  1. Played a couple of rounds of pool with my wife in the clubhouse and didn't do too well but to be fair it's been about 15 years 🤷🏻‍♂️I managed a couple of nice shots though. Checked my messages to see she snuck a couple of pics of me, I was concentrating too hard to notice 😝

      "Kelowna Slim" at his best.

Looks like a lot of fun.  I haven't played pool in ages.

A friend reminded me on Facebook in a comment on these pictures, I used to be quite the Bumper Pool player. Good times.

  2. Playing MAME on desktop and thinking "WHY THE HELL DON'T I DO THIS MORE OFTEN?" 😀😎

      RickR

Exactly.  It's my thought every time I think about doing another XBOX/PS2/Wii mod or creating a new Raspberry Pi build.  The desktop PC version is the easiest way to get your emulation fix.

I go back to it every so often, it is a funny reminder that even though I was pretty much a videogame console player that there are some major differences when compared to original arcade versions. I mean pretty much from NES onward (well even before that Colecovision) it felt like having the "arcade" at home but then you load up MAME and suddenly it's like a slap in the face in comparison, especially with a lot of NES ports, or EVEN Sega Genesis you realize damn the arcade game had even bigger sprites and more frenzied action. I mean sure the Arcade game dynamic sometimes would not work as well and was changed to suit a home console but in some cases it was definitely changes due to limitations. I was playing some of the Golden Axe sequels and was surprised how different it felt, sometimes it is just a different color palette but it is definitely nice to go back and experience versions closer to the Arcade.
  3. RIP - ANTHONY JAMES - He was awesome as a spooky chauffeur in Burnt Offerings (1976) ! Always a great as a menacing or sleazy character in movies and TV shows! One of those actors that just helped everyone else shine.

I was so saddened by this news. In my opinion, the Cars' self-titled is one of few perfect debut albums. It's been a lifelong favorite.  Thanks for the music, Ric!

  5. Should I be honored or dismayed at my sad life  🤔😆🤷‍♂️ Either way, see? I may not always comment or participate BUT I AM HERE OFTEN. 😉

Yeah, I figured it must still be crunching, because I don't have my blog award yet.

    3. Justin

      Justin

@- Ω - Part of the "crunch" appears to be awarding Atari I/O Members their Badges for existing achievements - once a new achievement has been reached for that action. So for example, it appears you will receive your "First Blog Entry" Badge (which you would've earned in the Spring, had our achievements system existed back then) upon completion of your next Blog entry.

Another example is users who are no longer active in our forums have not been awarded their Badges yet. It appears that the "crunching" begins for each member upon logging into the forums and engaging in these activities.

Achievements are still being "crunched" and will continue to reward past actions for loyal Members who have been active in our site for years. Most all Badges for new achievements will be awarded in real time. Also, more Badges are still baking in our Imagineering oven and will be ready soon!

  6. So, going through some storage boxes I find a nice blue Konami Justifier pistol clearly for the SNES, I was pretty excited but after some research it seems the ONLY compatible game if LETHAL ENFORCERS? REALLY? Seems like such a missed opportunity! 😮🙁

    1. RickR

      RickR

Maybe it's just me, but I don't recall a lot of accessory controllers on the SNES.  Super Scope is the only one I can think of.  I wonder if your pistol works with the super scope games too.

    2. Justin

      Justin

I agree! Always thought they could've done more with the Konami Justifier, and even more so with the Super Scope Six!

  7. Uhm seriously Fake / SPAM / Phishing / Malicious Norton LAST ALERT MESSAGE, just how many times in a day for the last two weeks do you need to try to fool me? 😂🙄

Pretty sure it is an Ikea chair Rick! We bought it many years ago when we still lived in Toronto.

      Thanks Justin, very comfy!

@MaximumRD Maybe we need new topic in the "retro" forum where we can show off all of our retro-themed clothes like what you're wearing here. Star Wars shirts, flannel pants, etc ☺️

      RickR

      That's a good idea.

Funny story:  One time I was getting a haircut, and the 20-something stylist said "I love that shirt.  Where did you get it, a vintage shop?"
      Me:  My closet.

Never make fun of my cabana-wear.  Never.  🙂

Too young.  Simply too young.  I think mentally we all expect to live a long life but hearing things like this make you realize you really need to live everyday to the best quality you can.  My heart, prayers, and sympathy go out to Perry's family and friends.

@MaximumRD What is this supposed to be? I get a DNS error and can't get the site to come up.

    2. MaximumRD

      MaximumRD

Poop. I just checked, no DNS error but broken from what it was when I initially posted it. Shame. For the past few months it was pretty much a multi-emulator in your browser, you know like those HDDs you can buy (or set up your own) multi-arcade and consoles emulation setup with everything from art to backgrounds to screenshots and animated previews, just select the platform, select from a large library of games and start playing. I stumbled on it a while back and even waited a couple months just to be sure it was legit and sticking around. Shame, hope it comes back at some point. It was much like this screenshot but in your browser, pre-configured, even my plugged-in gamepad just worked. Ah well, best intentions....

Very much like this but in browser, free, no weird pop ups even with adblocker off and I had checked for malicious verus etc. Seemed clean, sure it seemed to good to be true as well. I had even found someone posted a video about it. No idea how long it was previously up for.

Here is video from 2 months ago, hopefully just down for maintenance....

I get THIS currently, let's hope it comes back eventually......

I been checking daily with no good results until now. Curiously at this moment, it redirects to

      https://www.retrogames.onl/

Though nowhere near as slick or featured as when I posted the original link at least there is something to work with so I am posting here immediately as obviously there are no guarantees on how long it will remain up. 🤷‍♂️At the redirected URL (or simply go direct to the new one) choose the platform, pick a game from the alphabetized listing and lastly click PLAY NOW.

See 3 screens below showing it working as I mentioned.

  16. Another video so soon after posting one yesterday? Must be a record lol. Found a couple of minor items in the Electronics Bin. Walking in the snow! Another walk and ramble, more snow the next day after my walking around in a T-shirt just yesterday. I didn't expect to find anything since I checked recently but a couple of small items caught my eye, join me on a snowy walk around the Condo! Filmed for fun on an old ANDROID 7 phone - Voga V!

  17. Arrived with my wife yesterday in Nashville! 😀 Got to tag along on my wife's business trip so staying at a convention centre/resort for the week! 😜🍺😎

No problems there Rick, 😉 Melissa has always been THE PLANNER, a seasoned traveller who had  already covered half the globe by the time we met! So it's more like, Rob, here is our itinerary and what we will be doing 😜😂  So last night we went to downtown to BB King's blues club and today I run around the resort while she's attending conferences and we meet up later and head downtown again tonight, fun city. 🍺

  18. As a kid I took a bottle of Flintstones Chew-able vitamins from home and ate 1/2 a bottles worth by the time I walked to school.....and promptly threw up....true story.....😜

  19. As we head into the Christmas week, things might become a little quieter around here than usual so I'll just say now to every member and all those behind the scenes, hope you all have A Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
