  1. I grabbed NeoSprint. Thanks @Sabertooth. I don't recall seeing this email. I only got the email with the $5 discount code for ordering physicals from the Atari store. Anyways, I had been wanting to get NeoSprint for a while.
  2. I'm going to offer these in the I/O first. I have extra Steam keys available for free. I bought a Humble Bundle and turns out I already have them all 🤦‍♂️ DM me if you want one. Street Fighter V - Champion Edition Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection Capcom Arcade Stadium Capcom Arcade Stadium 2 A Bird's Story that I posted almost a year ago is still available.
  3. This thread... what a trip down Memory Lane ❤️ Big Wheel -- I tried my friend's but I could never get it to work. I guess I put too much weight in my caboose when I sat in it. During the 70s, it was a must have for sure. Polaroids -- during the early 80s, my friend's mom would take photos of our Risk sessions when we left the house on lunch breaks. Thinking about it now, I'm not sure why she did that. I mean, she wasn't going to mess up the board (or would she if her son was losing?) and we didn't put away the game when we went on our lunch break. The very first non-video game purchase I made as a kid by saving my $3 weekly allowance was this -- a $50 Kodak 110 camera. I don't think it was this exact model but it looked very close. IIRC, I bought it in fourth grade. The guy at Fred Meyers wouldn't sell it to me unless I brought my parents. I understand that $50 wasn't pocket change 40+ years ago, but it was annoying anyway. In middle school, I took it with me on my week long school trip to DC. The very first toy that I bought as a newly arrived immigrant was Pulsar and the Life Systems Center. I remember taking Pulsar to second grade class for show 'n' tell. I was also going to mention the ditto machine, but I see Rick already posted it.
  4. I made this and the Jumpman theme into ring tones for my iPhone. I start the day almost daily with the M.U.L.E. theme since it's my alarm sound. I use the Jumpman theme as my timer alarm.
  5. My current comfort game of 14 years is Halo Reach. It was released back in 2010, and I've been playing this Xbox 360 game ever since. What I've been playing is the game in Fire Fight mode. It's simply waves upon waves on enemies and you try to stay alive as long as you can. It's a combination of action with enough tactics and strategy to keep me engaged. Typical session for me last 20-40 minutes which is perfect. I can jump in and out easily. I've been playing it almost daily for 14 years. I tried going cold turkey and quit playing it for a few months last year. I even uninstalled it to get myself to play something else (Vampire Survivor anyone?). However, I returned later in the year and bought the Master Chief Collection for my Xbox One X. The MCC version of the game loads way faster than the native 360 version with backward compatibility and 360 disc check on my Xbox One X. Back in the day during the 80s, my comfort game was Dr. J and Larry Bird One on One with some Archon, Seven Cities of Gold, Blue Max, and Necromancer thrown in.
  6. This is good news. I preordered a year ago (Feb 2023). Juno First is a top 5 2600 homebrew for me, so I am looking forward to this one.
  7. I'm going to continue to hold out for the one from Stone Age Gamer since Rikki and Vikki comes preloaded.
  8. "You're my favorite nephew," uncle Hairy said. "Come and trim my nosehair." If this isn't the most original background story(?) for a video game then I don't know what is 😂
  9. Eugene Jarvis! Glad to know that he attends these events. Hopefully, he makes it to PRGE. Robotron and Defender are in my top 5 favorite coin-op games. Some day, I hope to attend MGC. Until then, the closest I've gotten is buying the Megacat bundle from MGC back in December.
  10. 13,145 This isn't your daddy's Caverns of Mars. I just love the Recharged series.
  11. I wasn't able to put in the time but very glad nonetheless to have tried out a new game. Looking forward to the next challenge!
  12. More games leaving my collection -- tonight, these are going to the same two ladies who bought a bunch of my PS1 and PS2 games. I had no intentions of selling Xbox 360 games, but I know these ladies will give them a good home, so I decided to let them go. I love Xbox 360 and PS3 games. From a graphics perspective, I think it's perfect and the games have aged very well for the most part. I still play Halo Reach.

I did pull one game that was on their list -- Blue Dragon. I had to keep it as a keepsake. I bought it from the company store when I worked at Microsoft. The do not sell sticker on the game box has my employee number on it.

I really need to stop dragging my feet and just take my stuff to Pink Gorilla.

  13. Another thing that's relatively unique to the PS3 library is compilations and remasters -- there are quite a few worth looking into. Take a look at Metal Jesus' video specifically on the topic -->
  14. I have yet to play Puppeteer myself 😂 but I hear that it's really good. It looks to be a true hidden gem as it doesn't get talked about too much.
  15. Yes, it supports Bluetooth. It can also work with a USB wired connection although I haven't tried it.
  16. If you're buying digital, I'd recommend thinking about getting something that's much cheaper than the physical version. As already recommended, 3D Dot Game Heroes is a good choice and I'd also add Puppeteer. Physical prices have gone up a bit on those. I believe both are PS3 exclusives. Games by Vanillaware should also be considered (Dragon's Crown). I like to focus on platform exclusives when looking for games to add: Heavenly Sword, ICO & Shadow of the Colossus collection, PS3 has a lot of great series that are probably essentials to any PS3 collection: God of War, Gran Turismo, inFamous, Killzone, LittleBigPlanet, MLB The Show, MotorStorm, Ratchet and Clank, Resistance, Uncharted. I bought my PS3 specifically to play Uncharted, and playing that series alone made it a worthwhile purchase for me.
  17. Since I got my iPad Pro (the larger one), I had been using it with the Logitech keyboard case. For a brief time, I tried using it with a mouse and the Nuphy Air75 keyboard. I returned the keyboard as it was too big for what I wanted. Recently, I didn’t like the feel of the trackpad on the Logitech keyboard. It felt a little worn down. I decided to look into a separate keyboard (mechanical keys, low profile, Bluetooth) and mouse setup again. I researched a little and saw that the 65% keyboard size may just be what I was looking for. I saw mechanical keyboard models by Logitech and Keychron that looked intriguing. I ended up going with the Keychron K7 Pro. The other models I considered were the Keychron K7 and Logitech MX Mechanical Mini. I am super happy with my choice. It’s very small and yet very comfortable to use. Typing on it feel good (I went with the hot swappable Gateron brown switches).
  18. Great overview, Rob 🙂 and I totally agree with you. I switched from the 6S Plus to a 13 Pro a little over a year ago (just after the 14 hit the shelves). That was October 2022. I asked myself whether it was worth getting the battery replaced in the 6S Plus (replaced the battery 2 maybe 3 times during the time I used it) and decided it was no longer worth it. In addition to the cost of the battery, the phone was getting slow. I figured I used it long enough. I loved the fact that the price of the 13 dropped by 50% as soon as the 14 was available for purchase. I owe one to the sales guy told who tipped me off. I only waited one more week and got the phone for half price. Since my wife and sons also made the switch, that was four 13 Pro so quite the savings.
  19. Preorders are handled exclusively by Amazon.co.uk --> https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0CRYXTL82/ The item listing shows the price of 99.99 pounds but when I added it to the basket, the price dropped to 89.90 pounds. Shipping is 19.70 pounds.
  20. And so it begins... the collection purge. Before I take the games to Pink Gorilla, I offered up my PS1, PS2, PS4, and Dreamcast games to a gamer couple in the local gaming group. This is what I've pulled out for them. I ended selling a couple of games (like Metal Gear Solid and Parasite Eve II) that I was intending to keep, but I am happy that they are going to people I know who will love them as much as I did.

"'The flip side is that I will focus my collection on Atari consoles and computers and a little bit on other systems from the 80s" -- welcome to my world! I hope the downsizing goes well and you and your wife enjoy your vacation 🙂

Thanks, Justin. We have a 2.5 week trip to Thailand coming up in about five weeks.

I'm really hoping that my joy from connecting with retro games will more way more about playing and much less about collecting. I'm trying to reverse that balance I had going on for way too long.

For me it's always been the history. I feel like I've come at this from an interesting trajectory, and from before I could connect with anybody on the internet. I've always been rooted in 2-D gaming. Atari, Nintendo, Sega, and TurboGrafx have been mostly enough to carry me through the 21st century, with the occasional Nintendo Wii, Switch, or VCS game. It's also not necessarily "nostalgia" - I'm not trying to relive the past, I've just always enjoyed playing the games.

That's really cool that you're going to Thailand. I hope you'll share some pics from your travels!
