Not sure what shape the insides are in, but the outside has seen better days. Going to do my best to give this system one more ride. I will be posting pictures of my progress along the way. It's been a very long time, but I can still hear the clicking of the disk control like it was yesterday. Restoring old consoles has become almost meditative for me. Just a man (or woman), a console, a soldering iron, electric contact cleaner, dielectric grease, isopropyl alcohol, a cold beer and a dream. At this point I just want to fire it up and see where it stands, I know I can clean it up but I need to strip it and work from the bottom up. I think by keeping these inserts in the controller it saved the key pad. Took apart the controllers and detailed the membrane inside, soaked everything I could and put it back together. My father and I played this game so many times, we still talk about it today, so many Burgertime battles. This weekend I played it a lot with my son, he was excited I got it working, so was I. So my power switch, the on and off, its a little sketchy, really got to play with it to keep it on. Thats an easy repair I'm sure, guess I need to track one down. Other then that, Im pleased, great to play this machine again. I've already opened it up to see what was moving around inside of it - it was only a wasp nest. I clean out the dirt and nest but the AC plug prongs are green so I wouldn't even try to plug it in. Fired up first try, now to find a flashcart or something like that. RickR Posted April 12, 2016 Report Share Posted April 12, 2016 That switch tends to need a rebuild in many cases. Kind of like Atari paddles. I don't think they ever thought they'd last 40 years.
