RickR
What the heck is wrong with me? I sold all my 5200 stuff (system and games) a few months ago. But today, saw a 5200 on Craigslist and got a good deal...and here we go again. It came with 17 games (w manuals). The joysticks are shot. In fact, there are missing buttons! But the 5200 itself looks really nice. Even has the peel off plastic on the metal badge. I'm going to try and cobble together one working controller out of these two. Should I post pictures and notes of that process? Does anyone have spare parts or buttons to donate? Or sell?

RickR
The console and games work fine. And there's some interesting titles here: Wizard of Wor, Gorf, Miner 2049er, Pitfall 2. But the joysticks are rough. I've taken them both apart. Cleaned the parts up. Alcohol/q-tipped the flex circuits, and glued on foil dots to each button back. But both have very worn/wrinkled "start" button flex circuits. And missing Start buttons. I'll start playing around tomorrow once the glue dries. Rowsdower70
Haha! Out one door and in another! That's the problem with the old 5200, it didn't need fixin'! Nice find, buddy! RickR
Here we go. Assembly time. The parts I chose to work with: The completed product: It works! Quite well. Look at that nice pristine rubber boot! 1/2/3 replaced the Start/Pause/Reset. A little low brow, but it works. The leftover parts are all pretty rough. But if I ever run across a spare rubber number set and start/pause/reset, I could build another working controller.

MaximumRD
What the heck is wrong with me? Heh you got the BUG like many of us! I never had a 5200 originally and the only memory I really recall other then being just one more item I drooled over in catalogs was a friends step dad who had one but he was a ass (the step dad) so we never got to play it. A few years back I got a beautiful condition original 4 port model which I followed up with a reconditioned controller from BEST, at the very least I think it is well worth having as outside of my gaming friends online it is a conversation piece and little known by the average person. I like that is was so massive and representative of the times, nothing else like it and a must for the Atari fan. Atari 5200 Guy
Sweet!! I have extra 5200 controller buttons, function, keypad, and fire. I keep broken 5200 controllers for parts if/when I find them. Your controller had something of interest. Those POTs are a different variation than the two I've seen. It looks like Atari continued to try to make these controllers more reliable, and enjoyable, after they were released. Great collection of games too! You got a rare title with the Miner 2049er. Or was that Bounty Bob? Very, very nice.
