  1. Amazingly, I never had an original GAMEBOY back in the day. Honestly, one time I came REALLY close, like I went into this small shop near me and even asked to look at one, I knew the popularity of them and of course I had loved my NES. Maybe I was still too impressionable back then but the sales clerk, a young fella but older then me was so Anti-GAMEBOY lol, was like naw man, don't waste your money, it's for little kid this system. Not that I was considering or could afford any alternative at the time but I never reconsidered. Who knows, maybe it was a mistake. No doubt I'd of had plenty of fun with one. Of course years later, getting into retro gaming, revisiting my childhood I see it differently. Never DID get an OG Gameboy, my first was actually a Gameboy Advance SP and over the years from collecting I did happen to obtain THIS little beauty, a GAMEBOY POCKET given to me actually, only have a couple of carts for it though.....
  2. Found THIS on a wallpaper site with no context or description. Feel like it belongs here, feel I SHOULD know the origin but cannot for the life of me figure it out. 🤔🤷‍♂️ UPDATE: Well that didn't take long, within 15 minutes of posting the image on Facebook with the same question someone replied with the answer! Apparently, it's Artwork for an upcoming VR game with a nostalgic VIBE. 🤷‍♂️Figured I'd update here and save anyone the running around in case they were curious as well 😝 Description: Pixel Ripped 1978 released a new launch trailer before arriving on Quest, Steam and PSVR 2. Developed by ARVORE, Pixel Ripped 1978 follows a similar pattern to the series' previous games - 1989, 1995 and the On The Road spin-off. Published by Atari, this retro-themed adventure sees you playing as Dot, a video game designer working at Atari's headquarters in Sunnyvale. Travelling between different classic games to stop the Cyblin Lord, we got a closer look during the UploadVR Summer Showcase 2023. https://www.uploadvr.com/pixel-ripped-1978-launch-trailer/ It IS an ATARI game for VR platforms where you are an Atari Employee
  3. Oh sure, agreed, well the dip switch method is clearly the easy "cheap-out" option which sadly always seems to be the way with modern interpretations of our classic consoles. I merely explained all that for those who might not understand why they used dip switches for other reader's benefit and also why for those who might be wondering if their Harmony cart or other flash cart options would be compatible. We just don't seem to get the creativity or quality products or love our Atari products used to, instead, modern holders of the Atari brand seem to always settle on "just good enough". It's for this reason after getting a Flashback 2 I never bothered with ANY of the Flashback devices once AtGames took over. Also, at least a couple of Atari 2600 dedicated handhelds with an "official" Atari branding that some people raved about I had zero interest in looking at their tiny low-quality displays that used emulation anyway, sure maybe they were cheap enough for casuals just looking to relive some nostalgia, I was much happier emulating 2600 on a variety of handhelds and mobile devices I already owned that were far superior hardware devices, I could care less they were not officially branded as "ATARI". Now, the current official holders of the brand are someone else sure, the 2600+ seems to be a nice step in the right direction as well as new paddles with another multi-car,t but I also am very cautiously optimistic and if I am honest, the fact they went the route of dip switches and software emulation does not surprise me because people will still eat it up. In the end, once they are all released, in people's hands, I am more interested to see what the community manages to make them capable of, just like the Retron 77 with the community updating Stella, allowing roms to run from SD etc. While it would be NICE if these ATARI companies released everything we want and wish for in their hardware it's more likely community and homebrew devs will once again make the most of it. Which is better than nothing I guess.
  4. I believe the DIP SWITCHES were necessary because the upcoming 2600+ plays carts by dumping the ROM into an emulator, for the same reason various 3rd party Snes / Genesis / Nes clones that do not emulate hardware but simply dump the ROM to an emulator cannot work with Everdrives or various Flashcards, it cannot understand anything except the code of a single specific game to DUMP into the emulator, so Everdives and the like with it's menu system are just too complicated for the ROM DUMPER to interpret. By using DIP SWITCH you effectively turn the cart into that specific game in that moment so the 2600+ will dump it like any regular cart into the emulation software and run. My Retroit RetroTrio console which is a clone NES/Snes/Genesis emulates hardware so all 3 of my Everdrives work with it just fine whereas other clones such as some made by AtGames or Hyperkin also fail since they also employ the dump ROM to software emultor system. TO BE CLEAR this info comes from a thread on AA in a dedicated 2600+ Q&A thread and not too surprisingly one of the questions early on was if people would be able to use their HARMONY carts with it.
  5. You've contributed twice now with FAKE ADS, something I mentioned in the original post of this thread is not wanted, feel free to start a thread where you and others can post these. I let the first one slide but please no more.
  6. Hey thanks for the update, great seeing you back here!
  7. Here is the follow up review by GenX GrownUp OK even I think this is pretty cool to see, as someone burned out on the overly focused 2600 which, make no mistake I LOVE, great to see some other classic Atari platforms represented, hopefully, this is the start of seeing more products focused on more Atari platforms. NGL this is way better than my skeptical ass expected. Note at around the 30-minute mark stay tuned, he runs a bunch of games NOT included using ROMS off the SD card slot 😉
  8. Gotta admit, not a game I would have expected to be ported 😝amazing work all the same.
  9. Current wallpaper on ASUS laptop. Just really liked the look especially the more I look around at the details.

  13. Those are all great and exactly what I was hoping for! I used to dream about getting all these things as impossible as it was back then! 😍
  14. Simply not possible as we have dealt with many such people over time and will continue to enforce the rules of conduct here. A lot goes on here behind the scenes believe me. Anyone exhibiting any type of "gatekeeper" behaviour here is quick to realize it is not tolerated and this is not the community to try it. END OF. We welcome all equally but are very strict about extinguishing any cross-forum drama if someone has a bad history elsewhere that is known, we are wary of such people and do monitor them perhaps a little closer 😉 but in the end, all will be judged by their own merits, all are expected to conduct themselves according to HOUSE RULES (see link below) so, anyone who hasn't yet would do well to familiarize themselves with them, I do not think it's particularly difficult to be a productive contributing and positive member here, by the same token we will not become the "Island of Misfit toys" of forums either.
  15. Yes, it's obvious, let's just leave it at that. We don't discuss "WOKE" here.
