  1. Turnament, one of the games that kicked off a quick succession of third party releases over the summer: https://youtu.be/ljOcQNB17Go
  2. qomp2, didn't really like it but it's well made. Challenging puzzle platformer, essentially, by the same folks who brought you Mr. Run and Jump and Kombinera, two other games I just couldn't get into due to not being into punishing puzzle platformers. 🙂
  3. Here's my first score: 104,960 My problem with the way Berzerk Recharged does its high score system is the same issue I have with Quantum: Recharged: The bonuses become mandatory for the leaderboards. You get +100% for having one life, +100% for no powerups, and +100 for no dash, meaning a 25,000 score ends up at 100,000. Meanwhile, to get 100,000 points without the bonuses you'd have to get so much further through the game as to be impractical. I went further than I'd ever gone before this weekend and ended up with an unmodified 57,000. That woulda been at least 114,000 if I'd just ditched the dash, up to 228,000 if I'd used the full bonuses. It means that in order to get the highest score you HAVE to use the score modifiers, which seems like the wrong way to do it. They should be maybe +25% at best.
  4. I've gotten good at this game, although my run had a bunch of mistakes in it still. This is one where a perfect game is totally possible.
  5. 221,935, an imperfect but successful run. I am currently #8 on the VCS leaderboards with my personal best, a mere five points above this. 🙂 Here's the run:
  6. Once you get decent at beating the game the scores go quite a bit up. 206,625 You then have to start maximizing your points and (try to) keep the multiplier running.
  7. This game ends for those who don't know, so your score is a reflection of how much you keep your multiplier going during the run and how many things you clear out. It's a cool score-chaser and fun game. Once you beat the game a few times it becomes easier and you can focus on the score-chasing.
  8. Food Fight: Culinary Combat - A VCS early access timed exclusive!
  9. Days of Doom is an excellent turn-based tactical RPG with one of the highest price tags in the VCS Store:
  10. I am gonna LOSE this one! My best is 123k, but the first best for the challenge here is: 61,162
  11. Strike Zone: 2600 is the best bowling game for the VCS:
  12. Battle Rockets is easily one of the worst games on the VCS:
  13. All right, I had never played this game before, and I have to say it's not really working for me. I am not entirely sure how to play it, but it feels like I am playing it wrong. At least I finally figured out that I could switch missile silos! Not really sure why some enemies seemed to be bullet sponges while others weren't, and never really figured out how the bomb worked, it seemed to just explode in front of my face without damaging anything. So, I'll take the participation ribbon this holiday season with 12,090:
