  1. Been a while since I posted anything in here... we've moved, so the game "room" setup is different.  Need to put out a new video.  Anywho, here's some pics from some recent pickups... A "rare" Activision game, Cosmic Commuter.  My first boxed 2600 game, Kaboom!  (I already had a loose copy of Kaboom, but now I have one in the box, too.)  And a couple of more common titles that I didn't have.  Back in the day, I had a real, honest to goodness photo-taken-of-the-TV-and-sent-to-Activision patch for River Raid.  I'm nowhere near as good at it now.

  2. Mine's not too exciting... a laptop.  I have built my own desktops in the past, but for a while now I've been a laptop guy.

    It's a Dell G5 5590

    Intel Core i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz   2.59 GHz

    16.0 GB Ram

256GB SSD and 1TB HDD (also have a 1TB external HDD I took out of an old laptop)

It's done better than I thought it would.  Runs Cyberpunk with only the problems the game comes with.  lol

Pics are of the laptop and my background image (photo by me) and the desk environment.  (I cleaned it a little to take this pic, but it's always a mess of wires.)

  3. I've been seeing more and more about this recently, but it's been going on for a while.  I remember getting just about everything for my first home built computer there around the year 2000.  But I also remember seeing a video where a guy was going to see if he could buy everything he needed to build a computer there recently and he couldn't.  It's like he had a choice of cases, but none of the motherboards they had in stock would fit or he could find a few pieces that would go together, but then couldn't find the right power supply.  Pretty sad.  There's one not too far from me, but I haven't been in over a decade probably.

  4. I just played Arcana for the SNES for the first time yesterday.  Not sure how great it is just yet, but I played for around 30 min and really liked it.  It's a first person dungeon crawler type game, like AD&D Eye of the Beholder but a little less complicated.  But the real draw for me is that it has an automap feature for the dungeons!  No graph paper needed!

  5. My dad won a 2600 and several games as a grand opening door prize at a local grocery store.  We already had a 2600, so he let us pick one game to keep from the stuff he won.  I picked Yars Revenge.  I mean, actually, back then I got all my games for free because my parents bought them, but this one always felt different because even my parents didn't have to pay for it.

  6. I have too many to count, probably...  but I'll try to break it down some...

Homemade - Fried over easy eggs, bacon, and toast.

Cereal - It changes a lot, but as for sugary cereal, Fruit Loops.  For not so sugary cereal, Raisin Bran or Rice Krispies.

    McDonald's - Egg McMuffin

Whataburger - Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Taquito with salsa or a Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit

IHOP - Breakfast Sampler or Colorado Omelet with a side of grits.

Donuts - Regular glazed, but sometimes a raspberry filled

  7. I started off on the 2600 and arcades, so...

Yars Revenge - 2600 - Repetitive, but challenging.  First game I ever got for free.  Gotta love free games!
River Raid - 2600 - First game I ever thought I was actually good at.  Got a patch from Activision and everything!
Ms Pac Man - Arcade - The action, the sounds, the intermissions!
Dig Dug - Arcade - A favorite that I try any time I see it.
Galaga - Arcade - I remember playing this at the local Dairy Queen.  Never was great at it, but another favorite.

But after that, the NES is what really made me love video games.

Castlevania - Loved the spooky aesthetic.  Challenging gameplay.  Still remember the first time I beat it.
1943 - It took me forever to figure out how to beat the 3rd boss, and even longer to beat the game.  Cemented my love of shooters.
Super Mario Bros. - Classic platformer.  Not the first, but arguably the most influential and well known.  EVERYONE was playing this one.
Metroid - Talk about challenge.  The addition of a map would have made this quite a bit easier, but at least there was a password.  Exploration and backtracking gameplay became a huge influence on game design to this day.

And since people are posting pics.  🙂

  8. I still have my VCR hooked up, but haven't watched a video on it about a year.

The video I watched was a freestyle bmx video, where they're doing lots of tricks on ramps and flatland.  It was made by a bmx bike company called Homeless Bikes that used to be in Austin Tx.  It's from around 93 or so.  My wife is in the video and that's why we have it.  (She wasn't riding a bike... she was actually watching a burning TV or something...)  I've been thinking about copying that video into digital form and posting it on YouTube, but I'm not sure if I'd get into any kind of copyright issues.

Other than that, I have only a few VHS cassettes.  Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Slap Shot, Star Wars Trilogy (episodes 4, 5, and 6), and a couple Young Ones videos.

Edit:  Might not bother with digitizing the bmx video.  Looks like it's already out there at least in some capacity.  I found the video with my wife in it.  She's at the beginning.  (Looks a lot different 30 years later, though.  lol  She was probably around 19 here.)
