It's not even about "capitalizing on existing ip" with games based on Warner franchises, it's simply how they missed the potential of 8-bit gaming as a platform for characters and storytelling that we saw explode with Super Mario Bros, Zelda, Metroid, etc. Atari had all of the components and nobody put the pieces together.

MAD magazine was also under the WB umbrella.  Another wasted opportunity.

We did have one excellent Superman game for 2600, and then.....nothing.

They had the wrong manager in charge.  When looking at Nintendo (and also Sega to a degree), leadership took a lot of wild chances on game designers.  Pairing an artist with an engineer for example.  I'm not sure Atari would have ever seen the value in this.  They seemed stuck on doing things the same way instead of innovating with game design.

There were also too many silos at Atari.  Arcade vs home vs computer divisions.  I doubt anyone ever considered putting their properties at a higher level together for collaboration.

I smell a business opportunity.  How hard would it be to create one with LED lights and a simple power connector?  We could call it a "Clux Fapacitor" to avoid litigation issues.  🙂

You know it's funny, people who know me wouldnt really think of me as a "Country Fan" and I guess I didn't really think of Kenny Rogers as a "Country Star" although I guess you could say he was. Maybe he was one of the first "crossovers"? I'll miss him, I'm sad he's gone.

YES!  And also to the front-line delivery and postal workers.  It seems like they'll be getting quite a workout too.

To quote my favorite teacher, "Jaguar! Jaguar! Jaguar!"
Tempest 2000 would be an obvious choice. Other good options for an HSC would be Zero 5, Missile Command 3D, Defender 2000 and Raiden.
I'd also love to see a Saturn challenge.

Thanks guys! Hopefully with increased membership in the forums we will have much better participation in Squad Challenges for multiple systems. 2600, NES, SNES and Genesis are easy to get a lot of people in.

I was shocked at how few people joined in on the 5200 challenges.  Then again that system has not aged well at all.  The machine itself works fine for the most part but those controllers simply can't handle aging.  It's a real shame, too, because it is a great console.  Then again it was what I grew up with so I'm sort of partial to it.
Would love to see more 2600 and 7800 challenges.  Lynx maybe.  But I've only got a few games (Blue Lightning, Batman, California Games, and Warbirds).

These days, I have all the Lynx games as I purchased one of the multi-carts.  The challenges give me the little push I need to try a particular game.

I noticed that too.  Another thought....maybe do a poll a month prior with choices of various games for various systems.  Maybe if people vote, they'll actually play.

PS - my favorites are the Lynx challenges, as it usually involves a game I've never tried before.

I think so too.  Maybe that's a way to build the site back up (focus on 2600 challenges).  Given that, maybe we wait to do 2600 until the site has been cleared of coronavirus.

Justin reacted to RickR in Oh guys, I'm feeling so overwhelmed at work lately. Please forgive me for venting, bu
My main issue is that I find myself with zero support from above.  My supervisors are all very busy on other important things (I guess they are overwhelmed too), and I feel too much pressure to make decisions that feel way above my pay grade.  At the same time, I work in an area of business that is shrinking.
