A video to "plug" Atari.io's forum(s)

I've been pondering making a short You Tube video (less that 5 minutes) to "plug" the forums of this site, then posting links at various places on the Internet to drive some business this way.  Which brings me to the following question....

What do YOU think would be the top things to mention?

I think the key thing Atari.IO brings to the table are its great members.

Very friendly, very generous, and love the hobby without being pretentious or cliquey.

Also, our Junk Boxes and chat nights are a wonderful commodity to retro gamers.

I agree with all this.

Add in the high score contests and the excellent trades.

Ditto and I would say, corny as it may sound, though we may not be the "biggest" site thanks to moderation we support a positive "vibe" in our community!

More than just Atari we LOVE and support all things retro.

Hi Omega, thanks for the plug! I would highlight the things that make Atari I/O a special place. Namely the uniquely warm and welcoming community we have.

People here are very friendly, there’s a generous, giving spirit in the forums. We see it when everybody joins together to welcome a new member into the forums, or contributes toward getting them started with their first Atari 2600. We see it in our Retro Junk Box events and other acts of generosity in the forums. We don’t have flame wars and we don't allow this place to become a raging dumpster fire like other places can become.

Some other things to consider:

  • Atari I/O forums cover ALL classic game systems and computers, not just Atari
  • Lots of members here are content producers who host excellent YouTube videos and Podcasts. Atari I/O is a good place to catch up with these guys and check out their shows.
  • Atari I/O Blog and game reviews
  • High Score Squad & Scoreboard
  • Retro Junk Box & other fun events
  • Chat room is almost a community in itself, and busy most nights
  • Forums include extensive coverage of all aspects of Retro Life - Retro TV & Movies, Music, Books, Comics, Vintage Toys, Board Games and Nostalgia.
  • Rest of the website is still in its infancy and being built out with info on games etc.

Thanks for the site shoutout, hope this is helpful!

It might not have the numbers certain other sites have, but I'd rather enjoy a luxurious journey in a train carriage, filled with vibrancy, than be crammed into a wagon full to the brim and thus having a very toxic atmosphere to it..

Beautifully stated.

I can only emphasise what's been said already..

It's the people that make Atari I.O simply work and you won't find a more friendly, welcoming Retro site online.

The warmth and generosity of the community here coupled with the richness of knowledge, all freely shared, makes it what it is.

I've uploaded the atari.io background pre-formatted in Full HD 1920 x 1080 so that it's pixel-perfect in videos. I've made this image openly available to download so feel free to use it in videos and share it in any way that you'd like. Thanks to all who have mentioned atari.io in your videos and podcasts!

Excellent!  I'll add this right after the short intro and have some scrolling text at the bottom, then I'll do a fade-in to the actual video.

I was just curious, FLASH VIDEO DOWNLOADER for Firefox seemed to offer a 1080p download option (.mp4 @3.23mb) on Justin's link.

Thanks, I'll go and check it out.

The original video was uploaded in Full HD  :emoji-E420:

Hmm... my version may be out of date.  The only time I ever use Firefox is to rip videos off of You Tube.  I've never found one for Chrome, although I've not looked in the past year either.

Try Keepvid.com or Dredown.com. They rip videos through the website without needing to install plugins so you should be okay :)

Thanks for the link!  It worked and I was able to get the file full-resolution.

Now as time allows I need to to start making and filming segments here and there, then piece them all together.

I wish I had a gallery_713_10_2778.jpg , I could get everything done apparently faster.
