Speaking of Lost Games:

I started looking into what had happened to various ST/Amiga games i'd seen previewed in magazines like The One and this 3rd Nightbreed game had been put down as finished, delivered to Ocean (who refused to say why they had'nt released it), thanks to Frank Gasking/GTW that's another lost game UK Press claim disproven.

Ok, whilst i'm loathe to reprint UK Press claims (as more often than not what's claimed is complete crap) but so far this is the only info i have on various missing ST Era games.Take it with a pinch of salt if you like as these are not direct from source:

Billy The Kid (Ocean):Advertised, previewed etc...apparently after months of work by Level 9, game was in a playable state (but very bugged), Ocean were'nt happy with state of game, so canned it.

Titus Software's superb looking Action Concept games (Commando War previewed in Zero Magazine the WW2 Scenario as it were) would of covered:

WW2, Azteca era, Viking era and Battle Of Trafalgar.

Ocean's ST conversions of Green Beret+Wec Le Mans canned due to 'Technical difficulties'

Psygnosis Cutipoo, AKA Dr Mallet And The Tribbles, never got further than just a demo of cartoon graphics, no game as such.

Ocean had Guerrilla War in development on the ST, it apparently got quite far, was showing real promise, but developers abandonded it.

Sabre Wulf (Rare) was up and running on 16 Bit home micro's, Knightlore also planned, but Tony Cavanagh been quoted as saying games were best left on the ZX Spectrum.

Paul Woakes (Mercenary Fame) apparently had a 3D version of Asteriods running, called Skeltar, but could'nt work a decent game into the impressive 3D engine.

Watchmen (Ocean):Seems they thought it more suited to the CD formats than ST/Amiga, were waiting for the (then planned) film to appear, but when original deal fell through, Ocean never signed any contracts.

Scavenger (Hewson), looked great, but despite several reworkings of the game mechanics, could'nt get into a playable enough state, canned.

I did ask System 3 about numerous Lost ST Games:Myth, Last Ninja (looked like 1040STFM only) but despite initally happy to answer Q's, suddenly no-one wanted to talk.I could say more but...legal stuff, lol.

Ages ago i paid a friend of mine to scan a lot of Atari related UK Press coverage from my personal magazine collection, thought said material might be of interest?

It'd take another lifetime to upload images again, so hope links are sufficent.

This was from my very early days of looking into claims Tomb Raider was started on Jag CD, long before i had word from Richard B.that said screens Edge used were fakes:

From:Gavin Rummery, a lead coder on Tomb Raider, whom i asked IF it was

true the game had started out on Jaguar CD, his reply:

"...   i don't recall anything about any Jaguar development that may have been going on in other parts of the company.....

People were always tinkering with things, but it was usually one guy who

had been tasked with seeing if it was worth porting any games onto a new

platform. With the Jaguar it was more or less DOA, so I presume it was

 given up on."

Core of course did get well into converting Mega CD Soul Star to the Jaguar CD...but thought i'd put up Gavins comments as it echoed the feeling of why we never saw much support from UK software houses, let alone Core Design.

Lots of UK Press interviews with Core design, plus a few of my own.You can read about Swagmans origins and which formats work started on and moved to...Jaguar never mentioned so draw your own conclusions :-)

The 7800 stuff? well as detailed in thread. The Gremlin Graphics games turned out to be red herring, i even tried contacting article writer for source, nothing.Ace's team of Ex-Imagine coders claim? never been able to verify that either....

Probably last lot of info from the surplus ST Gamer Volume 2 research:

1)Due to ill health, Colin Porch has sadly had to stop work on completing Head Over Heels 2 on the ST.

2)I spoke to Amiga/St Artist, Adrain Cummings, who had started on the graphics for ST+Amiga versions of:

Beach Head, Raid Over Moscow and Beach Head 2, but work was abandoned after it seemed the publisher, US Gold, was'nt really all that serious about getting the games out after all....

Yikes :-)

Just a heads-up, but either i'm burning out from doing too many interviews OR old age is catching up with me, but i'm ashamed to say i'd totally forgotten about a 'key' Atari related interview i did during 1st part of this year :-(

It's only now (literally) been forwarded onto Grumpy Old Gamers for a tidy-up before going on-line.Once it's up, i'll put up the link.

Be warned :-) person talks openly about the shortcomings of the hardware in question and Atari themselves.......

Huge thanks for the very kind words there RickR.

It means a lot to me that the community here is enjoying what i've obtained over a period of some months, sorry i've plastered it up all in something of a frenzy...

I've 3 more interviews 'in the bag' yet to appear..the CDi coder and PS1 Launch team etc chap should be easy enough to pass on, but the C64/MD/A3000 coder interview (lengthy) keeps crashing when i try to read it, gulp....so keep your fingers crossed.

Been sat on it for a while and Harry was the chap i approached after reading him being quoted in Edge, regarding his Ninja Sega Saturn coding skills, turned out he never touched the darn thing....

Luckily, he had plenty of projects to talk about :-)

PS1 Launch, Pure Entertainment, Motion Control etc etc.

Hope you enjoy :-)

Slight delay on latest interview forwarded to Grumpy Old Gamers (this time it's a Domark coder)...um...basically document is locked to Read Only (so Hal is unable to transfer it)...reason being, person i interviewed wants to read through it and edit out any comments about certain aspects certain people might find offensive..if you catch my drift?.

:-)
