MaximumRD Posted May 31, 2016 Report Share Posted May 31, 2016 Yes I am a huge ATARI / COLECO fan as well a have a pretty decent and varied collection of consoles / computers / handhelds. Among them also various NES compatible "clones" but recently I was finally able to officially make a clean and working Nintendo Entertainment System Console part of that collection once again! Jut wanted to share this original post from Facebook here as well for all you NES fans. Finally! MY GOD TIME FLIES! Over 3 years ago I had uploaded a video where I received two original NES consoles. BOTH had the red blinking light issue. I was aware of various tricks/tips/fixes to correct the problem. A couple weeks back I opened both up and long story short after disabling 10NESChip, various cleaning and boiling the 72pin connector and other inspection and troubleshooting I got ONE of the units working. Replacing the connector on the other will NOT fix the issue as there were other problems on the board, but in the end I achieved my goal and got one mostly perfectly working unit. It is still a little temperamental with my two Game Genies but those tend to be pretty hard on the connector anyway and besides since I have a NES EVERDRIVE I will stick to using that. Seems to load up various original carts just fine every time though. Between the two I had one power supply and one RF switchbox (though of course I will use the Composite RCA connector anyway) one had some chips and cracks in the outer casing and was not as clean so really between the two I got one good looking and working original NES and so I am HAPPY as that was my minimum goal. Have so many clones to play original NES carts but it just did not seem right not having an original that I enjoyed so much back in the day. Glad to have a working unit back in the collection. As far as original 8bit NES goes I am pretty damn content now. ABOUT THE ONLY THING else I hope for at some point is an original NES R.O.B. though not for same reason as most, I don't really need a working one (though it would be a bonus) I kind of just want one in that at least looks intact as I may just repaint it so I could have a NES version of a Mystery Science Theater 3000 BOT. I've had pretty good success with replacing the 72 pins on NES consoles, but those front loaders just weren't well thought out design wise. Had to have at least one original NES, just didn't feel like a true classic gaming collector with out it! Atari 5200 Guy Posted June 1, 2016 Report Share Posted June 1, 2016 I have to admit that I love my 5200 but the NES made up most of my best gaming moments during my teenage years. It's cool that you managed to get one going. I had to do the same thing when I picked up four non-working consoles in an online auction. I got all of them working and kept one for myself. The others were traded. I'm still looking for some NES games like Blaster Master that, for some stupid reason, are increasing in value to a point that the prices are ridiculous. I watched a video recently (they even mentioned Willie's) that got one fairly recently and they said it was a little tight but not nearly as bad, so maybe they addressed this?
