Im just curious as to how many games everyone has in their collection (not counting duplicates). For all system the total amount.

I just recently downloaded an app on my phone that lets me put in my collection of games. A few times i have bought a game thinking i didnt have it and when i got home there is was on the shelf. Its been great and very helpful.

Anyway im up to 665 games total. I know about 150 of them are Atari 2600 and 100 NES.

I have no idea, but I think you've inspired me to count. What app are you using?

I use an Excel spreadsheet, which each system on a different sheet.  I don't know how to create a function to count all rows on all sheets.  And I'm too lazy to do it by hand.  I'd guess I'm close to 1000.  With the big hitters being Atari 2600 (304 games), Intellivision (97), Odyssey 2 (37), and PS2 (over 100).

I've gone from a couple of dozen systems and a couple thousand games to 4 systems (2600/7800/Atari 8-bit/NES) and 1 handheld (GBA SP) and about 150 games give or take.

Atari 2600 - 50 games + 6 homebrews

Atari 7800 - 15 games + 3 homebrews

Atari XL/XE - 32 games

NES - 25 games

Famicom - 5 games

Gameboy - 8 games

SNES - 3 games + 1 homebrew

Genesis - 4 games

I got rid of all my Genesis and SNES consoles and just use a Retron 5 for those games. It didn't seem worth it to keep those consoles for a tiny amount of games I had for them. My collection is now back to when I first started in 2009 and was what I intended - to collect for the 3 Atari systems and some NES and just games I actually play. I no longer own games and systems that just sit on a shelf. I'm at the point now where I don't actually view it as a video game collection and just the systems and games of my youth that I still enjoy playing.

As for what I use to track my collection (even though I don't think it's necessary because of its small size) is the database at VGcollect.com

I haven't found a decent app for the older systems but I don't actively look for them so if there's a mobile app that works well and looks good for systems like the 2600 or NES let me know and I'll check it out.

Whoops.  No.  That's why I shouldn't count manually.  37 Odyssey 2 games here.

I use two game collecting sources. On my android tablet I use an app called My Game Collection. It works but does depend on user-created databases. The other is a website called RFGeneration, also dependent on user-created content but they pay more attention to details. I use both for insurance purposes.

As for my collection...I have 18 various consoles and computers (not counting any modern PC or tablets). I have all Atari consoles and a XEGS for 8-bit computing. I almost have all Nintendo home consoles...only missing the Wii U and Switch. Original XBOX and Special Edition 360 S. PlayStation with parallel port and PS2 Slim. Sega Genesis model 1 and Dreamcast. For oddities I have added a TI 99/4A and a Tandy/Memorex VIS. The last two I really don't use very often but enjoy having them. They are a part of electronic history.

Games? Over 500 with the 360 taking number one spot followed by the 2600. Those two combined make up almost half of the collection...of course most of the games on the 360 are digital but still count. Coming in third is the original XBOX at 53, fourth is the NES at 48, and the 5200 comes in fifth at 31. The only systems not on that list is PC and Steam games. Steam alone I have over 170 games...most were bought for one dollar or free giveaways.

I have two homebrews. Tempest for the 5200 and Delta Space Arena for the 8-bits.

This thread reminds me that I need to inventory my collection... I have most of the Atari and NES stuff in a spreadsheet, which has me at 236 Atari 2600 games and 104 NES games, but I think those need to be updated as well. I’m probably in the 50 range for both SNES and Genesis, a little over 20 7800 games, mid 20’s for the 5200, mid 30’s for the Intellivision and Colecovision, close to 30 for the N64... plus a bunch of GB, GBC, GBA, DS, and 3DS games, and all the Disc based stuff (PS1/DC - PS4/XBox One).

I probably should use a web app or something like some others mentioned on this thread and elsewhere, it might make things simpler. I seem to end up with egg on my face more and more when I come home with a killer “deal” only to find it sitting there in my collection already. It helps me keep stuff for the junk box, but that’s about it.

I need to do the same with my movies; I’ve got several duplicates now thanks to not having a good inventory and relying on my faulty memory!

I'm not counting, for fear of depressing myself. My number dropped off precipitously after giving away so many games prior to moving.  :(

If you ask my wife, the number is "too many".

I forgot about this game. It's one I've been thinking of picking up from Video 61. How do you like it?

If I had a dollar for every time I heard “another Atari game?!?” I’d have over 200 dollars :-)

79%. You forgot mine lol

Then you could use the $200 to get more games. Start buying games for another system maybe?

How can there be too much when they are organized nice and neatly? I do my chores so I feel like I earn my right to have those games lol.
