  1. I see Earthworm Jim made the list! I'm as excited for that as anything. That's great news that they are adding more games!
  2. Absolutely! I remember seeing those stacked up at Toys R Us when the TurboGrafx-16 was brand new. I thought it was the coolest looking arcade stick at the time. I've always wanted one for the TurboDuo. I may modify one or just use an adapter. Absolutely sexy as hell! The TurboDuo too! TurboDuo had that nice, low-slung look like the Atari 7800 and Neo-Geo. I love it. Good luck! Rooting for you to pick one up soon!
  3. What was the first thing you ever bought on eBay? For me it was an original brochure for the 1981 DeLorean DMC-12. I won the auction in the fall of 1996 and had to create an eBay account just to bid on the item. It was for sale from an older gentleman who lived in Connecticut. This was before PayPal was widely adopted, so payment instructions were to call the gentleman on the phone first, and then send a check or money order in the mail. I won the auction for $30. It seemed like such a big deal at the time. "What if it's a scam?". Sure enough the brochure arrived about a week later in the mail in minty fresh condition and I was thrilled. Then I realized I could buy hard to find Atari games there too. 23 years later here we are.
  4. That screen is super small how can anyone even see that?
  5. Great collection! Blazing Lasers is one of my favorite games of all time. Galaga '90, R-TYPE, Military Madness, Devil's Crush, Raiden, Legendary Axe, Ninja Spirit, each one of those games is reason enough alone to buy a TurboGrafx-16. Great to have another Turbo gamer here in the forums! 🙌
  6. Welcome to the forums @Control Issues!! I'm glad you saw the Twitter posts and decided to come check things out, it's awesome to have you join us. AA people are always welcome here. I hope you enjoy your times in the Atari I/O Forums, it's a nice community with some great people. We meet up in the chatroom every Wednesday night and have other events throughout the year. I think you'll fit right in. If there's anything you need just let me know. WELCOME!!
  7. BTW @Atari Creep I love your thumbnail for this one, that's a great image lmao 😂
  8. WELCOME to the forums @Control Issues!! It's great to have you join us! Great score
  9. It's hard to imagine consoles disappearing. I think there will be a lot of resistance to that. VCRs, DVD players and CD players have all but disappeared though, for the most part morphing into a single box in our living room. It will be interesting to see if video games are the next thing to get sucked into that box.
  10. That's a BEAUTIFUL homebrew! I wish a Warlords game of this caliber had been available when the 5200 was new to the market. What a great game.
  11. Me too! I think it's so interesting that Shazam and Captain Marvel are both out at the same time.
  12. I was thinking the same thing!! Warlords is one of my all-time favorite games that Atari ever made! 4 player fun, such an obvious winner and yet we never saw it on the 5200, 7800, etc. A little handheld would be perfect now. They gave us two Breakouts but no Warlords. I can only hope that it's in the works.
  13. Unfortunately I think we're going to see consoles phased out entirely, as we know them. We already have apps for our phones and iPads, Apple TV and Alexa. Eventually most gaming that happens on the television screen will either be powered by one of those devices or by the smart TV itself. The rise of platforms like Google Stadia are an example of this industry shift. What does that future look like? Think of the results. No physical copies, no resale market, stores such as GameStop will dry up, as will video game departments in other retail locations. It all sounds so boring. I hope this won't be the case. We will always have these classic games and consoles as long as we keep them alive.
  14. Only if this gets to the point where we're left with no choice. Try your best to capture your scores and we'll go from there.
  15. Hey guys, I missed this issue when I was testing out R-TYPE before publishing it as our Squad Challenge. I always check for issues like these first, but I also feel wrong about playing the game too much and getting all that practice time in before announcing the game. I like to participate in High Score Squad with you guys and never give myself an unfair advantage. This is why arcade games should always have a Scoreboard screen where you can see your score and enter your initials! If capturing your score becomes too much of a problem we'll implement an "Honor Code" rule - for this one game only - to allow you to post your high score even if you weren't able to take a picture in time. I would hate for one of you to have a really great run and then not be able to use that score. You guys gotta know what your score is though and it has to be accurate. Try your best to pause right at the end to take a picture first so this doesn't become a big problem. That adds another layer of skill and chance to the challenge too.. "should I pause and take a pic or keep going?" Good luck everyone! R-TYPE is brutal and I hope you're all enjoying the TurboGrafx-16 port!
  16. The character we know as Shazam first hit the silver screen in 1941... as Adventures of Captain Marvel, a 1941 American 12-chapter black-and-white movie serial from Republic Pictures. This video is a brief documentary about the production of the first comic book superhero adaption to film.

MORE: To review detailed rules on how to play, please visit the High Score Squad page here: https://forums.atari.io/topic/1219-high-score-squad-how-to-play/ MESSAGE: Welcome to our 57th Squad Challenge! THIS 💥 GAME 💥 IS 💥 HARD! Absolutely unforgiving and so much fun. This time we're digging deeper into the TurboGrafx-16 game library and exploring a genre that shined on the TurboGrafx: SHMUPS. To RickR, Atari Creep, and others of you who are just joining the world of TurboGrafx, I highly recommend checking out this game, especially if you enjoy arcade shooters. TurboGrafx-16 did shoot 'em ups right! There are so many great ones to pick from on TurboGrafx-16 and PC Engine, and today we're playing one of the very best. I think you'll agree that the TurboGrafx port of R-TYPE outshines the other home ports of the time. The graphics and sound really give this game a boost. Here's a PRO TIP: If you're playing R-TYPE on original hardware, now is the time to make the most of those rapid-fire Turbo Switches on your TurboPad controller. Explore the different rapid-fire settings and find the strategy that works best for you. ROM and Instruction Manual are provided below. Good luck to everyone playing! R-Type.pce R-Type.pdf

  22. Awesome video @Br1ans Man Cave!!! Right out of the box you come out explaining that you need the manual, how to play the game, giving us some pretty nice tips. I have a soft spot in my heart for E.T. and I really appreciate you being fair to the game, not doing a clickbait E.T. rant like everybody else, actually taking the time to explain the game and help us Atari gamers get through the game and find something to enjoy. Well done.
  23. Absolutely! That's what it's all about. I'm glad you got to join us for High Score Squad, I hope all of you had a good time celebrating Pac-Man!
