So who's up for some online multiplayer maze craze!?

Totally! I've only a played a couple of these against others. (Combat and Pong.)

I'm still concerned about lag. Some of these games operate at about 60 fps. Given the possible distances involved for multiplayer, that doesn't leave much time available for receiving input for each frame. It could be, though, that they're not going for a perfect emulation of multiplayer, and they're using some tricks to reduce the effects of latency.

I remember when I used to be subscribed to Gametap, I tried playing the New Zealand Story arcade game multiplayer, and it was pretty slow. My broadband wasn't as good back then, though, so who knows...

I'm surprised Solaris isn't on there. They've got Radar Lock, though. Maybe they're considering DLC?

I think Doug Neubauer holds the rights (partial at least if not all) for the game, so they'd have to pay him to use it.

You basically have to view it as a third party game in this case.

Steam itself is free.  If someone asked me to guess what they're gonna charge for the Atari Vault, I'd take a wild guess and say $20.  There are enough sales on Steam that buying a game at full price is something I do very, very rarely, and I see this as no exception given that I already own the vast majority of these games on original media, can run them in emulators for free just fine, etc.

Yes, I'm guessing you'll get a base Vault pack with the 100 games listed for between 9.99-19.99.   Then they'll have add-on packs with more games, you can bet!

I also rarely pay full price for a game.   Steam sales keep me covered. :)

This is such a Must-Buy, it's not even funny.

Although I might wait for the Steam Summer Sale to see if it drops down a bit more.

The multiplayer aspect of it makes it essential, as I could see myself playing a few games with fellow retrogamers from around here.

But there is some concern over controls, which can break the fun just as fast as it makes it.

Nonetheless, this will be an addition.

And why not, I think I have Atari games on every console and port in the castle.

My Steam sig should be fairly obvious.
