I'm pleased to present an interview that I did with the book's author, Tim Lapetino, on behalf of the site. Huge thanks to Tim for his participation and his willingness to give thorough and informative answers. We hope to have Tim join us for a Wednesday night chat in the near future -- stay tuned for details on that. I'm now watching my post office box like a hawk for my copy of the book! I intend to post a review once I've had the chance to read it cover to cover -- I don't imagine it will take me long, as this has been circled on my calendar for months. The issue for me was that they had sold out the standard version ($30), and the deluxe version was $80. I'm a cheap SOB, we all know that. I couldn't justify that higher price with 1 kid in college and another on the way next year. I will tell you that the book looks absolutely stunningly awesome. So much better than I imagined. For those that bought it, I can promise you are going to love it. Trust me on this. I agonized about buying the deluxe version. I do feel thankful that they let me thumb through it. I also had the opportunity at PRGE to purchase an Intellivision flash cart that looked awesome. But it was $120. Well worth it...but did I mention that I'm a cheap SOB? I thought very hard about this one too, but imagined my wife with her hands on her hips making angry eyes....I had to leave it. Thank you, sincerely, for creating something of such quality and choosing to share it with us. This is a fantastic interview. I honestly enjoyed reading this and thought that you asked the questions we'd really want to ask. This book is really a compilation of video game archeology with so many stories and lore behind each piece of artwork, and so many questions about what has been left undiscovered. There's a new 2700 section on Atari I/O that's about to go full blast. I wonder how much he goes into the 2700 in his book. Pretty much every review I've seen so far has indicated that this same thoughtfulness and attention to detail is evident in the quality and presentation of the book itself. Unfortunately I'm still awaiting my copy (AGH, HURRY UP, AMAZON!) but I expect to have it by early next week. I can't understand the UK is 40 min plane flight, they get the book over there on time and living in Ireland appears to be some far away tropical location to where things arrives months later? By the time the book arrives either his second book will be in production or the postman-men will know about the content than I will You guys are living it up over while I play hiding in the closet waiting there like Mike Myers in a boiler suit. Cancelling the order won't make it get here any sooner, I went for regular delivery charges, but didn't think that meant fecking dark ages..
