Wondering if I did something wrong on here.🤔 I posted something only for it to be hidden and needing moderator approval. I'm confused.

💻 I remember the days of AOL chat when most people couldn’t upload or send pics online yet, and so you just had to guess if a girl was attractive based on how she described herself and whether she had a cute screen name like “AbercrombieGirl17” or something.
The first girl I ever had an e-relationship with I met on Tumyeto Skate Chat (long gone website) in 1996. Her username was “*~luckycharms~*or something. Talked on the phone with her every night for months and had no idea what she looked like until she mailed me a letter and photo

Retro TV shows! Three months ago in early October 2020, I ordered these DVD sets from ebay. For a month, the tracking number indicated that USPS hadn't received the package from the seller. I believed the seller when she said that she did ship, but what can you do? After I waited a month, and without fuss, she gave me a refund. Today, out of the blue, they showed up in my mail box. I already bought them from another seller on ebay couple of months ago. These are in better condition than my other new and sealed sets. Anyone want to trade DVD box sets of old TV shows? 🙂
After re-acquiring a tube TV and appreciating how it does wonders with older games and media, I've re-embraced DVD content. Many old TV shows are only available on DVD, and I've purchased a several (Munsters, I Dream of Jeannie, Bionic Woman, 6M Dollar Man, My Living Doll, some Korean shows) during the past six months after holding out for Blu-ray releases.

⚠️ When creating a thread, be sure to start a real conversation. Include content and not just links that redirect to your site.
-
Redirect only stuff should be limited to status updates and the like. To me, this is a bit misleading and only clogs up the forums.

You got it @DegasElite. I want to make sure people understand this is a community, we're all here for the conversation. In the context of starting a thread to promote a Member's YouTube videos or Podcast, we encourage that! We have forums here set up for that very reason, we encourage our Members to create their very own dedicated thread and share their new videos and Podcasts to it in series. If a Member has a website, a new project or game they want to promote, we encourage that too! It needs to be conversational though. Atari I/O is not the place to post a teaser with a link elsewhere, or only show up to promote your own wares. It's got to be conversational.
Here's an I/O ProTip: Think of the Forums as a holiday party. You've been invited over, there are Snacks and hors d'oeuvres being served, everybody is in the spirit of things and having a great time. You walk up to everyone and say "Here's 10 Reasons Why Atari 5200 Sucked Hard" and give a link to your video. That's clickbait-y and hucksterish. Instead, when creating a new thread, be sure to start a real conversation. It's great to share links to your stuff! We encourage that! We support everybody who helps make sure this hobby continues on. But you have to include substantive content in your new topics, not just clickbait links or sales pitches.

A quick review of the "Super Mario Bros Game & Watch". One of my kids got one as a gift, and I've borrowed it while they weren't looking.
Quick summary: It's awesome. Worth the price.
My opinion is that Super Mario Bros on NES is a masterpiece. The colors, the music, the level designs, the bright graphics. All perfect. And this little device captures all that. At first, the controls seem a little slippery, but that's just because the screen is so small. Once you get used to that, it's all good. The screen is nice and bright. The music sounds great. It's so well done.
Bravo to Nintendo for doing nostalgia products with such high quality.
I've seen a lot of complaints about "no kickstand". Really? OK. If that's all there is to complain about, I think it speaks highly about this product.
-
Haha good points Rick, and I agree! I get the collectability in this but I hope some owners unbox it and have fun, it looks really neat

Wonderful little review in your status update @RickR! Describing Super Mario Bros. as a "masterpiece" is just perfect. I'm glad to see they did a nice job with this. It's everything I would've wanted back then! Loved your final thought on the "no kickstand" comments. Some classic gamers feel like they have to always have a snarky comment or something to criticize or they're not getting their name out there or having something to say. Sometimes it's okay to just love something for what it is.

✨ Happy New Year everyone! (and Merry Christmas!) A little late >_<, I ended up getting a bad cold Christmas Eve and have been resting a lot. 2 flu tests, 2 strep tests, and a covid test later it turned out to just be a bad cold (luckily!). I'm slowly starting to feel better 🤧

Happy New Year! We are now only 63 years away from the great robot takeover...

TUESDAY NIGHT CHAT!
I will be in the chat tonight (around 7:15pm Pacific). My goal is to try a few rounds of emulated Cybermorph for the high score challenge. Join me if you'd like to see how that goes. Maybe you need guidance on setting up an emulator. Maybe offer me some tips on the game. Or whatever you'd like to chat about.
-
Every year at about this time, I get super nostalgic for Metroid.
-
Isn't that interesting how that happens? Same thing happens to me, for different games and systems. Thanksgiving and Christmas always puts me in the mood for Cybermorph and F-ZERO. Spring Break makes me crave summertime with California Games on Atari Lynx, especially the Surfing and BMX games. Summer Vacation makes me want to pull out the Sega Master System. I think these times of year correlates to memories of these games, which makes us pull them out and play them every year at that time, which after a while becomes a tradition.

Before and after pictures of my "gaming credenza". I cleaned up a bit to make some room to add a Nintendo 64.
With a full house due to the pandemic, this is all the space I have to work with for retro gaming. There are several systems in here:
- Wii (with GameCube support)
- Retron 3 (NES, SNES, Genesis)
- PS2
- Atari 2600jr
- N64

Planning to get that new Game & Watch Super Mario Bros with my birthday money, but it looks like a repeat of the NES Classic from a couple years ago. Everyone is sold out. But, I will prevail. Just gotta wait till Walmart restocks...any day now.

😎 Who feels like playing MAME?
-
@DegasElite You can emulate this game by any means necessary so long as you're playing the original ROM. 👍
