Well, it's official...I'm not good at Berserk on Game 2. I only got 3700 points. Blah blah blah. Going to try again.

No...it give me a chance to run like a bat out of hell!

And, yes, Creep...I'm having fun with it.  Still doesn't change my mind about the game being brutal at times.  Especially when it plops your butt within arms reach of a robot.  Talk about your stare downs.

While I'm not anywhere near the top score, I do have some tips to share:

  • Evil Otto appears where your guy starts the level.  That's why it's very important to move away from that spot as soon as you can.
  • Master diagonal shooting.  You can shoot diagonally.  The robots cannot.
  • Use the walls for cover.  Dumb robots may even walk right into them.
  • Start each level with a quick assessment.  Shoot the nearest robot and MOVE.
  • Use a real 2600.  IMO, emulators don't offer fast enough controls.
  • Pick a tight, twitchy joystick.  It's so important to have no delay between your brain and hand.  MOVE!

Those were excellent tips Rick! Thanks for sharing that!

Kamakazi is so very right! Spawning and dying right away sucks!

Well? It's bad enough to be running from those robots when they finally get you. But to be spawned right in front of a robot that, by the time you realize where you are, it is either too late or you can't move without dying. It is a hair pulling moment! He he...but this is still one of my top favorite 2600 games for that reason.

The 2600 might not have been able to get everything right but it nails it on challenge...on most games anyway.
