  1. The blocky players always reminded me of cartoon illustrations of football players from way back like the 60s, but I see where you're coming from, Rick -- very close resemblance 🤣

  2. I'm surprised that I never associated playing certain games with the time of the year 🤔 With this giveaway, I am going to fix that. I'm going with American football 🏈 and will play the original Football for the 2600 in all its 4 on 4 smash mouth glory. It'll be a new tradition. I haven't played it since the early 80s. I also picked up Backyard Football from GoodDealGames recently, and this gives a very good reason to play it.

  8. The game is fun! Good choice. But the players look like gas pumps. I assume the team names are "Shell" vs. "Chevron".

  9. Tunnel Runner or Escape from the Mind Master are always good 'I'm being chased/spooky' games for Halloween to me to play! I use an UNO Cart to run the rom for Mindmaster as I don't have a Supercharger to actually play it on. For general fall I like Miniature Golf a little!

  10. I'm going with "Sky Diver" because nothing says "Fall" like jumping out of a plane.

  11. I'll pre-empt the winter one and say "Frostbite" 🙂 For Halloween - Haunted House since I had it as a kid, but I do like Frankenstein's Monster a lot now that I've played it

  13. It seems like only last week we were playing Galaxian... Demon Attack's a fun one, though. These Squad Challenges are great for making me replay old games that I haven't touched in a while or don't remember too fondly. Or just introducing me to new ones in general. But anyways, Demon Attack. It's good. I'm seriously considering taking @Atari Creep up on his offer. Speaking of the Creep, I'm working on your Haunted House Adventure game for ya, man.

  14. It's so crazy to think how you were able to blaze through all that work that took me over a year to put together in such a short time, LOL.

  15. Just to clarify, when I say this time of year, it can refer to anything from fall, including Halloween, Baseball, Football or whatever. 🧟‍♂️🍁🥧🏈

  16. My favorite game to play on Halloween that's on the Atari 2600? Well, that's easy. Shocker alert! It's Tunnel Runner again! My favorite 2600 game of all-time is even more enjoyable this season than usual, as the Zots (enemies in the game) always jump-scare me! When I was younger, my sister and I used to scream every time we heard that ominous tune... dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun... I first played Tunnel Runner around the Fall season. To me, this game will always be the most special around the Halloween and Thanksgiving season. Thanks, @nosweargamer for hosting another wonderful giveaway! One of these brought me over to the site, and hopefully this too will bring more members to our Atari I/O community.

  18. Thanks. That's right. Take pics of the stuff you put in too, but don't post them until the end. I remember one box where we tried to make it travel as far as possible. It criss-crossed the USA several times!

  19. Just clarify, participants should also take pictures of what they put in, but wait to post them until the box gets back to Rick. One box I did had its own website with a map where you could follow the progress of the box, using usps tracking iirc, and click on destinations to see pics of the stuff taken. It was really cool. My guess is someone really smart had some extra time on their hands, lol.

  20. I haven't ever calculated the full time. I'd guess about a week per person with an extra week thrown in as a fudge factor. You, of course, are always welcome when you feel comfortable joining. I took pictures of everything I put in, which I will post once the box makes it back to me. Each participant will post pics of the stuff they took out when they receive the box. They then refill the box and send it off to the next victim. Have fun everyone! That's what this is all about. Oh, and I meant to label one item as I'm not sure if people will know it's purpose. But I forgot. It's a bottle opener.

  21. @RickR awesome! How long do these things normally take, round-trip? And when it's all done will everyone be posting what they took out/put in here? I hope to participate if you all do another one of these next year. For now, though, I just can't pay for shipping on such a big item AND get stuff to put in it. Hopefully by next time this thing happens, the pandemic will have at least died down enough for me to get a job. On an unrelated note, I have recently made a small map of the continental United States. I traced it on wax paper out of a dictionary and put that over some printer paper so you can't see through it. Since I don't have enough wall space to hang it up, I attached the tiny map to a tiny cardboard box. I have stuck push pins in every place where I got a game with a few exceptions. Wisconsin on the map is too tiny to place all the pins I need in it! It's pretty cool that I got these games from all these places in the USA via the internet that I've never been to personally.

  22. The box will be on it's way very soon. In the meantime, here is a preview. It is jam-packed with good junk. It is my sincerest hope that everyone finds something they like in the box.

  23. I'm almost done listening to this podcast :( I wish I started collecting Atari 7800 games five years ago. Ten year old me would have totally sent in some written feedback or audio submissions had I known about this podcast and collected 7800 games back then. Great podcast, @nosweargamer. I'm sad that it's over. Good news is that now that I have the podcast app on my phone I can listen to some other podcasts, like the 7800 homebrew, 2600, and 5200 podcasts.

  34. @nosweargamer I don't know how you do what you do (as a content creator) on top of your personal, family, and job obligations. I barely manage being entertained by you and playing a few Atari games. Edit: And I haven't had a chance to listen to your 7800 podcasts yet

  36. 24,585 I played Demon Attack once or twice a few months ago and liked it. I'm glad this squad challenge is giving me reason to play it everyday. I started out using the Starplex controller thinking that pressing buttons might help me react faster, but the arcade joystick (the buttons are lit) is working out great and that's what I've been using the last couple of days.

  38. FYI - I will play on Stella as I don't have hardware hooked up here. (Small, but nice abode.) To that end, I haven't used Stella in ages so this may take a little while lol.

  39. 22,305 About a 1% improvement 🙄 but improvement nonetheless so I'll take it 🙃 My main strategies after the initial few waves are: Target the two demons that are not firing on your cannon. Avoid the demon firing on you and go for the other two demons. You gain no additional points for eliminating the demon attacking your cannon, so don't take on unnecessary risk. Survive, baby! Split the demon firing on you in half to reduce the width or spread of the barrage and then focus on shooting down the other demons as much as possible. Shoot down the diving kamikaze-style demons as they are worth more points. Don't let them get away.
