    eBay FAILS

Here's a legendary eBay FAIL I came across today from @kingmonkey25 on Twitter. I've had almost the exact same thing happen to me at least once a year since the late 1990s: Sends game in padded envelope rather than a box that would've protected it (and costs the same to mail!) Uses the cheapest possible mailing service (probably saving about $2) Customer service skills? About as awful as you'd expect given the above
  4. What are the WORST EBAY FAILS you've come across?
  5. I never had a ColecoVision in the '80s either. I went right to the Atari 7800 which I would argue is a superior system. The ColecoVision wasn't on my radar until the early 1990s when I began collecting and would see them at garage sales and flea markets for around $30 with a few games. One time in the summer of 1994 I even ran into an older gentleman walking out of the mall carrying an open cardboard box with a ColecoVision and a bunch of games. I ran over to him, stopped him and asked about the ColecoVision. He had taken it into FuncoLand in our mall as a trade in, but they did not accept anything pre-NES, so he was returning to his car. He offered it to me for - guess how much - $30. I got his phone number, should've bought the system but never did. To this day I have never owned a real ColecoVision. It's been a blind spot in my personal gaming culture. I have a lot of appreciation for the ColecoVision, and I agree with every one of your points @RickR -- that as much as I love Atari, I would have enjoyed the games on ColecoVision much more. Between your blog post here, and what @Willie! has shown of the CollectorVision Phoenix in some of his videos, you are really selling me on this neat little system. Without the personal sentimental feelings of having grown up with the original unit, I would feel just fine having a CollectorVision Phoenix with modern connections under my TV to enjoy some of the best games the ColecoVision has to offer.
  6. Take a look at raw footage from the golden age of arcade gaming -- a classic arcade in Tokyo, Japan from 1979. This news story features Tokyo’s "World Game" arcade full of people pumping coins into the popular arcade machines of the day!
  7. I think it’s time we start a topic for discussing paranormal tales! Halloween is upon us and it’s a good time to share these haunting stories. I’m surprised there haven’t been more off topic discussions about the paranormal, UFOs, unsolved mysteries, disappearances, enigmas, ancient civilizations, ghost sightings, conspiracy theories, weird stuff and stuff of the night. I’m sure Atari I/O must have fans of shows like The X-Files in here, or Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell and George Noory, Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis, The ExoZone / Piercing the Veil, In Search Of, and others. UFOs were one of my earliest obsessions when I was a kid. One of the most enduring UFO tales is the story of Bob Lazar and his time working at S-4 near Area 51. For decades I've gone back-and-forth between believing his story and thinking he’s full of it. I have to give him credit though, in over 30 years Bob Lazar hasn’t changed his story. I’ve never listened to “The Joe Rogan Experience” until this episode, it turned out to be a decent, extended conversation with Bob Lazar and a deep dive into his story. I thought we’d kick things off with Bob Lazar. What are your favorite UFO, Ghost and Paranormal Tales? Let’s hear your favorite weird stories! All the stuff that was on Coast to Coast AM, and all the other stuff that’s great out there. Sound off and share below!
  8. Also, here's a little more about Zaccaria, the former Italian boutique manufacturer of beautiful Pinball tables: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaccaria_(company)
  9. It's an incredible experience, particularly the Zaccaria games which are bespoke and photorealistic. The lighting, shadows and haptic feedback all add to the sense of realism! Not necessarily! You can download the Zaccaria Pinball games on any of the modern platforms, look at the tables and even play them for free. There is a nice Zaccaria pack on Nintendo Switch. That being said, "the real Pinball experience" comes with the Zaccaria games played on the AtGames Legends Pinball machine. It's out of this world, and absolutely at home next to a Ms. Pac-Man cocktail arcade machine in your game room. The AtGames Legends Pinball has USB ports so you can connect an external hard drive or memory stick if you want. I started with zero knowledge too, and I'm still learning! It was @btbfilms76 who picked one up last year and has turned me onto them. They really are amazing! YES! It's currently on sale in store at Sam's Club. I've been to three different Clubs and they all have the AtGames Legends Pinball machines on display and playable in their seasonal sections with other fun Christmas items. Honestly this reminds me a bit of how ping pong tables used to be in the "rec room department" at Sears. This is the modern version of one of those items. Also, what I like about them being on display at Sam's Club is that you're actually able to walk up and play them. I stood there for like 20 minutes playing one of these. That was plenty of time to try it out, feel that "real Pinball experience" and decide that it was worth spending the money on. I felt like I was in an arcade on free play! If you were to end up getting one of these sometime @RickR we will have to do some 2-Player Challenges on some of these Pinball tables ☺️ If you have trouble finding one in person you can order one through Sam's Club here: https://www.samsclub.com/p/legends-pinball-home-arcade-2021/prod25380329?searchTerm=Atgames legends pinball
  10. These Zaccaria Pinball Packs are absolutely stunning. Beautiful, bespoke vintage pinball tables made in Italy. These look photo realistic on the AtGames Legends Pinball machine. I can't believe I don't see more people talking about these! I'm going to get every Zaccaria Pinball pack available and this will be something we keep in our house for decades to come. One thing I love about the Zaccaria Pinball Packs is that they can include 3 versions of a table, configured for different eras in history: ORIGINAL -- Solid state version of the game from the 1970s or 1980s REMAKE -- A modern version of the game had it been released today with modern table assets, mechanics, wire ramps and backglass RETRO -- A retro version of the game had it been made in the 1950s with simple bells and bumps, mechanics and roller displays This is one of the best kept secrets in the world of home game rooms, I highly recommend these:
  11. Yeah I've enjoyed your Collectorvision Phoenix videos too!
  12. Cool to see this played on an 8bitdo controller! @mmaxfit
  13. 🤔 What is your 2ND Favorite Video Game System of all time, and why?

    1. RickR

      RickR

Picking a 1st is a monthly debate in my head!

I'll say the 2600 is #1, so that puts the Atari 8-bit computers as #2.  Why?  I grew up with that system and I constantly find myself going back to those games.  It's one of the systems that I leave out and ready all the time.

Ask me next week and I might say NES or PS2.  It's so hard to rank them.

    2. DegasElite

      DegasElite

My very favorite being the Jag and the second on my list being the Genesis. They both have the 68000 series CPU in them for different purposes.

  15. 🤔 Here are a few Pro-Tips for scoring big in Soldier Blade:

  16. Here are a few Pro-Tips for scoring big in Soldier Blade: Read The Instruction Manual The instructions for Soldier Blade give a comprehensive overview of the different elements of the game, enemies and bosses, weapons, and what they are used for. Spend 5 minutes reading the manual, it's helpful and the PDF is provided above. Press SELECT to Adjust the Speed of Your Ship For When you start your game you may feel like the ship is a bit sluggish. You can control the speed if your ship by pressing the SELECT button on your TurboPad Controller. The game gives you two speed options: LOW and HIGH. I prefer the increased speed - it allows me to fly my ship all over the screen quickly, shooting down enemies and scoring as many points as I can within 5 minutes. Practice by Playing a Normal Game of Soldier Blade First Soldier Blade is a beautifully detailed and challenging game! Definitely a title for TurboGrafx-16 to be proud of. You'll find that the 5 Minute "Caravan" Game is limited in more ways than just time. I found that practicing a "Normal" game of Soldier Blade has helped sharpen my skills and made me a better player in the 5 Minute Game. Limited Weapons The 5 Minute "Caravan" Game has limited weapons. It appears to limit you to the use of the standard "Cluster" weapon and disables the "Super Shells", released by pressing Button 1, entirely. You'll have to rely on your wits to survive!
  17. Great time to be writing about Metroid! @HDN

  19. Here's a look at Soldier Blade gameplay for those of you unfamiliar with this game. It's amazing what the regular TurboGrafx-16 is capable of!
