Sabertooth Posted October 11, 2015 Report Share Posted October 11, 2015 They are a little pricey but Best Electronics rebuilt 5200 joysticks are pretty dang good and reliable. I agree with this. 4 port is painful to hook up with that crazy switchbox it has. 2 port can use the same screw-in RF adapter we use for most of our other old systems. Sabertooth Posted October 12, 2015 Report Share Posted October 12, 2015 In addition to being easier to hook up, you can use the VCS adapter with all 2-port models. Only the rare "asterisk" 4-port models will work with the adapter. You do lose compatibility with Pitfall! and Mountain King with the 2-port unless you swap out the BIOS chip. Atari 5200 Guy Posted January 5, 2016 Report Share Posted January 5, 2016 You know, I must be the only Atari person that has not had issues with the 5200 4-port sparking when being connected to the switchbox. Then again I did follow the instructions saying to plug the AC Adapter into the wall last. Then again I am probably only one of a handful of kids at the time that actually enjoyed the reading material as much as the system and games themselves.
