It hasn’t even been two years since my last update again but I’m back! I moved some stuff around when I was back for thanksgiving to see my family. I’m in college now so I don’t live with all of this stuff anymore. Maybe tomorrow I can post some pictures of my dorm room video game setup if anyone is interested. But this is what the old game room looked like when I left yesterday.

Yesterday, I met up with a member of a local retro computer society and made a trade (something I rarely do). He was offering the Lego 2600 set. He said he didn't get any joy from it sitting on the shelf and had more fun assembling it. I'm totally the opposite 🙂 Assembling stuff is not my favorite pastime anymore, so being able to get one fully assembled was a bonus. He did include the manual if I wanted to take it apart and put it together myself though 😂
I traded my spare heavy sixer. In my mind, I traded one display piece for another. The Lego 2600 has heft and it feels about as heavy as a real 2600. I am very impressed by the quality. If only it was cheaper (around $75), I probably would have bought it new, but there was no way I was going to buy a display piece for what this set costs at retail. Having said that, it is a marvel and $200 doesn't seem unreasonable.
Oh man that’s so sweet. The lego 2600 is so cool. Much cooler than the NES one in my opinion. Honestly I think it might be my favorite set they’ve ever made; the attention to detail is phenomenal. I mean the instructions look just like the instructions to the real 2600! I really do have to get me one of these sets before they go out of print. It’s been too long since I’ve built a good old Lego set.

HA!! I guess we missed the memo - NOT supposed to take the cart orally once daily
When I first saw your post, I legitimately thought that maybe you were the guy I bought this from on eBay before I noticed the date on your post. But yeah, Game Boy Dr. Mario is great fun. Probably my favorite version of the game. I used to not be too big of a Dr. Mario fan, but over the last year or so it’s hooked me in a way few other games have. It was one of the few games my friend would play on my Game Boy constantly back in high school, alongside Tetris and Donkey Kong 94.

I finally got a new (non-rotten) disc to go with my case for Mario Kart Double Dash! After this, I may never pay for a GameCube game again. They’re so expensive nowadays and I paid way too much for this. Not that I was ripped off, it just goes for a lot these days.

I replaced this GBA screen lens with a nice glass one. The old plastic one was really cheap and super prone to scratches. Like, REALLY prone. I also cleaned out the innards, so it looks a lot nicer now. You can really see that with the speaker. Unfortunately I didn’t take any “before” pictures, so this picture I took around Christmas is the best I could do for a comparison.

And a good one, at that!
When I was a kid, I couldn’t get into it. We had the Trilogy version on our Wii’s hard drive since it was modded. Last year I tried that version again and I liked it a lot more, but fell off it eventually for some reason. I really like this original version better though. The controls feel weird at first since it’s not twin stick like a lot of stuff that came out after, but it clicks after a while and I vastly prefer it over the motion controls of the Wii version.

Really enjoying playing this game again. What are your thoughts on this one? It’s probably the most divisive Mario game.

Congrats! Nice one, I have a couple I really need, like most of my collection, to give more attention to! Even got the GBA player.
I’d love to get a Game Boy Player someday. I was looking into it earlier today to see how much they were going for. I knew they were a little pricey, but I had no idea just how expensive they have gotten! A Game Boy Player with the boot-up disc costs like 200 dollars! No thanks. I’ll stick with the Super Game Boy for now.

This was my Christmas present this year! I’m so happy with it. This was the last of the main Nintendo consoles that I needed to get. Now I have everything from NES to Switch.
I had a few GameCube games already because I could play them on the Wii. But I haven’t gotten anything for it in a long time. The prices on GameCube games are absolutely crazy right now. Oh well. Im still very happy with it.

When you guys are done with this, I’m definitely porting it to VIC-20! Mine doesn’t work anymore, but that doesn’t mean I don’t mess around in BASIC on emulators still! (I really should get around to fixing that computer one of these days.)

I just returned from a trip to Los Angeles. I had a lot of fun playing some OG Game Boy games on my new Game Boy Color with IPS screen.
Of course, there's Tetris. Then I played Nemesis for the first time since the early 90s when I first bought the OG Game Boy. I broke 100k which I believe is a first, but it doesn't have a persistent scoreboard, and my score disappeared after like 3 three seconds. I'm getting better with age ✌️ Fine wine anyone?
I played Bomberman GB for the first time, and actually, this was the first time I played any Bomberman game. I'm still playing through the training levels but having a lot of fun. I see now why people love the series. It also has the cutest pause screen
I also played Mario Picross for the Game Boy. I found out about Picross a few months ago, and the Game Boy version is a lot of fun.
A few weeks ago, I had some quick fun with the original Game & Watch for the Game Boy.
What are your favorite Game Boy games❓
Hey! I got Nemesis from @RickR!
The Game Boy is my favorite system period. There are so many games I love. The first two Mario Land games are phenomenal. Pokémon is great as always. Links Awakening is a downright masterpiece. But if I had to pick my favorite, it’s Metroid II, hands down. Almost as close as you can get to a perfect video game in my eyes. A lot of people dislike it, but I think it’s just divine. Especially this time of the year. I get really nostalgic for it around the holidays and play through it every year.

I tried using Linux, or more specifically Raspbian, once. I know everyone likes it but I personally can’t stand it. It’s probably a me problem but it seems like none of the programs I like to use are compatible with it.

Metroid II. Maybe my favorite game ever made. It's perfect. I play through it every Christmas and it's just one of those games that gets me every time.
Super Mario Land as well. I've probably beaten that a hundred times. Can't forget Luigi's Mansion or Animal Crossing: New Leaf either.
