    Thrift Store Finds

Goodwill came through again for me today. Awesome find. Sadly it's missing the game. If anyone has the game and case I'd be interested in maybe doing a trade. I've got plenty of stuff

Old School Gamer Magazine Issue 8

Old School Gamer Magazine Issue 8 is out today for online reading. The print issue will follow soon. This issue has an article I wrote quite a few months ago looking at the Starpath Supercharger for the Atari 2600, so be sure to check it out. Shoot 'Em Ups..... we love to button mash on them at the arcades. But its not all about slamming those buttons as Walter Day talks about in the Art of Shooting! Or how about the greatest Atari 2600 Shooters by Brett Weiss, and the Darius Series arcade games that Adam Pratt talks about on page 28. Plus cool articles on PUCK-Man being renamed, Horowitz's History talking bout 32X - Star Wars Arcade plus Mini Arcades, Ed Kelley, Tetris and Joseph Saelee and more! Read all about it! Even better subscribe to the print edition and get it in your mailbox too! Read Here: https://www.oldschoolgamermagazine.com/magazineosg/osg08/

Guess what? Today is the 40th anniversary of The Dukes of Hazzard! So how about a thread about Cooter's Place? Last spring I visited Cooter's Place in Nashville, TN. It is a Dukes of Hazzard museum and souvenir shop owned by Ben Jones, who played Cooter in the series. There are also locations in VA and other parts of TN as well, and it's not uncommon for them to have former Dukes stars come to sign autographs. Here's a photo tour of my visit:

    Brian's Man Cave

No disrespect meant to anyone else's work but Halo 2600 may be the greatest Atari 2600 homebrew ever made. That would have done so well had it been released in 1982. I'll also place Thrust+ Platinum by Thomas Jentszch up there along with Juno First for 2600 by Chris Walton. Lots of great people out there doing amazing things on these old game systems. Halo may be the one that I give the most play.

Halo and Army of Darkness are the only 2600 Homebrews I have and I really like them!

Also it's cool that Coleco made the Dukes of Hazard pedal car (6:10) in addition to the video game. I always wishes Atari had dabbled more in "toys" of some sort. The ability of Coleco to market toys alongside video game systems, cartridges and mini arcades was a big draw to IP holders like MCA Universal or Nintendo. Atari kinda sorta almost got there with the little handheld games and Cosmos but none of that R&D stuff ever saw the light of day.

That's a great little tour NSG! I LOVE seeing stuff like this posted in the forums! Weekend adventures, trips to distant lands, arcades, tourist spots or even just a small glimpse into our day. I think it really adds something special here. I used to love the Dukes of Hazard when I was young. What little boy doesn't like fast cars, jumps and crashes? Especially when nobody's getting hurt. I've seen Ben Jones in recent years on TV and he seems to do a lot to keep the memory of the show alive which is nice. I always love when actors who were involved in a classic TV show (who probably don't get paid much or receive any residuals) love their character and the show they were on long after its run. Thank you for sharing this!

ITC # 50 - has been replaced with a new video. This was done because I had comments (Mostly be email) advising me to remove the video since the original board featured in that earlier video was no longer available and had been replaced with a different board set. This new ITC # 50 episode details the installation of this new board now known as the M1 Mini Mega. It is both an amplifier and mixer replacement board for use with the model 1 Genesis systems va0 - va6 only. There are a lot of odd edits in this one and that is because originally it was shot with the intention of showing both the M1 Mini Mega installation alongside an M1 Double Mega board installation. However, the M1 DBL Mega isn't available currently and I already have a separate video detailing the installation of that board. Thanks for watching as always and comments are always welcome!

3 SMS Versions in 1 Picture

I'll save the Game Gears for another post. I have one of the Majesco GG's. I also love the look of the OG SMS. You nailed it: black wedge with red splotch = eye catchy for sure.

Uploaded today is ITC#54 where you come with me to see the process of replacing the capacitors on a model 1 Sega Genesis. The video is sped up through most of it but was originally shot in real time so that you can get an idea on the amount of time involved with a project like this. Features a few midi tunes as captured from my Roland MT-200. So sit back, relax, and see what is takes to replace the capacitors in a classic console such as the Sega Genesis featured in this video:

Been a while since I did a real video on my channel and that is simply because I've been busy with clients sending me their systems for modification and repairs. However, I decided to use that oppurtunity with a 7800 I was working on to come up with this short video regarding compatibility issues with some 2600 games on the 7800. Especially those 7800s made in the late 80s. ITC# 53 demonstrating some of the compatibility issues that are commonly known and one very simple and quick fix I tend to use to correct most of those issues in one go. Enjoy and thanks again for watching!
