I wish somebody would not only fix the gameplay but also fix the akuma sprite.  He looked so cool in the apple ii version and they could've beefed him up for the 7800.  Oh well...

This game is so poorly programmed for the 7800.  It really could have been better.  I still say someone needs to hack it to fix the controls.

And Commando is an excellent game!  My condolences with Karateka!  😆

I picked up a batch of Famicom cartridges from a local gamer/reseller. I find the Famicom cartridge colors and labels fascinating, and I generally buy them for that reason. I got this batch because of Choplifter, Galaxian, Popeye, Lode Runner, and Tetris. The rest looked interesting enough.

I also had another local gamer service my Genesis and SNES. I haven't put much time with them, but what little time I did have really impressed me, especially the Genesis. I heard that the Model 2 benefits from the triple bypass audio upgrade, so I got that in addition to have it recapped. A couple of years ago, I bought the cheapest SNES that was offered by a local reseller. It was a little gross looking--a bit dingy and yellowed. At the time, I didn't care because I was only intending to play one game on it (NBA Jam TE). Now that I'm getting more into it, I decided to give it a makeover with a new clear shell and recapped. The old case was given the retrobrite treatment and came out looking pretty nice.

Those look to be in excellent condition!  My copy of Riddle of the Sphinx is autographed by Bob Smith.  I had him sign it at PRGE a couple of years ago.  🙂

Another bites the dust.  This time we serve two tours of duty in Commando!  While I've always personally preferred Ikari Warriors but this game is definitely an awesome inclusion in the 7800 library!

So it'll be a few days before I put out anything else but I think it's time I master karate and become...
    A Karateka!

Normally not a fan of a cappella performances that reproduce the instruments too, but day-yum, this is GREAT!

⑆   On August 15th we celebrate MUTINY INDEPENDENCE DAY with the launch of MUTINY COMMUNITY! You'll see it in the purple navigation menu where chat used to be. Mutiny is an homage to the communities of the early Web, and at a glance gives us a top-down view of our community, emphasizing our grassroots that bring us closer as we once were in the chatroom. Mutiny highlights trades and swaps, Blog discussions, news, chat, High Score Squad, Clubs and so much more. Mutiny includes a classic Yahoo! Search Bar to make surfing the net a breeze, and Swapmeet aggregates recent topics from For Sale, Wanted, eBay and Trading Post, so you can see at a glance what's up for grabs. Special attention is given to the Clubs and Squad Challenges, and encourages you to build your own I/O Blog. New YouTube and Podcast posts are displayed in the sidebar. Mutiny evokes the friendly, quirky vibe of the early web, and replaces our chatroom with a living webpage that is in a constant state evolving and cuts deep into to the heart of our community - and I hope you consider making it part of your daily routine as your new homepage for every time you log onto the Web. Let's go!   ⑆
