Yep, roll with the punches it is when it comes to rain during a visit to these parks.  I went for the Food and Wine Festival in EPCOT and it started to rain and it just didn't stop.  I put on my poncho and walked around to see what I could.  Since the rain was not relenting, I decided to see if I could get into the Space Restaurant.  Sure enough, there was a short line and I was able to get in in 30 minutes.  Had a nice time in "space" and when I left, the rain had stopped.  By then, most people had left the park due to the rain, so there were no lines on the rides and I was able to still enjoy the rest of the festival.  🙂

Awww man, sorry Rick. I am glad you still had fun, I mean that's the way to be, right? Accept the circumstance and don't let it stop you! Don't let it rain on your parade....er....well you get what I'm saying 😁

I got back into the 5200 out of nostalgia, but if it were not for the UAV, Multicart and the Retro Gameboyz joystick I probably wouldn't have done much with it.  Yeah, the stock controllers blow!  I did get my original joystick rebuilt, but I cannot use it due to arthritis, tendonitis and trigger thumb issues.  Getting old really, really sucks.

I think METROID was about the only NES game I completed in a single sitting, crazy enough, rented it back in the day, and a friend stayed over who eventually fell asleep while I kept playing 😝I was obsessed, oh I took breaks to pee and eat, I don't know how many hours passed but I finished it. Those days are long gone lol. One of my favorite's for NES along with Legend of Zelda.

You know that inside of that thing reminds me off something.  I don't know if it's the hallway of Hatak vessel from Stargate SG-1 or a hallway from Star Trek Deep Space 9.

I'm really surprised to hear you say that 😱 It's hard to be inside The World of Atari for 30 years and not have heard of Crossbow. Give the 7800 version a play and let us know your thoughts on how they compare.

Same here! I might be a bit partial to the Atari 7800 in general, but I always preferred that version. Then again I usually prefer most 7800 versions to the XE / 8-Bit with the exception of Karateka.

Not really the ultimate 5200. It has an old and no longer made s-video/cvbs processor board that was more time consuming and more damaging to the console to install vs the UAV we have today. Where I installed the AV jacks was NOT ideal and in fact I don't install them in the case shell anymore due to how thick the case shell is. It is best to install them on the expansion plate on the opposite side but as you can see, I installed my new dc power jack there instead. So a lot of things I did on this 5200 is not how I would do it these days. But it was what I did over 8 years ago when I first upgraded this 5200 and like a lot of things, I've learned much since then.
It could also be argued that to make it more ultimate, would be to install a Sophia RGB output board into it. But I honestly have always been quite happy with the s-video output from this 5200 even from this older board that I don't really desire anything better from it currently. I feel the same way about my 7800 in most regards as well.

MaximumRD reacted to Justin in Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge (Atari ST)
I LOVED this game. I had an Esprit back in the day, partially due to this game and partially due to the Esprit being the "sister car" to the DeLorean DMC-12, as the DeLorean was based on the Esprit and engineered by Lotus at Hethel. They're sisters but not quite twins. Park them side by side and you'll see the similarities, same low, swept-back stance, both designed by Giugiaro, the DeLorean is wider, Esprit typically had a smaller engine at that time, nestled in the middle of the car rather than the rear.
Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge was a cool game, fun to play, and one of the first racing games I can think of that was both 1.) officially licensed and branded with a car brand (Lotus) as opposed to games like Out Run which were not officially licensed through Ferrari and never used the Ferrari brand, and 2.) challenged the player with more detailed and somewhat more realistic driving physics, instrumentation, cockpit layout and gear shift. I remember playing this game and thinking it was like a flight simulator for driving. Really a neat game.

MaximumRD got a reaction from Atari 5200 Guy in Famicom Impressions
Very cool. As far as real hardware I do not own a Famicom, I DO have one of those adapters you can use plug plug a Famicom cart into a NES or compatible system, that said I only have a  single Famicom cart at that itself is a cheapo knockoff multicart with mostly bad titles 😆I guess another option is using my original Nintendo or my Retrobit RetroTrio clone (it plays NES / SNES / GENEIS carts) and I could use my EverDrive N8 Flashcart and load Famicom roms off it. I will likely never own an original Famicom since my collecting is highly curbed these days but I always like the looks of them compared to the North American NES and the carts, don't even get me started, from label art to the compact size I was amazed by Famicom carts and was always disappointed we didn't get that design. Nice and interesting write up, thanks for sharing.

Here I quickly and poorly sample the game using AMIGA emulator FS-UAE for PC - Bob's Garden - An excellent clone of the arcade classic Mr. Do! for the Commodore AMIGA. I love Mr. Do! with my favorite version being on the Colecovision, however, back in my AMIGA days I was thrilled to find this little gem for any ESC/OCS Commodore AMIGA since it was PD/Freeware and turned out to be a very playable version as well. I was more amazed how decent the RF output was from this 7800 after I got it back and running again. My daily driver has never looked that good on a flat panel through RF so this one is quite nice.
