Check this out.  I had no idea this was possible.  Emulation of Playstation 2 on the PC, with the ability to play the games from real PS2 discs.

I'm going to give this a try and report back.  I have a Logitech USB gamepad that looks very similar to a PS2 controller, so this is going to be very interesting indeed.

I've heard of this way back but never tried it. Pretty much was waiting for it to be perfected first.

I also have one of those Logitech USB gamepads too.  :thumb:

So, I have zero knowledge of BIOS and am getting stuck right away. Let me know how it goes Rick!

You can get a copy of the BIOS HERE (you will have to place it where the emulator expects it, probably have to unzip it as well)

It works!

Use the BIOS file MaxRD linked above.  And follow this guide.

Great guide! Also fun to fiddle with settings, amazing what can be achieved with some of the graphic options, PS2 never looked so good.

No luck here. :( Maybe it's just my old PC.

Well even if configured correctly it will require a bit of horsepower to get games playable. I still use my PS2 console, my PC I built like 6 years ago now but it isn't too shabby.

Requirements (for PCXS2) and really when you see requirements like this you are going to usually want to meet the "Recommended" to be worth bothering.

System Requirements
Minimum (most games will be unplayable slow)

Windows/Linux OS
CPU: Any that supports SSE2 (Pentium 4 and up, Athlon64 and up)
GPU: Any that supports Pixel Shader model 2.0, except Nvidia FX series (broken SM2.0, too slow anyway)
512MB RAM (note Vista needs at least 2GB to run reliably)

Recommend

Windows Vista / Windows 7 (32bit or 64bit) with the latest DirectX
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.2 GHz or better OR i3/i5/i7 @ 2,8 GHz or better OR AMD Phenom II @ 3,2 GHz or better
GPU: 8800gt or better (for Direct3D10 support)
RAM: 1GB on Linux/Windows XP, 2GB or more on Vista / Windows 7
