Intellivsion Problem

I was trying to play some games on my Intellivsion console when I turned it on, the screen went black. When I bought It last year it said it works fine but maybe i need to clean it? Is there anyway I can clean it without risking to break it? Should I clean the games with a Q-tip and glass cleaner? If anything, please Reply when you have the time :)

-thanks!

You can also try cleaning the cartridge slot with alcohol and a q-tip, but it doesn't sound like its dirty contacts, to be honest.   Are you sure its on the proper channel when you turn it on?    When you turn it on does it go from static to a black screen, or is there no response at all?

I'm sorry to say, but from what you describe, your INTV is most likely broken.  It could be a variety of different things.  Dirty cartridge slot, bad power switch, a bad chip on the board.  I think your best best may be to buy a fully tested Intellivision.

These things happen with machines that are 35 years old.

Did you ever have it working?  Or did you buy it and not test it until now?
