BTW, sorry about the audio on this one. The way Jim and I usually do the podcast is we each record our own audio as we talk via Google Hangouts or Skype, and then the two resulting audio files are synched. Well, with Tim (our special guest) we had to do something different: Tim's computer didn't have enough power to record while Skyping, so what I did was record the Skype audio. Which meant that I was at the mercy of whatever was coming over the Internet. My audio was recording straight from my microphone, but Jim's and Tim's both came from the Skype feed.

Time for episode 57!

Believe it or not, this is not the first episode of Pie Factory Podcast to come out in July 2017. Except it is. And it's about two games this time. Just like almost all of the other episodes. You listen now. And you wish Steve Touhy of Touhyville a happy birthday. Now.

So, uhhh....we're going to be talking to Jeff Lee, graphic artist who worked at Gottlieb and has illustrated books and other stuff. There's a chance you might have heard of a character he created. Little bouncy guy named Q*Bert?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaanyway...if you have any questions you want us to ask Jeff, please e-mail us said questions to piefactorypodcast @ fab4it . com

Two games. Two arcade games. You play 'em. You shoot stuff. And one of the games has a dangling preposition in the title. And this will be the final Pie Factory Podcast episode until the next one. Which will be 60. Followed by 61 and 68, with possible episodes in between. Mark your calendar as such.

EPISODE 60 HAS BEEN RELEASED.

Despite our best efforts at putting out a quality Podcast, Jeff Lee, creative genius behind Q*Bert, managed to sit through an entire episode to talk to us about his games, books, artwork, and other hobbies. If there ever was an episode of a podcast, this certainly is one of them.

EPISODE 61 (Krull and Q*bert) IS OUT.

Our thoughts are with those affected by Harvey right now; if any of our listeners are among them, we hope that this episode gives them at least a little bit of a silver lining. But hey, want to learn some algebra? 2 x Gottlieb = episode 61. Whoa.

So it's come to this: the last episode of Pie Factory Podcast for the summer! Jim and Sean wax poetically about each of their adventures the great summer of 2017 has thrust upon them, and they make their fall predictions.

Oh, wait...never mind; they never got around to doing that. Instead, they talked about classic arcade video games. Maybe episode 63? Only time will tell.

Congratulations: you survived the end of the world! Your reward is getting to listen to the soothing sounds of Jim'n'Sean waxing nostalgic about two Sega games. Will Jim finally find the lost chord? Will Sean be reunited with his ticker tape machine? Listen and find out.

So here's the situation. It's October. It's 2017. By process of elimination, that means it's October 2017. Putting two and two together, you get twotwo. Strategically simulate operations and shoot some suicidal space creatures with Sean and Jim as they answer that musical question: "Huh?"

Episode 66 - Luner Landar and Red Baron - is out! Jim and Sean wax philosophical about two Atari vector graphics games. (And unfortunately, new computer = new audio issues, for which they apologize.) Are Sean and Jim stealing No Quarter's "Novecter" idea? Only time will tell, but listen for details...if any!

New Episode! EPISODE 67: BUSTER BROS AND BLASTEROIDS

The last episode of 2017 brings you two guys talking about two late ’80s games with two…uhhh…something or other. Ooh…and is there a special something for Patreon supporters? Only time will tell.

Whoa...didn't we release a final episode for 2017? Heh...well, the thing about that is....HERE'S A BONUS EPISODE!!

Jim and Sean offer you a holiday gift: an extra episode! The Pie Factory hosts aren't too afraid of...public speaking...to offer one more...broadcast...for 2017. Normally they talk about video games, but this time they get...behind the microphone...another way to talk about a topic pertinent to their past lives. For the...record...this episode's transmission may make your head spin! We hope you stay...stationary...and don't get...carted...away! In fact, we hope you end up walking on...the air!

I was going to post this in the contests forum, but it seems that I don't have posting access there....but...

At Pie Factory Podcast we are running a contest. It's specifically for our Patreon supporters. (We realized we haven't really given our supporters a thank-you gift, so this could be a start.)

The prize: a Sears Telegames Video Arcade 2600 light-sixer. It's cleaned up and AV-modded (in such a way that you can re-solder it back to its original condition if you want) and comes with not only a handful of complete-in-box games (including some Telegames-branded carts), but also the original outer box that contained the Sixer.

What you have to do:

1) Be a Patreon supporter of Pie Factory Podcast (or if you're not, then become one via patreon.com/piefactorypodcast), and

2) Come up with a theme for our next episode, which will cover Battlezone and Juno First. There's no right or wrong answer: be creative! What, in your eyes, do the two games have in common? E-mail your theme suggestion to piefactory@fab4it.com

Our original deadline was 11:59pm January 1, 2018 (CST), but we will likely extend it.

Everybody's fourth-favorite midwestern video game podcast hosts have returned from their monthlong tour of Europe, Scandinavia, and the subcontinent with deep thoughts about Battlezone and Juno First. Shirley this episode will go down in history as "The Show Notes Episode."

What? You thought Sean and Jim would let January end without you getting another episode in your podcast player?! Pshaw! Here with the long-awaited episode 69 are your beloved hosts waxing philosophical about two early '80s space games. We're sure to sell a million units...in January.

I've been curious as to how this episode would go over. It's a bit on the unusual side. Still the same format - preamble, Addena and Errata, one game, another game, theme reveal, thanks to the sponsors, announcing the next episode's games, closing credits, and (if applicable) bloopers/outtakes. But the content itself is a bit unusual.

Out of the blue I already got some insightful feedback but I'd like as much as possible.

Jim and Sean were getting lazy and restless with episode 71, so they did what anybody else would do: invite two guests to join them and do all the dirty work. Enjoy this special foursome as they present their intercourse on Contra and Ikari Warriors.

So it's come to this...Sean and Jim have released twelve episodes six times. SIX TIMES. Can they do it a seventh time? Stick around for episode 84 and find out! In the mean time, here's episode 72, examining works by Konami and Bally Midway.

It's Monday! And when a new episode of Pie Factory Podcast comes out on a Monday, it means Monday's FUNday, Charlie Brown! In their last episode before Midwest Gaming Classic, Jim and Sean discuss, well...two arcade games and reveal a common theme. Duh. If you're in Milwaukee, come to MGC and see us in the vendor hall. (Or at least visit the statue of The Fonz.)
