This is very upsetting. Regan is a friend and colleague. We worked on a project along with Gene Landrum for many years pioneering mixed reality in ways that have yet to be done on a mass scale. That's Regan pictured with me at Atari World Headquarters on Borregas in the top left photo. Regan is a hell of a talented designer, and a very interesting person to talk with. I'd give him a quick call and 3 hours later would realize we really need to get going. I learned so much about product design from him, where inspiration is drawn from, etc. He showed me his vintage Jeep once that he bought with "Atari money" which was very cool. What an unbelievable loss to this world.

Yeah, I'm grateful.  My supervisor is on the other end of the country and essentially says "I don't care where you work as long as you get your work done".   That and the private executive washroom @ WFH.

I think I am inspired to get myself a jump rope now!
That's nice WFH became a permanent option. The company I work for has gone back and forth about returning to the office. There was a set date this month but it was cancelled. I am now required to work in the office just one day a week, personally I love WFH so I am happy I only have to go in one day!

Thanks for the encouragement, good ideas, and sharing.
I'm kind of already hinting around the three steps you've listed.  For example, I've given up on sodas (and their sugar) and am doing green tea at lunch, iced tea unsweetened at dinner.  No eating after 8pm for me -- hard rule.  But oh boy -- no carbs as an Italian will be TOUGH!  :)   I think I'll change my rule #2 to "Cut back on carbs, more colorful vegetables every day".
I'm lucky in that weight hasn't been an issue.  But it's more about trying to keep in good shape so I can enjoy vacations and life in general and age gracefully.
But really, being in good health really helps each and every day.  I feel a lot stronger and more energetic after starting the jump rope.  Small changes, big results.
Mostly, I was pretty horrified at that Disneyland pain I mentioned.  I felt embarrassed  -- like I was holding my wife and son back from having fun.  I used to be the fastest walker in the wilderness, and I intend to be again.  I did help us laugh about it though by breaking into the "Put one foot in front of the other" song when i was struggling.
Justin, you mentioned the 80 lb weight loss -- that is so awesome and I'm proud of YOU.
And Gianna, I can see how going to a gym would be beneficial.  They have all the right equipment and it's so motivating to be there.

By the way, WFH is permanent for me.  They gave me that choice and I grabbed it with both hands.

I have been working from home as well. I had to return to the office in November, but a few weeks ago we returned to WFH. The office I work at has a large park right next to it, so on my lunches I typically would spend that time walking. However with WFH, going to the gym has been easier as it is just a short drive away and I can beat the rush hour traffic.
I was also thinking of getting a Wii Fit. I used to have one and loved it! There are many types of stretches and exercises you can do on it.

Huge congratulations @RickR! We're proud of you 😀
I've been doing 3 things since May to stay healthy:
Intermittent Fasting - Only eat between 12:00 Noon and 7PM No Carb / Keto / Atkins - No sugar or carbs Brisk Walk / Jog 30 mins every night By making these three changes I have lost over 80 pounds since May. I have been swimming 50-100 laps a day for years and nothing has made an impact on my weight, health and mental clarity as significantly as these three steps, and they have been so remarkably easy to do. These are not substantial sacrifices to make, but the results have been spectacular.

I've been thinking about getting the old Wii Fit board out and doing that.  I imagine that gives a lot of stretching a flexibility exercises.

That's awesome! I have tried jump roping before, it is quite difficult but I know it is very good health-wise.
I had been going to the gym 4-5 days a week for months until late November. Life got busy and I fell out of the routine. I'd say for the past week I've been getting back into it which has been nice.

That looks very interesting.  Let me know if you like it and you feel that it helps you stick with doing planks.
That's the real challenge, isn't it?  Finding something that you'll stick with over the long haul.  Working from home has been so different for me.  My office had an indoor walking route that I could do several laps every day.  Here at home, I have every good intention of walking, but usually don't when the weather is bad (which is often in the winter).
I have a treadmill, but haven't used it regularly yet (that's a long story -- I'm waiting for son #2 to move out next month).
Weight lifting is what I've been doing.  But that trip to Disneyland where my hip got sore and went to level 10 pain opened my eyes to becoming more well-rounded with what I do.

Congratulations, Rick! Jump-rope is a great exercise, or so I've heard. 😀
My GF got me this core strengthening board called Stealth that gamifies planks using your cell phone. It's OK and helps to distract me from the boredom of planking. LOL.
