    Do you have any pets?

I have two black labs, Winston & Wanda. Iโ€™m down to one cat, Poe, & a turtle. ๐Ÿ˜€ This is Winston. He turned 11 yesterday. We had a nice romp on the beach to celebrate.

The Greatest American Hero... I still remember the episode shown in the intro where he just appears in the car. See, if you haven't seen it, the lead character is a history teacher who is given a super suit by aliens. But he loses the instructions, so he never knows exactly how it works. One of the running gags was that he figured out how to fly, but not how to land. So every landing was a crash landing. Anyway, in that episode, he discovered that he could become invisible with the suit, but he didn't know how to turn it on or off. So the whole episode has him randomly popping in and out. With, of course, him trying to sneak around while invisible and hoping he doesn't suddenly become visible...

    Do you have any pets?

In my life, I have raised three ferrets, just not all at once. Their names were Snickers, Pepsi, and Cola. They were cool little pets. Snickers was alone, while Pepsi and Cola were litter mates. Fun little guys, those ferrets. :O)

    Control Issues

    Your first car

An older thread, but so what. lol Here's a pic of my first three vehicles. My first was the 1973 Datsun pickup. This was after I wrecked it (damage to front... not really shown in pic). I didn't have the camper shell on there when I drove it. We put it on to sell with it to the guy who was going to use it for parts or something. Man I wish I still had that truck. My dad bought it from my uncle for $300 and it came with a riding lawnmower in the back. I still say my dad actually bought the lawnmower and my uncle threw the truck in for free. It had a good bit of electrical issues and the brakes sometimes went out (had to adjust them regularly), but the engine ran perfect. Second was the 86(?) Nissan 200SX. My first (and only ever) actual car. Everything else has been trucks or SUVs. This was a pretty fun car. I felt sporty and fast in it, even though I wasn't particularly. And it had POP UP HEADLIGHTS! lol It was still in good running condition when I got my third vehicle, but my step-brother started using it and trashed it. And yeah, that's me standing next to it... no idea how old I was there... Third was the 95 Nissan Hardbody truck. I wish I still had this one, too. Extended cab and my first standard transmission. (Yep, the 73 Datsun was actually an automatic!) This one was the fist one I bought myself. Bought it used from it's original owner. Lasted me for quite a while. Then the front right wheel seized up... don't know if it was a bearing or the brakes or what... anyway, it looked like it was going to cost more to fix it than it was worth, so we "sold" it to the insurance company and bought another vehicle.

I think this port preserves a lot of the arcade elements and is a great effort. The core gameplay is there but some concessions are made due to the limitations of the hardware. The ability to "kill" fireballs, take out multiple enemies for score multipliers, and the "bounce" effect are all missing. I played the 7800 and NES ports tonight after work and the differences are pretty stark. Its good for what it is though and a fair bit better than something like Atari's Pac-Man or Coleco's efforts with 2600 Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr. Also, @RickR - Did GCC do this? I thought it was Dan Hitchens at Atari. He did some other titles like Berzerk, SwordQuest Earthworld, and Gravitar. All pretty good games too for the time.

I did a little more research and here is what I found: A May 22, 1984 article by David E. Sanger of the New York Times entitled "Atari Video Game Unit Introduced" (P.3 Section D) states: I guess thatโ€™s the answer, no matter what happened with Warner and the Tramiels, Atari was killing off the 5200. Itโ€™s crazy to think a game system could come and go in 18 months!

    Do you have any pets?

I thought this would be a nice topic for a conversation starter ๐Ÿ˜Š I have a long haired dachshund named Sally who is 7. She is very shy yet super protective. She loves going for car rides, boat rides, and getting occasional Puppacinos from Starbucks (whipped cream in a small cup). ๐Ÿ™‚ Sally is so sweet and I don't know what I would do without her! If you have pets, share their pics and a little about them below!

You make a good point, but I think the difference is that the N64 had several games that supported 4 players at the same time. Think of 007 Goldeneye with 4 player split screen. The only 4 player 5200 game I can think of is Super Breakout, and that's just the old standard one-player-at-a-time.
  26. 1 point
But... didn't the Atari 5200 originally come with 4 joystick ports? I mean, it had other issues, but the N64 wasn't the first console with 4 ports... (and the 5200 might not even be the first, but I know it's earlier than the N64...)

Memorable T.V. show themes we love

Atari - Crazy drug fueled commercials

Just having fun here, ATARI was king back in the day, hell must have been a blast to work there in the early days (we've heard the stories) but commercials like THIS you'd likely never see today ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜† I mean, I LOVE IT but the ending especially did kind of make me go WTF? ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜† Nothing was too insane or out there back in the day, would love to have been a fly on the wall during these marketing pitches! Do you have any pets?

Under normal circumstances, my wife and I usually do our grocery shopping once a month at Wal-Mart. We used to go when 3rd shift starts or a little before. Christmas gets to go with us and has to make her rounds to see the crew she loves the most. We can't do our shopping until then. She doesn't like men other than me generally but has a male store manager she absolutely loves. Another employee when he sees her always goes to the deli, gets a chicken strip, and gives it to her. Even the store manager loves her and has said she is welcome there any time. Give a hug to all the furry children for me! And Hi, Sally.

"Puppacinos." That's pretty cool, Gianna. When I go with my friends out to the bank and restaurants, they bring their two dogs with. They get regular dog treats from the bank, but ice cream from Dairy Queen and Culver's, playfully called "pup cups." Those are free for the dogs at both locations. That is a pretty cool incentive. I like my friends' dogs. They are rescued dogs. One was homeless for a while, and the other was abused. He was taken from his original owner by police. They were fostered together and then they came to be with my friends. Fun pups, they are.

    Do you have any pets?

I decided to update my post to include the "pets" we actually do currently have. Wild animals in the backyard. We back right up to a small wetlands, so we get tons of birds, coyotes, deer, ducks, quail, etc. Here's a few I recently captured on camera.

    Do you have any pets?

Christmas is the furry child I have now. She is my wife's service animal when we are out and about but pretty much my child when we are home. Nothing like Daisy but very unique in her own ways. Never shy...always wants the first to greet and get attention. She makes her presence known. This is the first day we got her and ... \ โ€ฆ 9 years later. She sleeps with me in "my" bed. Yes...that's the same dog. LOL. Love her dearly. The only thing she doesn't like is storms.

    Do you have any pets?

Ah! Here she is. My long haired Jack. Name was Daisy. Very smart dog. Loved her a lot. Only dog I didn't need a leash for. She'd stay right by my side. If she DID stray too far all I had to say was her name and she'd come right back. I have more photos of her. She loved car rides. She also had a bug fetish (eww).

My favorites at the moment are: A customized CX-40 that I got from @AtariBrian He replaced the little metal indent switches with microswitches. It's awesome. SlikStik. The custom pad I got from @StormSurge. Perfection in pad form. I think it's made by Retrogameboyz. But my memory is weak. And PS - I've wanted a Starplex for a long time. I saw one recently and was always thought it would be bigger. Still, I want one.

    Your first car

My first car, I had to share with my older sister. It didn't work out so well. It was a 76 Olds Delta 88. I don't have a pic of it but mine (ours) was white. I fit eleven people in that car one time during high school. I loved that car. It hardly failed to start up during those frigid Chicago winters. I wouldn't mind driving one today if it weren't for the horrendous gas mileage...

    Your first car

I don't have any original pictures of me and my first car any more, I don't think, but it was a 1976 Monte Carlo with a 400 big-block and Quadro-Jet 4-barrel carb. It was Canary yellow. Net picture below, just imagine that in yellow, and a guy with long, dirty blond hair and wearing a leather biker jacket with a Camel sticking out of his mouth and you have me. Of course I owned it in about '86. God, I loved that car and beat the living hell out of it street racing and doing dry pavement donuts and we (me and buddies) would hold the brakes and spin the tires on our cars to see who could do the biggest smoke show, in the high school parking lot of course, until the principal broke it up! I went through a LOT of used tires on that car, and surprisingly, never blew the motor or dropped the transmission! I did drive it through the woods once, just stoned and drunk, with a load of friends, and nearly wedged it between two trees! I made it through, but had big dents and scrapes down both sides of it after that!
