Denny O’Neil, ‘Batman’ writer and comic book legend, dead at 81
RIP - 😢 Longtime comic book writer and editor Denny O’Neil died Thursday at home of natural causes, Games Radar reports. He was 81.
Best known for his work writing DC Comics’ “Batman” and editing Batman titles from 1986 to 2000, O’Neil also worked at Marvel Comics on such series as “Spider-Man” and “Iron Man.” Over the course of his more-than-four-decades-long career in the industry, he was involved in the naming of the character Optimus Prime and in leading Batman back to a darker narrative. He also wrote episodes for TV shows “Batman: The Animated Series” and “G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero,” among others.

RIP - 😢cool Canadian Denise Denise Cronenberg. We’ve learned the sad news this week that Denise Cronenberg, the sister of David Cronenberg, passed away at the age of 81 last month at Joseph Brant Hospital in Ontario, Canada.
Award-winning artist Denise Cronenberg was the costume designer on several of her little brother’s films beginning with The Fly in 1986. Denise brought her style to most of David’s movies in the years that followed, including Dead Ringers, Naked Lunch, M. Butterfly, Crash, eXistenZ, Spider, A History of Violence, Eastern Promises, Cosmopolis and Maps to the Stars.
Even prior to The Fly, Denise Cronenberg was credited as “wardrobe trainee” on Videodrome and “wardrobe mistress” on The Dead Zone, both films directed by David Cronenberg.

Sad to hear so young, unfortunate cause as well 😞 "The worlds of elite gymnastics and cult film have lost one of their greatest stars. International Gymnast Media reports that Kurt Thomas, the world-champion gymnast turned hero of the beloved 1985 movie Gymkata, died on Friday after he suffered a “tear of the basilar artery in the brain stem” and a severe stroke in late May. RIP - James Lipton, who plumbed the dramatic arts through perceptive, mostly admiring interviews with celebrity actors as host of the Bravo television series “Inside the Actors Studio,” died on Monday at his home in Manhattan. He was 93.
The cause was bladder cancer, his wife, Kedakai Mercedes Lipton, said.
