Inb4 tl;dr I was on mobile last night so I don't like typing a whole lot on my phone. Anyways, yes it's me the Star Castle (Vectrex) champ and first person to video rolling the score on that title. I'm also one of the best players at the arcade game. But, I'm not much into competitive gaming anymore because of the drama associated with that scene which I want no part of. Anymore for me it's about playing for fun and not worrying about having to play a game to set a new world record - just play and enjoy the games. The first video game I ever played was a Pong arcade cab at a Two Guys department store in 1975. I played it by myself with a hand on each paddle. A few years later I really got hooked on arcade gaming and we would go to the mall arcade every Friday night and then on Sunday nights I would tag along to my dad's bowling night and spend a boatload of quarters in the game room. My parents got me an Atari 2600 in 1980 with Space Invaders. I loved Space Invaders and had to have it for the home. The Atari 2600 for me was a way to get my gaming fix when I wasn't in the arcade. Afterall, the games were inferior to the arcade but I accepted it for what it was. My brother bought a ColecoVision back in '82 and that console just blew my mind. We finally had arcade quality graphics in the home and I spent hours playing DK, Mouse Trap, Venture and Carnival. I lost interest in video games for a few years but picked up an NES sometime in the mid 80s. Like everyone else, I was hooked to Super Mario. The next console I bought was a Playstation in the early 90s. I played mostly racing and sports games on this console. The Playstation would be the last "new" console that I would ever buy. At that time I spent most of my time playing games on the PC, BBSing and A LOT of time on online services. I pretty much lost interest in all gaming from the late 90s until I saw the movie Chasing Ghosts on Showtime back in 2008. I couldn't believe people still played these old games. A couple of months later, I discovered AtariAge.com, my wife got me a 2600 with games for my birthday and the rest is history. I've been back into gaming ever since. I've been to a handful of arcade tournaments over the last several years having been to Funspot 3 times since 2010. I attend the TooManyGames expo outside of Philly every year. I'll be going to the arcade expo in Pittsburgh this summer. My favorite console is the ColecoVision. To me, classic gaming is arcade games from 1971-1984 (and I know a lot of you will disagree with me) and the ColecoVision translated a lot of those games from that era (as did the 2600 but the games are better quality on the CV). As a writer I wrote for the old Classic Video Gamer magazine and founded Retrocade Magazine (the greatest classic gaming mag that nobody read). You can still get R'cade Mag from MagCloud.com if you're interested. I have a YouTube channel called TheRetrocade. We do a lot of Let's Play videos where I'll play a game and then my son or daughter will play the game and then we grade it. We also do walk through videos of arcades and events. My www is VectorGamer.com. I've slowly been publishing all the articles I wrote between Classic Video Gamer and Retrocade Magazine. Professionally I work in IT specifically in network infrastructure. I've been doing this crap for almost 20 years. Man I'm gettin' old. So my favorite arcade games are Star Castle, Space Fury, Asteroids, Pepper II, Reactor, Pac-Man, Galaxian and Galaga. I've been back into gaming ever since. same here...... I got my Vectrex in 82 & my best friend (who lived across the street) had both Atari and Intellivision so we were covered. When NES came out, I usually went to the video store and rented the console and games - so I never owned one. And never got back into gaming until 2007 when I bought an original Xbox (used) after one of my employees suggested that since I was such an 80's guy, I needed to play GTA: Vice City. Since then I started collecting again and you can see my collection below in my signature line.
