Was AVP running in a different graphics mode or with an added chip? To me AVP looks better than most stuff on 16-bit consoles short of FX chip games. Seems like it would be another story where the game required an extra chip that Jack Tramiel wouldn't have wanted to pay for.

Also, Carl Williams did post honestly about Coleco Chameleon and his article on AVP was ok but could have done w/ out the immature pot-shots at Atari. Seems like the past 10 years (since social media?) it's been non stop in articles covering Atari. Some people are fascinated by failure I guess.

I thought it would be cool if we could post photos and share stories of our first car

My first car was AMC Eagle 4 x 4 station wagon. I think it was a 1986 model. AMC owned Jeep then and put a Jeep powertrain in an older AMC Sportabout wagon design. It had lots of power, room for all your gear, drove like a car and it could plow through mud and snow like a Jeep. My friends and I would take this on camping trips and tailgates and had lots of good times at a drive in movie theater that was still around back then. I can't find a picture of it right this sec but here's what it looked like in the brochure:

Maybe this is a little gross to say but I do this all the time. I bet a lot of people do. Am I the only one? I think it's some kind of weird leftover strand of Neanderthal in our DNA that makes us curious about our own scent. And it's weird how you can cup it in your hand and keep it there while you scoop it up to your face, like the air doesn't really escape your hand. Sorry if that's gross but we're all guilty of it at some point. Just a random thought.

People like to hate on that system, compare it to a toilet, whatever. If you played Myst on the Jaguar when it was first released you knew it was the best version of Myst you could get your grubby hands on.

The Jag Bar is awesome btbfilms76, keep it coming!

It's boring and not a single screen from a game on the cover or a picture of the console. Who came up with that? Let's hope the book is 100x better than the cover. You know what they say about judging a book by its cover.

Hey, I thought you all would enjoy the genre known as Vaporwave. It's basically a genre dedicated to making you feel like you are listening to it on a cassette, either in the 80s or 90s or in the distant future. It uses heavy sampling of 80s funk, pop music, and elevator music slowed down and edited. It's generally mixed with 80s and 90s-esque visuals. Some use heavier sampling than others, but it all stays pretty much the same that it uses sampling (except for a few cases). It's essentially the "underground punk" equivalent of electronic music. Thought it's much more peaceful.

It has multiple sub-genres like Future Funk and Mallsoft. I think it's something you guys would really enjoy listening too.

    http://members.tcq.n...1/secretum.html

"Secretum Labyrinth : The Legend" Is now available on cartridge. The Game requires an Atari XL/XE computer with 64K RAM, a joystick and some keyboard usage to select and use items in your inventory. This is a Role Playing Adventure Game that fills in a gap for the Atari 8-bit in that there had been many Arcade Action Role Playing Adventure type games. We put a lot of hard work into this game, months of extensive beta testing.

The cartridge is available for $39.95, and comes with an instruction manual.

"Secretum Labyrinth The Legend" (cartridge) and "Secretum Labyrinth Kings Gold" makes use of Super IRG, and Multicolor mode on player/missile graphics that provides many colors on screen at once. Some of the rooms vary the color palettes slightly. I hope to keep things positive on this thread. This is my first attempt to make extensive use of this mode that alternates between two fonts, checkerboard and bar dithering techniques.

There are differences between "Kings Gold" and "The Legend" both with the game and with the programming. In "Kings Gold," you can only advance to skill level 7, and cannot go beyond 99 hitpoints. Has a limit of 95 rooms. There is also a different weapon. You only need to collect 6 treasures to solve, 3 gold coins, and 3 gold stars.  This is designed to fit inside the 64K RAM on a stock Atari without any extended memory.

"The Legend" you can advance as far as level 21 and have up to 254 hitpoints. Has 256 rooms map, and weapons are available. You need to collect 16 treasures, each with a different image. You need to do certain tasks to get beyond some points in the game.

A sequel game is in the planning stage right now and I am asking what would people like to see. More rooms, monsters, weapons, and perform different tasks to get beyond a certain point in the game.  Going with many more rooms makes it harder to debug, so I am setting up a more idiot proof system for the room set up.

Might add an armor system, upgrading armor. Collecting money and going to places to buy things. More items that you need to get beyond points inside the game.  It will be much more involved game. I am working on ways to save your progress. Anybody interested in seeing it complete.

I'm glad CBS finally resolved their legal dispute with the guys making Axanar. Axanar is a Star Trek fan film that was crowdfunded and caught the attention of studio heads at CBS which holds the TV rights to Star Trek and it resulted in a law suit. One of the stars is Richard Hatch who sadly passed away this week. Here's the preview film they made for the kickstarter. It looks incredible for a fan film. Definitely looks better than Phantom Menace!
