This time we're playing Ninja Spirit for the TurboGrafx-16! Ninja Spirit was released as a HuCard (TurboChip) for the TurboGrafx systems, and was included as a pack-in title with most TurboDuo game systems sold in the US! I think you'll find that Ninja Spirit is one of the stand-out titles among the US releases for TurboGrafx. It's a fun game with powerful jumps, different power ups and some serious ninja strategy. This has become my go-to game when I'm craving a ninja game. I should also apologize to you guys for posting this Squad Challenge five days late. I always try to post these on time. I have been absolutely swamped with work and have been distracted from the site and from playing games for the past few weeks. I'm here though, and this is going to be a great game for those of you just discovering the TurboGrafx-16. This is a SINGLE LIFE RUN Challenge, and you are only allowed ONE LIFE to achieve your high score in this Squad Challenge. ROM and Instruction Manual are provided below. Good luck to everyone playing! NOTE: Our next High Score Squad Challenge will be for Atari 7800. Be there! Ninja Spirit.pdfNinja Spirit.pce

    I Can Finally Play It!

For our 10th Anniversary my wife gifted me what I would need to play the Super NES again. I finally have a power supply (which also powers the Genesis!) and a new controller. Oh...and F-ZERO! Which was the only reason why I bought a Super NES system when they came out. I didn't care what other games I got back then as long as I had F-ZERO I was good. I spent, more like wasted, lots of teenage months on that game. The long wait is finally over. The SNES is now complete enough to enjoy it. I have to admit that I've missed F-Zero without actually knowing I missed it. I'll have to try to get the other games I once had but, geez, for some reason people think Nintendo games are worth more than Atari games. Earth Defense Force, Gradius III, Top Gear, Zelda (especially Zelda), Super Mario World, Super Metroid, all are not cheap no matter where they are found. I know I had a few more BITD but I can't seem to remember what those were. OK. Gotta cut this short. The urge to play F-Zero is getting the better of me. We need another F-Zero Squad Challenge now that I will be able to participate.

105,500. This is an awesome game! It's one of those "I just have to see what's next" type of games. Different weapons, different enemies. Just pure old-school fun.

Yars' Revenge Atari 2600 Controller: CONTROLLER / KEYBOARD / PLAYER'S CHOICE Difficulty Level: GAME 6 - ULTIMATE YARS! Play on: Real Hardware / Dedicated Console / MAME / Emulation OK! ✔ Squad Challenge ends 11:59 pm PST June 30th, 2019 HOWARD SCOTT WARSHAW DAY: July 30th is our 6th Annual Howard Scott Warshaw Day! Howard was a game designer at Atari who was responsible for creating some of the 2600’s most memorable titles. Howard’s birthday is July 30th. We’ve chosen HSW's birthday to celebrate Howard’s creations as one of Atari’s most prolific game designers. Howard's games encapsulate so much of what Atari was about, it's a fun reason to break out the 2600 and have fun playing Atari games with friends and family. To celebrate HSW Day, we're playing Yars' Revenge on the ULTIMATE YARS setting this weekend! OBJECTIVE: Play for the highest possible score using the difficulty settings defined in the challenge. Post a photo or video of your score in this thread. Scores must be achieved between July 27th through July 30th, 2019. Screen captures are not allowed as they are easily manipulated for falsified scores. Multiple submissions are permitted. The player with the highest score at the end of the competition is the victor! ELIGIBILITY: Anyone can join in. All players are welcome! PLAY RULES: Games may be played on real hardware, Flashback or emulation, using any controller or keyboard, following rules and game settings as delineated in the Squad Challenge. Enhancements, rewinds and hacked versions of this game are not allowed. DIFFICULTY LEVEL: ULTIMATE YARS: GAME 6 - Ultimate Yars features a bouncing Zorlon Cannon, plus some unusual twists that distinguish it from the other Yar games. First, you must bounce the Yar against the left side of the screen to make the Zorlon Cannon appear. Also, to make the cannon appear, you need five TRONS. TRONS are units of energy which you can collect at the following rate: Eat a cell from the shield: 1 TRON Touch the Qotile: 2 TRONS Catch a Zorlon Cannon shot after it bounces off the shield: 4 TRONS If a Yar bounces on the left side with less than five TRONS, it will not get a shot, but it won't lose the TRONS it has either. (Each time a Yar is destroyed, it loses its TRONS). Each Yar has a capacity of 255 TRONS.If a Yar tries to take on more than that, it will short out and the Yar will lose all its TRONS. The count of TRONS is not displayed on the screen. Yar scouts understand the count instinctively. FAIR PLAY: Players should play fairly, be honest, and have fun! Falsified scores will result in your immediate removal from the site. It goes without saying that no use of cheats, hacks, cartridge frying, enhancements, rewinds, Photoshop, subterfuge, or any other unfair advantage is allowed. Everybody hates a cheater. Congratulations RickR! Congratulations @RickR on your ULTIMATE score! I want to thank EVERYBODY for participating in our little event this year, and for celebrating the life and works of Howard Scott Warshaw who went for so many years without recognition, carrying "the blame" for the video game crash. I hope doing HSWDAY once a year is a fun way to break out these old games and appreciate them for what they are. I hope everyone had a good time playing Ultimate Yars!. Congrats to @RickR @greenween @atarilbc @TrekMD @kamakazi20012 and @Atari Creep for being among the most elite Yars' Revenge players! I'd like to encourage RickR to post his new high score on the Scoreboard, and maybe this Challenge can continue on! Our next High Score Squad Challenge will be for the TurboGrafx-16! You motivated me to download an Atari 7800 emulator onto my laptop so I could join the fun! Truth be told, on the second-to-last lap, I had just run out of time when I coasted over the start/finish line, qualifying me for the final lap. Luck of the draw! Oh yeah, my score is 65,000

70,100 I'm playing on the MESS emulator. This was my 5th try and I only crashed once on this run. Never hit the brakes and only let off the gas to get past that sharp left turn.

So I'm just curious does everyone here enjoy hot sauces? If so what is your go to hot sauce that you need to always have a bottle of? Mine has to be valentina (black label) but lately I've really enjoyed El Yucateco's green habanero sauce. Now when it comes to other hot sauces. How hot do you like them? Long story short I think I have been eating too much hot sauce lately and I cant feel any heat from the normal hot sauces or even the "XXX" hot sauces. So I have been watching "Hot Ones" on youtube (great show if you havent seen it) And I just bought a couple of the really insane hot sauces that I saw on the show off amazon. DA' Bomb came first in the mail and I had to get some friends over. DA' Bomb has a scoville level of 135,600. In comparison a regular bottle of Tabasco is 700 scoville units. So we grilled up some chicken and tried it out. This is definitely not your normal hot sauce! My tongue was on fire! It was hot but still I wasnt screaming and running around like all my friends were. So I felt I needed more. So today in the mail I got Blair's Mega Death Sauce with Liquid Rage. This one comes in at 500,000 Scoville units and maybe this one will give me the sting I need. Probably gonna get everyone together again this weekend to try it out. I'm gonna have some milk on the side ready to be used! So again this is one of my things i love and I'm just curious about everyone here. Do you like hot sauce? Do you not? If so how hot have you gone before?

Hey guys, glad to see so much participation in a TurboGrafx challenge! This is a really great game and I was hoping you guys would like it. I spent hours playing and this is the best I could do. I've been meaning to do a livestream but it didn't work out. I may go back and play this game live on Instagram and YouTube later in the week. My High Score: 244,800 Played the real game on real hardware using real Duo Pad controllers

Depends on the sauce, really. There's a thai restaurant near where I work (in fact, I had dinner with TrekMD there once ) -- I'll use any and all hot sauces they have there. But I'm not one of those hot sauce people who has to look for the hottest of the hot. I like a little pick-me-up.

128,900 played using Mednaffe with a Logitech USB gamepad. Having PC troubles so I couldn't get to this via emu all week. Had time to restore today. Like @Atari Creep, this was my first time playing this game. My first impressions are that it looks really great for the time and is a fun adventure platformer. I would have been pumped to have it as a pack-in. I think the Creep mentioned that it has a shooter vibe and I think that's a right on observation. The powerups and body double, coupled with bullet hell inspired enemies make it feel a bit like a SCHMUP. In terms of a single-life high score run, the enemy regen allows you to rack up points without the need to progress. Theoretically, you could stay on the first screen and just kill the same three ninja dudes for a few hours. This would be boring as hell but one could do it if points are all that you're after. For myself, I couldn't take it and had to move on. Assuming it's the same in real hardware?

It's funny you phrased it that way. I always thought the same thing. In the mid-80s, (certainly before I had seen the NES) I always saw the Atari 7800 as a robust, industrial strenth arcade machine, the same way we saw the Neo-Geo Gold a few years later. The 7800 was released in 1984 in some markets. Had Warner held on a few more months (even if they ended up "loaning" the company to Jack) the 7800 would've seen national distribution and perceptions would be different. That two year gap cost them big time. What's more is Atari's loss of the Lorraine chipset from Amiga, which Atari had licensed for a new video game system. Imagine Amiga-like graphics on a home video game system from Atari in 1986. That TRULY would have been an arcade-quality console and would have been a 16-Bit console on the market 5 years before SNES reached US shores.

Oh man, that's a tough call. Before you decide, let it cool down overnight. Unplug it, turn it on, then off. It is possible that once all the capacitors are discharged, it may fire back up. Summer heat may have caused the shutdown. That thing is pretty cool. Definitely worth keeping, but that's just my opinion. On the other hand, you might spend a day or two looking at Facebook marketplace. That's where I found two really nice sets over the last couple of months. Good luck. Start another thread if you feel like it. I'd like to see how this turns out.

No hot sauce for me thanks !!! anything hotter than a bar-b-Que potato chip is WAY to spicy for me ! Every once in a while I will do a tiny dip of salsa if available eating tortilla chips from a mexican resturant. mild is ok and will try a bigger scoop if not to spicy.

Can't say I do. I've never been much of a fan of adding hot sauces to my food. But I don't like food to hot or spicy either.

Here's a great title for #cibsunday in terms of gameplay and packaging. Control the mother kangaroo by hopping over platforms and climbing ladders to save her baby while avoiding apple throwing monkeys. I played this in arcades as a kid and really enjoyed it although I didn't get very far. It was one of those games with so many different sounds, bright colors, and lots of things going on at once. This 2600 port does a really good job of delivering the same sort of action and looks pretty good, I think, although it's far from the arcade. I really like the artwork and fold out instructions too. 🍎🍓🥊

GCC were responsible for the amazing arcade games on the 7800. If things would have worked out - the big IF, the 7800 would have came to market in 1984. The arcade titles on the 7800, like Food Fight, Ms. Pac Man, Dig Dug would have blown anything out of the water back then. I pictured it like this - Remember when we had our NES at home, then the Neo Geo home system showed up and you could actually play arcade perfect games in your living room... If the 7800 came out in 84, thats what it would have been like. Atari’s Arcade division came out with some of the best arcade experiences of my life time, I loved playing them back in the day, and love playing them now.
