I did grow up with gaming without actually growing up.  Where's the fun in that?  However, I grew up with the 5200, not the 2600.  I am just now "growing up" with the 2600.  Well...more like growing old.  Here's my top 10 so far as my collection keeps growing.

E.T. Enduro Jr. Pac-Man Space Invaders Mountain King Solaris Radar Lock Robot Tank Pac-Man (yes...it made it to my top 10 from the fun I have had with the Squad Challenge this month) Midnight Magic I agree...it's hard to pick just 10...but these are the ones I go to the most for my 2600 fix.  And, yes, I believe E.T. is a great adventure game and unique for its time.  Really the only pre-1990's game that faithfully harnessed the heart of the movie it was based on.

The Sears VCS never reached Europe's shores, so it is really interesting for me, how popular it still is in the States. Life is so colourful!

Atari was my first love, it will be my last.
Atari of the future, Atari of the past.

Suddenly John Miles comes to my mind. Could be a nice answer to that important question.

So just a little background regarding this video.
My kids and I watched every Nintendo direct on our WiiU, it became an event in our house and we were all very excited each time they came on.
I kept the kids on Nintendo systems for al long as I could because I wanted them to be kids, I wanted them to be lost in innocence and enjoy the kid and family friendly nature on Nintendo. Iwata, Reggie and Miamoto became stars to the kids and they realized that the long linage of games and characters they love these guys had a hand in all of it.
When Iwata died we all cried over here, it was very sad to see his passing.
The man that brought so much to our family fun time passed and we all sat there and cried.  Because of these Nintendo directs my daughter is studying Japanese to become a translator for Nintendo, thats what she want to do.

This is such a touching tribute to his work

    @ jaguar prices

In Germany the prices are indecent, too. For an new AvP you should have to pay € 350. A new Console (NTSC) costs € 400 and a PAL-console € 350. Only two years ago the prices were not more than € 200. But used modules are also expensive. Brutal sports deluxe without box for € 20. That is ruthless in many ways.

    Excellent as always!
For a console game, Gravitar is extremely difficult.

Time Pilot is well made. It offers all five stages of the arcade version. The Coleco version misses the last stage with the UFOs and the controls are not very accurate. So i think the Atarians have the better version.

I guess, this was made for salesmen presentations. To use a toploader for that just makes sense. The CD on the photograph is certainly made for tourists, who wants to visit Eindhoven, a city in the Netherlands.  Maybe this briefcase was an equipment of a software salesman, who had presented his software at customer's shops or offices. E.g. there was a CDi-program for driving schools, which was available until 2009.

It's really a shame, that a finished game is withheld to the audience. Hopefully it will be published like Tempest.

I think we always had a feeling that we were waiting for the other shoe to drop with the Coleco Chameleon, but it's been a year. Everybody seemed to give "Coleco" the benefit of the doubt. I don't think a year ago anybody would've expected this.

Thank you. I have tremendous respect for the homebrew community. I think we're going to do a "homebrew appreciation week" to celebrate these guys and their games. It's important to look past the handful of disappointments and appreciate the breadth of incredible games that the homebrew community has given us over the past 15 years. When I first started collecting classic games in 1993 I thought we were at the end of the line, that no new games would be coming out for these systems. Turns out we've seen some of the best games for these systems come out in just the past few years.

Sadly that always seems to be the case! It would have been a smarter move for Atari to work with Jeff Minter on making TxK an officially licensed product.

Today's Colecovision is simply an a-hole who bought some Coleco ip, ie he is just in it for the money and cares nothing for the community or fan loyalty. Chris has no interest in forging relationships with Coleco fans, he claims he does but so far his actions reveal otherwise.

Picked up a pair of CX78s while I was in Poland and had them shipped home -- they arrived today!  (I think they can still be considered 2600 joysticks since they were packed with Atari 2600 Jr systems in Europe.)

So far after a little bit of testing with a few different games, I think they're... alright.  They're certainly not as precise as a stock CX40 stick, but they seem fairly comfortable to use.  Next step is to try them with the console they were designed for!
