  1. FYI, added another Twitter handle, WHY? NO IDEA, something to be aware of, maybe the other two are troll accounts? 🤔🤷‍♂️😆Obviously ROB DAVIAU @MaximumRD is the main one I interact with but if any of you haven't already hit me up on there on any of them 😏

What does having multiple twitter handles do?

    2. MaximumRD

      MaximumRD

Nothing at all really. 😎Some might have a serious account, I guess my Rob / MaximumRd would be that, then maybe a 2nd account to promote other interests? A third account, maybe for business? again no idea, I just figured what the hell. Also, some may use multiple accounts to see which one seems to attract attention they are looking for, like depending on the look or hobbies attached you might notice a particular one "take off" so you can stick with that one and focus on it. For me personally I typically like a second account for any particular social media platform in case something happens to the main account. For example FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON I keep getting booted off INSTAGRAM, always says my account has been blocked due to suspicious activity etc, this is of course nonsense but I've been locked out of like 6 accounts within 5 months. I always use super strong passwords, create a basic account and barely use it 🤷‍♂️the issue makes no sense as I've had no issues with my Facebook or other social media accounts, Facebook owns Instagram yet Facebook has never given me an issue. I still have a spare Facebook account just in case my main ever gets locked.

I talk to my systems I play games on and when I put them away I tell them good night.  I've never heard one say anything, yet, but when one does I'll let you know. At times it's like putting children to bed.

  8. MERRY CHRISTMAS - Sure I have posted before but it just came up in Facebook memories even though it's obviously much older 😆so seemed fitting to share again today since it is one of the few good childhood memories, believe me I was VERY happy just getting these at the time - That year when I got Coleco Galaxian and Pac Man mini arcades. 😆😎🕹️Also this image is so of it's time with the huge cabinet TV all the brown and gaudy decorations. Still fond memories for me though.

Happy Holidays and hopes you all have a wonderful Christmas. 🎅Might be the WINE talking (it definitely IS 😆) but....I LOVE YOU ALL. This goes not only for members here but all, YES ALL staff that keeps this a wonderful site for me to visit daily. Just wanted to say it in case I forget or an too busy over the next few days even though I have no life and will likely still be here everyday up to Christmas. 🤷‍♂️

  14. Well, going through my OG XBOX collection I was glad to see this, most I have are demo discs or copies since both my XBOX consoles are modded but I did see this years ago at a Value Village thrift shop, for just 9.99 Canadian even I could not resist this GTA DOUBLE PACK w/GTA III & VICE CITY in very good condition including manuals. 😎 Pretty sure I got a San Andreas copy in one of my binders as well. 😏

      @RickR
Fair, I had PS2 back in the day and so have much more history with it. As well having the entire PS1/PS2 library playable including literally tons of great titles that never made it to Xbox. I love that history and would not change a thing, would have LOVED to have seen many of my favorite PS2 games that never made it over on the OG XBOX for sure. THAT SAID, since I didn't have it back in the day I am hoping to test the Xbox and all the games I pulled out of storage recently. I have two original consoles, they are modded to boot backups and though I do not have many original games I have a number of demo discs as well as a binder of copies so I may hook it up to my trusty old 14 inch CRT and dig in! 😉

    3. RickR

      RickR

Oh yeah, that sounds like fun.  And I hope you share what you find here.

My own personal experience has been that the same games on XBOX are improved.  They look better to me.  Examples:  the GTA series you have, and any of the Need For Speed series.  PS2 can look blocky on those games, but the XBOX is smooth and always looks good.

Still, I have a PS2 out and play it pretty often.  XBOX is put away in storage.  Why?  I think it's because the XBOX feels more fragile.  The hard drive might go bad or something.  And it's bigger and noisier.  My PS2 is the slim model, and I think that's the absolute pinnacle of "small yet functional" design for video games.

    4. MaximumRD

      MaximumRD

Heh I got the original PS2 style and also a slim and I agree, I am still impressed with just how tiny that thing is, fortunately I got the slim when I was doing better financially as I bought it of I guy who did really good work installing modchips. Now, I have not tried it in a while but that little slim PS2 seemed to boot just about any PS1 or PS2 backup I would throw at it, hopefully that is still the case. I really love the look of the PS2 slim silver color model but mine is just that basic black. My other PS2 is the first system I ever "modded" myself, early days of PS2 tricks so I replaced the systems shell with one that had a "fliptop LID", that along with a set of SWAP MAGIC discs allowed me to boot with an original game, stop the disc spinning after the bootloader, life the lid and switch it with a burned game on DVD-r media, close the lid and continue booting the copy 😆 man I thought it just didn't get any better, well until modchips hit but I had no skill to install those myself. Definitely the Xbox is bigger and noisier for sure, I think both are still working fine, they definitely had a graphical boost but to be fair they were literally locked down PC's that I am sure Microsoft were knowing full well they could put slightly better GPU power in it to out do the PS2.

Yeah, I figured it must still be crunching, because I don't have my blog award yet.

    3. Justin

      Justin

@- Ω - Part of the "crunch" appears to be awarding Atari I/O Members their Badges for existing achievements - once a new achievement has been reached for that action. So for example, it appears you will receive your "First Blog Entry" Badge (which you would've earned in the Spring, had our achievements system existed back then) upon completion of your next Blog entry.

Another example is users who are no longer active in our forums have not been awarded their Badges yet. It appears that the "crunching" begins for each member upon logging into the forums and engaging in these activities.

Achievements are still being "crunched" and will continue to reward past actions for loyal Members who have been active in our site for years. Most all Badges for new achievements will be awarded in real time. Also, more Badges are still baking in our Imagineering oven and will be ready soon!

Yes Sir, specifically "Chocolate Spiced Rye Whisky" - Here is the blurb on it

Often, Canadian bootleggers would blend, age and transport Whisky in used cocoa barrels — after all Canada is famous for having invented the world’s first wrapped chocolate bar! The leftover cocoa husks would infuse the smooth rye with rich, warm chocolate flavours, creating something unique and delicious.

And a nice couple drinks that can be made with it (though I tend to drink straight up)

      MaximumRD

@Atari 5200 Guy. Just seeing this, well you hear different things from different people. It's for ME but then I am always on the most recent updates and Widows version, my experience on several machines has been great personally, there are the minor teething problems of any new version of Windows so if you are good on 10 there is nothing earth shattering or life changing you would notice. For me, I know it's the future of Windows so typically I jump right in, get used to it, customize and tame the OS the way I like to work etc.

    4. Atari 5200 Guy

      Atari 5200 Guy

Yes.  I'm happy with 10 and I've not had any issues from the OS.  For me, it's been the best Windows version I've ever used.

Maybe someday I'll make the switch to 11...but not now.

  24. Since it’s Sunday and I am doing laundry I thus decree that today shall be known henceforth as laundry/8 bit Nintendo day! 😝😎🧐

      Justin

Hi @MaximumRD, it's funny you say that!! Sunday is typically laundry / 8-bit Nintendo day for me as well. Laundry can be too quiet for me, almost like meditation or swimming under water. I decided doing laundry would be a nice time to listen to some good podcasts. I clearly remember one Sunday in 2009 you recommended that I check out the Retroist Podcast, that I would enjoy it. This was around the time that I had the YouTube videos, usually with an 8-Bit Nintendo game over my shoulder on the TV set behind me. I started listening to The Retroist regularly, and Sunday turned into a "treat" I would look forward to. After a while, that became a big inspiration for me to create Atari I/O and the Forums.
