  1. Another personal best for me. My aim is getting better and my strategy seems solid. My main problem is I get overconfident with shooting the bats as they dive towards me instead of just dodging them. The vast majority of lives lost is trying to hit bats as they dive. 35,445

  2. I have been playing the heck out of this one - and I finally got an improvement worth posting. I feel like I have a sound strategy (split the non-shooting demons into bats, then go after the shooting demon. Once she is spit, go after the non-shooting bat partner. When she starts descending - shoot as many bats as possible to keep them from turning into shooters. Once a demon makes it to the lowest level - repeat.) Now I just need to work on my aim! 25,350

  3. Thanks! I really like how my game room turned out. I would love to do a tour of it, but it is usually a mess (They way a good game room should be). One of these days when I get it cleaned up I will make a video about it 🙂

  4. Can I just say I dig your setup? Both the VCR and System selector look similar to one's I've had. And I think I spy a Superman Super Friends figure I has as a kid! And of course, bonus points for Svengoolie!

  5. Yeah, Tunnel Runner is one of those spooky games. As in Mind Master. Someone mentioned Ghostbusters, which kinda slipped my mind as a 'fall game', because it's one of my top favorites, but I play it at least once a month so it kinda slipped for it being connected to a specific season for me. 6. I didn't post. The box made it to my house on Friday as I was about to leave for Orlando for the weekend. I did open it and it is PACKED! I'll have to see what I take out so I can put stuff in. 😉

  9. Here's another Atari 8-bit game that is really good, yet I always have trouble remembering the name. It's a Pac-Man clone, except the screen is much larger, and the section of maze you are on is magnified. The game has speech, and a cool rendition of "La Cucaracha". It took me some searching, but the name is.....Tumble Bugs http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-tumble-bugs_5548.html

  10. I know I’ve had a few in the past. Mostly 2600 games I played on my Wii emulators that had abbreviated names as their ROM files and I never knew the full title of them. Eventually I forgot the ROM name too and couldn’t ID the game at all. I can’t remember any right now.

  11. I used to think I was pretty familiar with the Atari 8-bit game catalog, and I don't remember anything about those cartridges from CBS. I guess maybe they're more edu-tainment so I probably shut them out of mind. The only game I had trouble remembering was Astro Chase. I knew the box art but couldn't remember the name. Just like you, I ran into an ebay listing one day. I sometimes browse through ebay listings for A8 stuff just to see what's there, and I see games from time to time that I had completely forgotten. I think the last one I found was Silicon Warrior by Epyx. The box art really helps to jog the memory.

    Got One!!

I usually always miss out on presales for popular items but I’m buying the lede. The most amazing thing about this is that I somehow managed to keep a $400 gift card balance on Amazon for over a year, specifically for this purpose. I still have time to increase that amount & have it fully paid for by shipping time. This will be my first launch console since the Dreamcast. I’m not overly excited for this as I was for the DC but I’m sure that will change as launch day approaches.

  15. It is not uncommon for off brands to be rebranded versions of other brands. I would not be surprised if it were literally the same unit as another brand on the market.

  16. It's Daewoo brand? it's nothing fancy, but I bought it new back in the day and I like it because it gets pretty good picture and sound.

  17. DataSoft! They published a lot of memorable games for the Atari 8-bit. I have Zaxxon CIB. Bruce Lee is probably the one I played the most from DataSoft. I don't remember anything about Tumble Bugs. Love the art and often times cliche and corny game backstory ❤️ 🕹️

  18. This topic came up during our Wed night chat. I thought it would make a good post. Have you ever had a hard time remembering and finding a video game from your youth? Here's my story. Back during the video game crash, I remember purchasing a game cart in the Kay-Bee clearance bin for the Atari 800XL. I remember playing the game a little bit and absolutely hating it. One of the dumbest games I'd ever seen. It was a game that had to do with marching bands. And I don't remember what became of it. It probably got tossed or sold at some point. Well, the 800XL got stored away in the late 80's. It wasn't until I discovered emulation many years later that I got back into what was now "retro" gaming. And I could search for and find all my old game ROMS on the internet. All but that weird marching band game. Searches turned up nothing. Eventually, I started to question if I had imagined the whole thing. Did it ever even exist? But then...just this last week...I saw an ebay listing....and BOOM! Do you see it? Aha! The problem was that I always searched for the word "marching", and the game didn't have that word in the title. It's "Halftime Battlin' Bands"! HOLY COW! IT DID EXIST! And looking up the gameplay on youtube also confirmed my initial assessment -- this game was TERRIBLE!

Here you go. It has another input up front with a headphone jack, too. The rear has a really weird connector I've never seen before. And here you go. On a side note, this TV is a mixed breed. It says Toshiba but only one processor in the TV is Toshiba branded. The tube was made by Orion (remember them?), the DVD player by Sanyo who in 2002 was a respected brand that did make quality products. That's who made my other CRT that I absolutely love to use. The yoke attached to the tube has JVC on it. Other processors in the TV are also branded Orion or JVC. Everything works in this unit but that top of the screen. The image is not altered by those lines but it does seem to be struggling with something.

  34. 73,560 Feels like Friday today for some reason, and I was able to muster better focus. Game on 🕹️🕹️ The game doesn't appear to ramp up in difficult after a certain point, so it becomes a matter of sustained focus. I mentioned this before but an important strategy is to avoid the demon raining down the laser/bullets and go after the other demons. I have to remind myself not to engage the weaponized demon if possible and go after the others. As part of that strategy, when the weapon demon splits into two, go after the one that is not firing. Eliminating that one will cause the weaponized demon to dive, and it's a double win. You minimize exposure to demon fire, and get extra points for eliminating the weaponized demon once it starts to dive. I need to get some awesome PJ or lounge pants. Shorts and bare legs are so bleh when it's autumn 🍂🍁

  35. Earlier today, I went to Aurora Antique Pavilion, a place that housed dozens of independently owned booths selling antiques and collectibles, which was featured in a recent Metal Jesus Rocks YouTube video. I had previously lived in the city where the antique pavilion is located for 20+ years and had never been there despite having visited another store in the same building. In addition to seeing the place in the MJR video, what really piqued my interest was reading someone's comment that places like this are what flea markets now look like. I had never been to a flea market, but you always hear about people finding big bargains in such venues, so I wanted to see a real flea market. The place was big and I got lost briefly once or twice. It was an awesome place, and I had a lot fun browsing stuff from decades past. I'll definitely be back. Anyway, I didn't find anything interesting to me video game wise, but I didn't want to leave empty handed. I went to one small booth that had a small vinyl collection, and I was ecstatic when I found the vinyl soundtrack of Thunderball, my favorite 007 movie. I just love the jacket art. The LP hasn't been played from the looks of it, and the jacket is in great condition. I picked up two other albums from the same booth. What are your flea market shopping experiences?
