I bought a Sega Genesis (I think Model 2) from a video game shop. Very good condition, and comes with Sonic 2. Playing it on the real hardware for the first time, and people really are right, the actual Sega Genesis soundchip has a unique sound to it that hasn't really been perfectly replicated. (Also, while it doesn't take away from the quality of the game, wow, Sonic really lags when you're in water)
Edit: Oh yeah, and those 3D special stages still look very pixelated even on a CRT played with '90s style fuzziness. I kind of see what people mean by the special stages never looked great.

That's awesome @atarifan95!! Sega Genesis is one of the all-time greats, and there's no doubt it has a distinct sound. I'm a big fan of playing on real hardware for the full experience. Sonic 2 was also one of my first Genesis game, and Game Gear game as well.
