You should.  I always enjoy your feedback to Ferg!

It has been a while since I sent feedback to Ferg. I always felt I was just repeating what others were saying. So until I feel like I have something to really add, I have been keeping quiet. I do love how these shows let the listeners add feedback and we get to hear all the differing opinions about games and maybe see them a little different in the end.

They aren't for sale.  If you paid for one over a year ago, they ship soon.  I'm not sure if more will be made.  But I do agree that it's a fine product.

I know I have been wanting one. I went to their website and sent a message for them to let me know if they decide to produce more. I have not heard anything yet. It has been a while since I did that.

I played a lot of the RCA games in the store back in the late 70's (precisely, Montgomery Ward's always had several systems out to try).  I remember "Freeway", and I thought it was a lot of fun.  My comparison back then was the handheld game "Tomy Digital Derby", which I owned and LOVED.  This game was a huge improvement.

I saw the video Willie did a while back. It did look fun and reminded me of playing Street Racer when I was young.

I also had the Tomy Digital Derby and now own 2 different model number versions and a couple of extra for parts. They are notorious for a small plastic part breaking where the timer stops. I am looking for a permanent repair but have not seen anything yet. I loved playing those old Tomy games and had others they sold.

I opted for the standard release of the game. Only because the digital version would only be playable in emulation or if you have a Harmony Encore. I've only got the Unocart and standard original Harmony so for me I'd rather save the money and just having the cart to play in my 7800 will be excellent enough! The VIP was tempting, but I just didn't have any idea where the heck I would put all that stuff! I don't have room as it is now for standard boxed games in most cases LOL!

BTW I didn't have any issues with my order. Then again, I didn't try to order until nearly an hour after the had gone live. But I just fired up the site on Chrome, logged into my account and then clicked to add the standard edition NTSC version to my cart. Paypal popped right up without issues and I the whole process only took me a few minutes if that?

Once I got the laptop going, it also went smoothly for me with Chrome. I think it might have been two hours after sales started for me. I did get a Collectors version as I play on both original hardware and sometimes though emulation.

I agree with you about the deluxe edition. It would have been nice, but where to store all those other items in the limited space I already have.

If you have the Lynx 2, BennVenn now offers a solderless LCD replacement. I've installed 2 of them now and it is very straightforward upgrade. But regardless of which LCD upgrade you go with, it is critical that the power stage components get refreshed and advise recapping the Lynx as well.

The McWill for the Lynx isn't that big a deal to install as I've done quite a few of them as well. There is more stuff to remove but the lynx systems are largely through hole components.

But the power stage stuff is SMD but it isn't too bad if you have a decent iron with a chisel tip and patience. I only recently got a hot air station to help with this, but was using my standard iron to remove the components pretty easily before.

Thank you for letting me know about this other option for upgrade. I will check them both out and see if one seems doable for me and then make my decision.

That's some serious Atari street cred right there 👍 😁  Are you going to do that McWill screen mod that I've heard about?

I am thinking about the McWill screen. I did buy one Lynx cheap that has one bad pixel, so I do have one to use. Not sure if I want to send it off or try and do it myself. I am okay with a soldering iron, and have modded a 2600 and 7800, but when you get to surface mounted technology, it can be so much trickier.

Hey there from a fellow Texan!  (I also had a Pong unit... well... clone I think... back in the day, but it's loong gone.)  Hope you were okay during the big freeze!

Talking about the big freeze. We lost power for 30 hours straight just East of Dallas. The temperature before the power came back on just dipped below 40 degrees in the house. MY house was built in the 70's and we replaced the original windows a few years ago, so that helped. Also had hot food to eat thankfully, but it sure felt weird outside in the snow grilling hamburgers and other items, but it was worth it.

Was able to get in and order. All three editions were available. I did have issues with my phone and desktop Firefox browser. Had to use Edge to get in. Looking forward to getting it later in the month.

I also had issues with my iPad. I think it did say something about tablets maybe not working so well on a description somewhere. Had to get the laptop out and got my order in.

I saw the reveal on Twitch Friday and it looks really fun. It was great listening to them all talking about how this came about. Someone asked if Steve Cartwright and others might come back and program and all they said that there is discussions with others about coming back but no names were mentioned. I also liked how they never said they were making homebrews as they are a company making games for the older systems and not someone working at home when they can. Someone suggested calling them Pro-Brews.

As they sometimes say "Everything old is new again"

It doesn't explicitly say whether Paypal payments will still be accepted.  I do know they accept credit card payments directly through e-bay right now.  I'm not sure what the protections are.

Guess we will find out in February if there are other major changes. Love how they want to be the premier auction site but are making it harder to use the site for sellers. My guess is they might be doing it to help fight against scamming sellers by making a little harder to become a seller.

  10. I posted this on the AtariCreep’s discord after I saw his video, but I will also post it here. I did my name with all 2600 games I owned the first time around when I owned the 2600 brand new in the early 80’s. I did both my real name and my name on here.

R-Raiders of the Los Ark.                     J-Joust

    O-Outlaw.                                                I-Ice Hockey

    C-Carnival.                                              M-M*A*S*H

    K-kaboom!                                              M-Mountain King

    E-E.T. the Extra-terrestrial.                   Y-Yar’s Revenge

    R-Reactor

This was fun looking at and everyone of the games was a favorite growing up. I am so glad I did not have to choose games that were not really my favorites. It was a good representation of the type of games I love to this day.

Newer versions of the Space Battleship Yamato theme...

    Japanese Version

    English Version

This was probably my favorite theme growing up. I remember running home from school everyday because we got out around 3 and it started at 3:30. it was over a mile to school, but I always made it just in time. Battle of the Planets was on at 3 and during the summer I could catch both here on Channel 11 in Dallas.

I'm trying to think about what my children will say when this question is presented to them in 20 years.

I saw this and started thinking the same thing. Their first response would be that mom never played any games as she hates technology and technology hates her. 🙂

Me, they would probably say the Sims 3 or Sims 4 as I have been trying to complete some challenges on these games and I played them a lot around the holidays because I was on vacation. They might also say Star Wars as I have one of the Arcade1up machines. One other thing they might mention is one of the Arcade Archives on the Switch. I have been playing a lot of Crazy Climber and I am trying to better my score on Time Pilot as I am ranked, right now, number 60 on the Global Scoreboard. I cannot seem to get any higher as I keep getting interrupted playing that long and lose the groove.

  13. My first thought was the 2600 with its historical footprint and wide variety of games, but I ended up voting for the Commodore 64. It brought computer gaming to the next level with the sound chips and color graphics it could pull off. I know the Atari line of 8 bit computers were also big at the time and helped get more computers into homes, but it almost seemed to me at the time that the C64 was the first big gaming computer. I had one growing up, and it seemed all my friends also either had a C64, or when they came out, either the newer 64C or the 128. The Commodore also had great online services when modem prices started getting more reasonable and I was a member on Quantum Link for years, and I think that service ended up become AOL or one of the other big PC on-line service providers if I heard right. So I think the C64 had a huge impact on what we play and do on computers now.

  14. Very good question. I will say LEGO Star Wars games on the PS2. It shows that I am a sci-if nerd, and I especially love Star Wars. I like the humor in the game when it pokes fun at itself and the medium it comes from, and I love to try to find the humor in what is going on around me. It just it being LEGO, which is a child’s toy for the most part, shows I still feel like a kid inside sometimes.

  15. This one got me thinking. I guess I would answer it this way.

    Arcade-Super Pac-Man

Console Then-2600 Pac-Man as it was all I had then.

Console Now-It is hard to pick from all the available versions out now. Just on the 7800 we have Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Super Pac-Man, Jr. Pac-Man, and Baby Pac-Man home brews that are all so great in their own ways. But if we go with originally released games, I did put in a lot of hours into Ms. Pac- Man on the Lynx, so I guess that would be my answer now.

  16. My vote would be the 7800. When my C64 crashed on me back then, I jumped on board with the NES. I never even gave the 7800 the time of day as I had a 2600 growing up and just thought it would be more of the same. Now that I own a 7800 and see all the great games, like Food Fight and others, that came out, I wished I had gone that direction. The NES is a great system, but most of the games that came out for it were not that appealing to me. The 7800 library had more of the game play type of games that appeal to me, especially now with the home brew scene.

  17. I know I will probably mirror what others have already said, but it is a hobby to me. A hobby to me is a way to relax and escape from the everyday. It would be the same as collecting sports cards, comic books, LPs, or anything else like that. The hobby is the sport of finding the games, sorting them, and an extra benefit we get is playing them. It is a chance to escape, even if it is just for 30 minutes, the stress that normal life can burden us with.

  18. Some of the biggest feats for me might seem pretty simple for some. My main ones were beating ET and Raiders Of The Lost Ark on the 2600, rolling the scores on Asteroids and Video Pinball, and getting high enough scores to qualify for Activision patches but never getting a screen shot to send them in. Talking about that, I need to track down the guy on AtariAge who sells reproduction patches so I can see if he has Kaboom, Laser Blast, and the Starmaster ones.

Don't forget to purchase an AtariVox when this game does become available so you can get all the arcade speech as well! John's release of Wizard of Wor arcade for the 2600 is one of the best home ports of the game released! It is really really good and has all the speech from the arcade also provided you have an AVox for your Atari.

I finally bought myself one of them, and I cannot believe I waited so long to get one.  It was about time a voice module came out for the 2600 since Odessey and Intellivision both had one. The only system that did not have a voice module was the Colecovision, if I am thinking right, and I remember the game Squish Em had voice in it.
