I could see how someone would prefer Jungle Hunt, as it offers more variety in a sense.
I could see someone liking Pitfall! more. It's a bit more complex and almost like an adventure. The memorization involved and the time limit have always kept me from enjoying it as much as I could have. I like the sequel a bit more. Have you thought about reviewing that one anytime soon, @nosweargamer?

Thanks for everyone's help! I wouldn't have gotten this system without you! Just two more days until I get it! It's like waiting for Christmas!
I also found it funny that the nes version of dk jr CIB is hundreds of dollars more than virtually the same game on the 7800

You guys are fancy! I just daisy chain a bunch of coax cables together and call it a day.

Yea, like I think I'm about the only person who like Jungle Hunt better than Pitfall.
No, actually, you're not.

What a great find. It's worth the money if for nothing else than a cool decoration.

Wow, you did a great job, @CrossBow! The picture looks amazing! Ever since seeing screenshots and videos of Venture, I have been a little envious of CV owners. Excellent job on your modification!

This is supposed to be a terrible console, but it's always somehow fascinated me. Not that I'd go out of my way to get one, of course.
Just look at its strange little keypads! How are you supposed to play a game like this, much less with another person?
This thing was based off of the FRED computer prototypes, I think. It was too little too late. Maybe it would've been cool had it released in 1975, but in 1976? That was the same year as the VCS and a whole year after the Channel F! Only a few games were made for the thing, most of which you could get better versions of on other consoles of the time. It was also Black and White only! Imagine growing up with this thing...
There were even plans for a Studio III (which I believe was released overseas) and Studio IV! The console seems terrible, but it's something I'd like to try out someday. Anyone own this thing? What are your thoughts on the system?

Thanks, @Video 61 for adding so much to this conversation.

Aside from the black and white cartridge labels used on most of the best games, I was happy with the 7800 packaging and presentation.
I don't care for the vast majority of cartridge labels on the 7800 either. I wish they did more of them like Pole Position II. I really think the monochromatic cliparty approach there looks good.

I don't recall what causes it, but there seems to be minor variations on every revision. Occasionally they affect certain games. I believe the Food Fight one is pretty rare, so I wouldn't get too concerned about it. Choplifter is the more common one. If you ever want to make sure you avoid that one, get a Choplifter cartridge with a 1988 copyright year on it, not the 1987.
Thanks. I was pretty worried about that one. Good thing Choplifter is very low on my list of games to get

I'm totally cool with that, although I find there are several gamers who look at you weird if you don't always agree with their opinions and sometimes even take it personally. It's sad that that happens sometimes.
It is a little sad. I look at people weird sometimes, but always as a joke. I'll say something like, "Sega's garbage! Nintendo is better!" or "Tunnel Runner shouldn't be at #63!" but I always respect others' gaming opinions and don't intend to hurt others' feelings and try to communicate that with them afterwards if they feel offended.

Talk about standing the test of time! Reviewed during episode 25 and still maintaining a spot in the Top 5. Very impressive!
Haunted House never did much for me. I only learned how to play it a few months ago when I got the manual. The first game mode is too easy for me and the others are just too frustrating.

Just listened to episode 4 of the 7800 game by game podcast. @nosweargamer was talking about how Food Fight can crash on certain revisions of the 7800. What causes this? Should I be concerned?

While it may have mattered to some, I'm going to largely agree with you. I would say Nintendo's market share, head start, Tetris, lower price point, marketing power, game selection and third party support are all bigger reasons why the Game Boy beat the Game Gear, Lynx and Turbo Express.
Besides, battery conscious gamers like myself bought AC adapters for home, recharable batteries for on the go and this for long car trips:
There are always solutions, but they're just less convenient. At least the Lynx had a backlight.

Here we go. Strap in kids. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say battery life doesn't matter. 🔋
As a proud Game Boy Advance owner I'm going to say that it does. At least on long road trips or something. At home it couldn't matter less.

@socrates63 I haven't improved any. You might beat me! I've been listening to music or podcasts or youtube when I play and it really seems to help. When my brain is distracted I get into a zen Pac-Man state and perform much better. You might want to try something like that. Might help. Glad to have another member in the 2600 Pac-Man club!

Watched the first episode. Wish they would've fleshed out why the crash happened and didn't just pin it all on ET and Pac-Man. Otherwise I like it. High production values. Charles Martinet's in it as the narrator.

We lost our local Game Stop so the door is wide open here for a new used game store to come in. I've seriously thought about starting one. I just don't know where or how to begin.
I've long wondered how they started those things. You can't order them from suppliers because no one makes those old games anymore. Maybe flea markets, garage sales, asking around, craigslist, etc? I know nothing about business if you couldn't already tell.
It's unfortunate about your GameStop but don't feel too bad because it's GameStop. They suck. If it was a local place it would be worse.

Probably my favorite system of all time.
Blasphemy! Super Nintendo is WAYYYYY better, @nosweargamer!!!
I'm just messing with you. We all have our own opinions. I have a friend who's a Sega fanatic. We argue often. All friendly debates, of course.
7 minutes ago, nosweargamer said:If you ever do get one, get a 6-Pak too! 6 great games on one cart.
Thanks for the advice, but to be honest, I've seen most all of these games in the clearance bin and could probably get all of them for cheaper that way (they seem to hate Sega there!). Can't deny how cool of a pack-in that is, though! Very varied. A little something for everyone.

@nosweargamer It reminds me of Metroid sort of. Like a precursor. Great sound track, too; I'm pretty sure it has POKEY. I'd love to get my hands on the physical cart someday.
