1st price check.... Journey Escape (2600) prototype

OK, I figured I'd make the first post here and this was the right topic heading to list it under. I came across this on the ole equator-bay......... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Atari-2600-7800-Journey-Escape-Prototype-370-Ultra-Rare-/281759699147?hash=item419a2fd0cb

for $500 - good label - prototype - numbered #370 .....seems a little too high

Then using fatfingers.com and searching "Atari", I find this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VTG-Arari-2600-RARE-Journey-Escape-Store-Demo-Data-Age-1982-Game-Cartridge-/252036808406?hash=item3aae907ed6

for $39 - bad label - prototype - numbered #806

Question: Does the bad label and higher number make this cart THAT much of a difference in price? I know condition plays a role in the value, but come on! $500 to $40!?!?!? And its not a low number of prototype carts made, since they have numbers like 370 & 806.

Thoughts?..........

800+ units is considered prototype numbers? I've known actual Jaguar games produced in less numbers that aren't prototypes haha...  That just seems bizarre to me as a whole. Who makes almost a thousand prototypes of one game or were they progressively altered / updated?

I don't think "prototype" is correct.  This looks like an in-store demo cartridge.

That would make sense why there are over 800 copies made.
