I so want to do this but the problem is that I have no working PC at home since my 8+ year old laptop 'died' last year.  My iPad has been my 'default' PC/media device since then as I didn't feel like blowing $1,000+ on something that will only last a few years...

I don't think spending $1000 is necessary.  Older PC's and laptops are still useful and much less expensive.  Let me know if you need help finding an affordable used PC, especially if you are in the NW part of the country.  I have a few in my attic that I could sell for less than $100 shipped.  One of them even has Win 10 on it.

If & when I get mine updated once I get a hold of a PC, two of my most wanted are not currently compatible but that could change with an updated release.  Those would be Terranigma (a European PAL only release) and Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2, Japan only release but there's an English patch).  However there's plenty others I would upload that do work.  I can't get enough of the Super NES RPGs.  I'm still knee deep in FF3 which still can hold my attention better than many other current generation games...

I hacked my SNES classic the day I got it. I had hacked my NES classic with some SNES games beforehand. Since I did get an SNES, I rehacked my NES, deleted the SNES games, and put the entire Atari 2600 library on it with plenty of room for other games as well! I added some tg16, Gameboy GBA and GBC games, genesis, and others.

Ok, after getting hold of an old POS HP desktop, I hacked both my NES & SNES classic consoles.  I just opened the 16-bit Pandora's box.  I'm currently playing Terranigma (using Retroarch), which was never released stateside.  Then on to Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2) which I've been longing to play for 20 years.  Not to mention tons of quirky but entertaining obscure Japanese titles (some of which came with English patches)...  The SuperNES games for the most part hold up well today more than most consoles...
