  3. Just a plain simple tailor? 🤔 YES 🙌 Very true!
  4. absolutely right Rick! It was a laserdisc-based game, very unique for its time
  5. I love how they used the Biplane, it's very unique. And on the Lynx I can't help but think of Warbirds
  6. I'm hoping you're right! When the Forums were new, @Doctor Octagon had a long Blog entry drawing parallels between Fred Chesnais (CEO of Atari until not too long ago) and Gil Ameilo (CEO of Apple when it was 60 days from bankruptcy until Steve Jobs took over again). Fresh blood, a new vision and a lot of integrity would really help Atari's chances. So glad to hear the new Centipede game was able to impress you this much
  7. You did a great job figuring out the Scoreboard thing @Atari Creep! It's just a place for posting new high scores, like our own little Twin Galaxies. Photos or YouTube videos are welcome, plus that basic info. The High Score Squad Challenge may be over but the battle continues in the Scoreboard!
  8. This is our first in-depth review of a new Atari VCS game, great to see that it's Centipede! Have to say your review has made me more interested in the new console. Great to have a new Blog post from you @Sabertooth🔥 🔥 🔥

For this challenge we're remixing one of the most epic Atari classics imaginable - applying "Ultimate" settings to Missile Command on the Atari 2600 the same way we've applied "Ultimate" settings to Asteroids and Yars' Revenge before! We're getting out of our comfort zone and playing "Ultimate Missile Command" using Game 16, Difficulty A - settings that provide for the most advanced, challenging level of gameplay with increased speed, Fast Target Control, Smart Cruise Missiles, and begins the game on Wave 15. Games that start at a high Wave Number are fast in the beginning and progress even faster with each Wave. Do you have what it takes to survive this vicious onslaught and save your costal cities? Or will you live just long enough to see the end of the world. Missile Command became an Atari arcade smash hit, even taking a starring role as the last thing on screen in the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High. and also made a memorable appearance in Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Missile Command was released for the Atari 2600 in 1981 and for decades has been one of the most beloved video games of all time. Sometimes playing on default settings can get a little old, so we try to invent fresh approaches to playing these classic 2600 titles. ROM and PDF Instruction Manual are provided below. I hope you all have fun, and good luck to everybody participating! NOTE: We're in the home stretch, wrapping up our supreme lineup of games for High Score Squad in 2021! Expect a nice mix of classic Atari home console games in the rotation along with games from other classic systems! Here's a look at some upcoming events: November: A Sega Genesis game, plus a game for TurboGrafx-16 December: 2021 F-ZERO Championship, plus a game for Atari Jaguar! Plus many more great games in 2022! (Schedule subject to change) Missile Command.pdf Missile Command.BIN
  15. CONGRATULATIONS to @Sabertooth for winning our Gates of Zendocon Squad Challenge🔥🔥

  16. Congratulations Sabertooth! Congratulations to @Sabertooth on another incredible win! Not only has Sabertooth created a new YouTube channel of his own and a stellar social media presence to bring something refreshing and new to the classic gaming sphere, but he absolutely knocked it out of the park with his Gates of Zendocon score! What a tremendous score! Sabertooth secured the top spot on in our Gates of Zendocon Squad Challenge with his score of 6,145,500 points! I took 2nd Place in our Final Standings with a score of 5,102,100. @AtariSphinx was right on my tail and brought his A-game with a hard-fought score of 4,872,000 points! @TrekMD scored 3,003,800 to take 4th, @Gianna takes 5th Place with 2,753,200 points, and @RickR rounds things out with 1,482,800 points. * @Atari Creep posted a score of 41,932 which may have been accidentally played on Game A instead of Game B. At the 1:25 mark in his most recent video submitted for his high score he correctly states "So all right, I'm going to hit "B", because that is the option in which we are using" and presses a key on his keyboard to begin - although the game appears to play at a slow pace and score points consistent with being played on Game A. In order for scores to be admissible in High Score Squad they must be played on the correct difficulty settings, as easier settings almost always result in an unfair points advantage. Although the game may have been mistakenly played on the easier difficulty settings, I believe it's clear to everyone that @Atari Creep was playing in good faith, just trying to have a good time with the group and participate in the Squad Challenge. There was certainly nothing in the video which appeared to give him an unfair advantage, Gates of Zendocon scores significantly lower on Game A, and no other player's score has been impacted by this as @Atari Creep came in last place, far from having an impact on @RickR 's 6th Place score. Although I have placed an asterisk on @Atari Creep's score, we want to acknowledge his score in our Final Standings for being so enthusiastic in High Score Squad, live-streaming the event and for joining us on this most recent journey through the Gates of Zendocon. Maybe @Atari Creep can give it another go and challenge @Sabertooth's score in the Scoreboard! Congratulations to @Sabertooth on his epic win, and a huge THANK YOU to everyone whose been getting the word out about our community and inviting others to join us in High Score Squad! As always I'd like to encourage @Sabertooth to post his high score on the Scoreboard, and let's make sure this Challenge continues on! And a big "Thank You" goes out to @Gianna for helping me keep High Score Squad going! Congratulations to everybody here for being such a great group to spend time with, I hope you had a great time venturing into the beautiful pixelated chip tune world of Atari Lynx! COMING UP: Our next High Score Squad Challenge is for the Atari 2600! Be there!
  17. @Dougmeister you'll have to check back in and let us know the final results
  18. Welcome to the Forums @Dougmeister!! It's great to have you join us! Yes it is! It should be straight forward enough that somebody with basic soldering experience should be able to replace a switch on the Atari 2600. Best Electronics offers them here: https://www.best-electronics-ca.com/2600_Tech_Tips.htm#based Console5 offers them here, but are currently sold out: https://console5.com/store/atari-2600-slide-switch-power-difficulty-color-new-old-stock-c010373.html Here are some photos and instructions for repairing your Atari 2600 switches: https://vintagegamingandmore.com/atari-switch-repair/
  19. Regan Cheng once told me that when he designed the Atari 5200 they used a color mix for the plastic that was 80% Black 20% Brown if that's helpful to you. However I do not recommend spray painting video game systems for this purpose. I once restored an Atari Video System X (prototype Atari 5200) that had some moderate scuffing and scratches. I did this with a friend using increasingly fine wet sanding and a rubbing compound. It was a lot of work but the results were fantastic.
  20. Keeping it going! Love this game so much! My new High Score: 5,102,100
  21. Very nice video @GRay Defender thanks for posting and for remembering Nukey Shay
  22. Wow @MaximumRD that setup looks so clean and organized compared to the image on the bottom! It's really nice to click on this and randomly see the wooden Atari drink coaster make an appearance with you playing TurboGrafx-16! How cool.
  23. Everybody at the time seemed to love it. To me it was like "The Emperor Has No Clothes!" I just didn't think it was that fun; mainly because 1.) I had already been exploring 3D environments collecting items in Cybermorph for 3 years by this point, and 2.) the magic of Mario (even dating back to Donkey Kong) was always in being a 2D platformer. That's what it meant to be a Mario game. I'm openminded to new adventures, and enjoyed games like Paper Mario and Super Mario RPG, but Mario 64 just felt all over the place to me. I agree
