  1. @Cryptocoffee13 I also want to recommend A.R.T.I. It's not the cheapest homebrew, but it's worth it. In my opinion it's better than H.E.R.O. and I love the cut scenes with the old man and the airplane. This is a nicely done game on the level of what I'd like to see Atari release for the 7800 and 2600+
  2. Even though original Berzerk is one of my all time favorite 2600 games I've been hesitant to play it again since I broke my joystick a few years ago when Evil Otto almost gave me a heart attack. That old tale is true about breaking joysticks playing this game. Now I have a nice new 2600+ with a brand new joystick and I hope it's built better than they used to be.
  3. Way to go Rick! I'll have to post scores for both versions.
  4. Fun SEGA trivia: According to Yu Suzuki, if Sega president Hayao Nakayama saw that a game's graphics were completed, he would consider the game finished and try to release it. To get around this -- since it was impossible to just show nothing when Nakayama came by -- Yu rigged a switch under his desk to wipe Space Harrier's color RAM, using it for on-demand graphical sabotage. During one of the times he did this, the effect looked so impressive, Yu extracted the data and kept it in as the game's actual colors.

  5. @7800 Pro Gamer I'd like to hear you dive deeper into your thoughts on this. I've always felt like I'm the only person who doesn't think Jinks is an awful game. It's not my favorite on the 7800, but it's interesting. With the trippy colors and Paddle, it always felt like it carried on some of that early DNA that Atari was made up of during the Nolan years. I liked that - at least to me - Atari tried to take the Ball and Paddle and place it in the world of a platformer. There were objects to bonk and things to discover, similar to a Super Mario style game that you'd see on the NES. I was also impressed by the voice synthesis at the title screen, even in 1994 I thought that was really cool. Most everybody else thinks Jinks sucks.
  6. Do you have any other 2600 compatible systems you can try it on, to confirm that it's an issue with the cartridge? I see that your 2600 Jr. is modded, it's always possible there's something Berzerk Enhanced doesn't like about that
  7. I love seeing user groups get back together and get rebooted. SPACE, the Saint Paul Atari Computer Enthusiasts is a great group that has been around since the beginning. We have active SPACE members in Atari I/O and they used to share their newsletters here. Nice to see user groups covered in your videos!
  8. I can't narrow it down to five without it being random. There are so many good, great, and underappreciated games on the Atari 7800 and also the Atari Lynx. Some are better than they are given credit for. Others were hindered by Jack's cost cutting measures that stripped good games of needed sound and RAM that could've made some games more competitive. There are also some terrific indie and homebrew games that you should dive into separately. Here is a list of Atari 7800 games I get the most enjoyment out of: Xevious Food Fight Mean 18 Ultimate Golf Centipede Joust Mario Bros. Ms. Pac-Man Xenophobe Pole Position II Mean 18 Ultimate Golf Pete Argon: Robot Holocaust
  9. I miss old Nick-at-Nite 🌛 and listening to it on late summer nights while I play SNES and Sega and Duo and Jag straight on till morning

@RobertLM78 Enjoy! If you like Cannon, you may want to check out Barnaby Jones. The two shows exist in the same "universe". The first episode of Barnaby Jones, "Requiem for a Son", featured a crossover with Cannon, with William Conrad guest-starring as detective Frank Cannon. There was another crossover between the two programs in the 1975 two-part episode "The Deadly Conspiracy". Worth checking out for a Cannon fan!
