Seems like the Raspberry Pi 400 is our modern day equivalent of the Commodore 64. A capable computer for you or your kids for $99

🏈 Hope everybody enjoyed the Superbowl! Today is the last day for 10-Yard Fight! Tomorrow we begin a new Squad Challenge for TG16

🍄 I never understood the hate against resurrecting old topics. If you have something new & interesting to add to the conversation, I welcome it! We can only have so many different threads about the same topics. After 40 years there can only be so many duplicate E.T. threads, so many Pac-Man threads, etc. I say go for it!

🎳 Only a few more days left in our BOWLING Squad Challenge! Let's get those Strikes in by Tuesday, Jan 31st!

And Will Riker & Troi the Betazoid were clearly a reimagining of Will Decker & Ilia the Deltan

I just read a fascinating set of books about Star Trek (The Fifty Year Mission / Marc Altman) with all kinds of juicy gossip and behind-the-scenes info. Examples: Bob Justman came up with and pushed for Patrick Stewart as Jean Luc Picard. Gene Roddenberry HATED the idea but eventually gave in due to not finding his ideal. He figured that Will Riker would take on that action/Kirk role, which is something you see a lot of in season 1.
Anyway, I highly recommend those two books. I checked them out at the library.

I always loved that Intellivision used the Mary Tyler Moore font. All this hate w/ the Amico - but love is all around, no need to waste it!

Absolutely! I noticed that in 1994 when Nick-at-Nite started airing The Mary Tyler Moore Show in reruns. I never had Intellivision, but my friend Jon grew up with it in their house (they were definitely the George Plimpton types and enjoyed a good game of cards on the Intv). It was a rainy evening at his house in the 90s, we had the Intellivision out (they still had the box, which I thought was awesome) and as we finished up a few rounds of Astrosmash, we turned it off just as Mary Tyler Moore was coming on, and I thought - Oh look! Intellivision used the MTM font! How 70s of them! 😀

I started watching that show on Hulu. What an amazing cast!
Not having followed the Amico much, I will say that I don't see a lot of hate for it. Rather, I believe that gamers just want it available to the public. Anyone would get tired of hearing 'Coming Soon' for any product or service that doesn't arrive.
(Unless it's actually out; I've been out of pocket for most of this week.)

Congrats to @RickR for getting the Gold Key! The Gold Key is the highest rank a Member can achieve in Atari I/O. It’s taken Rick 7 years of dedication to get there. Thanks for being a special part of our community Rick!

@MaximumRD I'm glad you like what I did! Do you remember Rob, back when we were actively communicating on YouTube, tagging everyone in our videos and filming responses to Steve Benway, AtariLeaf, Mr. Intellivision etc.? This would've been around 2009-2010. I created a small website, it was like a little experiment called "The Daily Bomb" at getdevious.com/thebomb (it's long gone now) It was partially "The Onion / The Babylon Bee for Classic Gaming" with parody headlines etc, but the homepage had dropdown menus and hyperlinks to everything and everywhere interesting on line that had to do with classic gaming. There was even a page called "The Bomb Sixteen" with 16 of our favorite and most active Twitter feeds, all shown on one page. I really liked that "hub" idea, that someone could set us as their default home page whenever they open their browser and quickly link to everything interesting within the world of classic gaming. I'd like to incorporate more of that idea into Atari I/O moving forward. Maybe in some very big ways. I'm glad after all these years you're still out there creating content and that you're still you 😉🍻

🕹️ Tonight we wrap up Cybermorph & tomorrow we begin our 2021 F-ZERO Christmas Challenge on SNES!
-
I've had so much fun with Cybermorph! Now that I have real hardware, it's been a blast. That moment I figured out it's more of an exploration game is the moment I really appreciated how great the game is. I'll try to give it one more run this afternoon after work.
And F-Zero is a blast! I can already hear the theme music in my mind. Looking forward to this.
-
It's so great to hear that @RickR! Contrary to the popular perception that's out there, the Jaguar has a few gems! Cybermorph is a misunderstood game in some ways. People like to compare both Cybermorph and Trevor McFur to Star Fox because of the polygon ships and the cat theming, but it's not a good comparison. Cybermorph was the first 3-D exploration game I ever experienced, and it just blew me away. My whole family enjoyed it. I saw it as 3-D Pac-Man with the yellow diamond shaped pods as the Pac-Man pellets.
Looking forward to seeing you in Mute City tomorrow!

🎧 Currently listening to Tony Clifton - Man On The Moon. Tony Clifton, an absolute CLASS ACT! To come out and funeralize that dead kid after he spent so many years using Tony Clifton's good name to get places. Absolute king.

@greenween I duno about that Kaufman. Many people say a lot of things. I don't believe it you don't believe it, I don't see it you don't see it, mean it clean it be it. Where is Kaufman today, huh? Tony Clifton is still a working performer:
