RIP Ralph Baer

Ralph Baer, "The Father of Videogaming", passed away this weekend at the age of 92. For those that don't know, Mr. Baer created "The Brown Box" in 1970. This was a rudimentary home console that played "pong" type games. It was released by Magnavox as The Odyssey in 1972. Nolan Bushnell is widely known to have got the idea for Pong from seeing a demonstration of the Odyssey. Atari wound up retroactively licensing the technology from Magnavox to avoid a lawsuit. Baer would later create the first light gun game, the Odyssey 2 and Simon. Here are some articles on his life and passing:
