Atari 5200 Guy Posted November 1, 2016 Report Share Posted November 1, 2016 OK...the 2600 does a decent job of playing Super Breakout. I prefer the 5200 version though for the colors. The A8 Super Breakout, while not bad either, has pastel colors that really don't look to me. All games are good no matter what. I just wish the 2600 and A8 used different colors than what they did. fergojisan Posted November 1, 2016 Report Share Posted November 1, 2016 I loved this game as a kid, but it is kind of hard to go back to after playing Arkanoid, which is one of my favorites. Atari 5200 Guy Posted November 1, 2016 Report Share Posted November 1, 2016 The 2600 Super Breakout is brutal. I thought the paddles on the 5200 version would shrink a lot. The 2600 version barely leaves you a paddle and seems smaller than what the 5200 leaves you with. On top of that, it seems that the ball can get stuck in a routine pattern when only a few bricks are left on the screen making it difficult to clear a level. Over the last few years when I play this I can barely clear the first level! Hoping to get some time in with this one this weekend and see if I can even compete... Thank you for reminding me of how bad I am at this game. My wife loves Arkanoid, and that's what she always says whenever I fire up Super Breakout. "Why don't you play Arkanoid, its better?" I have a copy for the NES, but I don't have the Vaus controller, and they're super expensive these days. Hope it helps someone! ok I gatta ask .... do you have set to difficulty "a" ? ... that paddle in screenshot is same size as a full brick left behind. -or- did your last ball not hit the top of the screen ? when my ball hit top of screen my paddle is reduced to the approximate size of the width of half a brick I was 3 bricks shy of 3'rd screen greenween and Justin 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
