AVATAR CLINIC

:mac_alert:

Now that you’ve joined Atari I/O it’s important that you have an avatar. An avatar is your unique icon that displays with your name any time you make a post in the forums. If you don’t have a custom avatar, the default avatar is used in its place. You can join and post to Atari I/O without a custom avatar, but it looks awful and comes across as rather suspicious.

You can change your avatar by going to your Atari I/O Profile and clicking the “Change” button on top of your current image. You will find three ways to change your custom avatar:

  1. Use A Custom Photo - Upload a photo from your computer that you want to use as your avatar (Recommended)
  2. Import A Photo From A URL - Enter a URL of an existing image you want to use and click “Import”
  3. Use Gravatar - Sign into your Gravatar account to use your existing Gravatar image

Recommended size for an Atari I/O avatar image is 200 x 200 pixels. Many people use programs like Photoshop to create and crop their own custom avatars. If Photoshop isn’t your thing, here are some other quick and easy tools that can help:

Atari Label Maker - http://www.labelmaker2600.com

This awesome tool lets you quickly create Atari cartridge label designs using your own artwork, or none at all. Many members use the Atari Label Maker tool to create their custom avatar!

Our Instagram - https://instagram.com/atarigames/

Official Atari I/O Instagram Account. Feel free to screen capture any of our Instagram images to use as your Avatar. Use Dinsta to download Instagram photos, or use DreDown to download Instagram videos.

Image Resize - http://www.shrinkpic.../create-avatar/

This is a tool that lets you quickly resize your image to 200 pixels

I REALLY WISH anyone without an avatar would consider the info given here, gives the site a better look, doesn't have to be fancy but please I am begging ANYTHING is better than that "NON - AVATAR" default   :pile:  (keep it clean and family friendly though  ;) ) IF YOU CAN BOTHER TO MAKE POST AFTER POST you can take 2 minutes of time and effort to upload or link a proper avatar, if I end up seeing too many without I just might make it mandatory (or assign you my own, ok probably not but don't temp me! B) )  AND TO ALL THAT HAVE BOTHERED MANY MANY THANKS !

New users need to be creating their own unique avatars. If they lack the motivation to do that they shouldn't be here.

Thankful to you guys who have bothered, yes it is quite painless and simple, even going into your profile and clicking your default pops up your option to link from a hosting site or simply upload directly, very simple. I have done both, I have tons of mine already hosted on Imgur site, free image hosting, works great. Create one or simply find one that reflects whatever you are into it's all good. See below showing 3 options, Upload from device / Link URL / Gravatar (another avatar hosting site) with all these options there is no excuse not to do it . READ DeLorean's first post, she put a lot of work into it for you all so take advantage of it  ;) , you are bound to find something you like.

If any member needs help, DeLorean and I will even help you create your custom Avatar. It's easy and gives you a unique personality for posting in the forums. This thread was created to be an Avatar Workshop where we can share Avatar graphics and ideas.

I just tried to change my avatar, but the site is telling me I don't have permission? Do I have to have a certain number of posts before I can change it?

That's weird! You should be able to change your avatar from the moment you sign up. I'll have to look into this.

Go ahead and PM me the image you'd like to use as your Avatar and I'll upload it for you  :thumb:

Ok will do, I'm also going to try again at home to rule out any issues my work network might be causing.
