Joseph Wapner died today.  He was 97 years old.

Damn shame.  Rainman weeps today.

In all seriousness, 97 is a helluva run.

May he rest in peace. A least, he had a long life.

Between him and Paxton, this one surprised me the most since I didn't even realize he was still alive!

He also inspired this great movie scene:

Fun fact: Judge Wapner presided over Brian Wilson's divorce. That was before The People's Court ever existed. Just read that in his new memoir.

It's fascinating to watch clips of Wapner on "The People's Court".  He's definitely more "boring" than the current crop of TV judges.  There's very little purposeful humor or bombast from him, yet it's so compelling to watch.  Why?  I think it's the innate charm of his honor and that he just seems so competent and trustworthy.
