  1. They put a black plastic ring around the cartridge port, which is the cause of the tight fit. I actually opened mine up and cracked it on purpose. No more issues! 😆 Fyi, Tigervision cartridges have prongs inside that prevent them from fitting at all. Some people simply break the prongs off. I just use my 2600 junior for those games.
  2. I just donated to both you and Ferg. Good luck on making your goal! You look to be about 3/4 the way there!
  3. For what it's worth, I enjoy 7800 Desert Falcon a lot more than 2600 DF. If you like the 2600 port, my guess is you'll really like the 7800 port. I find it a lot easier to move around without getting hit in the 7800 version. In the 2600 version, I just stick to the top right corner most of the time.
  4. That statement leads me to believe he didn't take the time to learn the game. While a single screen shot may make it look like a step above a shovelware game, it actually has a lot of depth with weapon upgrades, level color codes, invisibility power and varied boss battles. I'm not the biggest fan of the game, I find the levels too long and the difficulty too high, but I'd give it more credit than that. IIRC, we also did a High Score Squad for it a couple of years ago. There's also an inferior version of it on the first Atari Flashback.
  5. The key is to add a single drop of anti-matter into the box before re-filling it. You can fit so much more when you do. Just be careful! One member couldn't find their medicine dropper and tried to eyeball it instead. That box was never seen again.........
  6. Planet Smashers was a late release, so that makes sense. I never saw it in stores by me. Impossible Mission is a head scratcher. It's not as common as Xevious or Galaga, but it should be somewhat easy to find, like Ballblazer and Desert Falcon. I bought it as a kid and used to see it often on eBay.
  7. 93100 Not a big fan of this one, but of course these high score challenges do help make these games better. Honestly I'm not a big fan of most of the Black Box games. I think it's a good thing Super Mario was one of them. Without that game, I wonder if the NES would have still succeeded. Fun Fact: this is one of the 10 NES games Nintendo gave to early 3DS owners when they decided to drop the price S100. They also gave 10 gba games too.
  8. One of the nice aspects of collecting 7800, is that you can get about 3/4 of the library, including some of the best games, pretty affordably. And, unlike the NES, even the rare games aren't crazy expensive. Only 11 games cost more than $50 loose, and only one, Tank Command, costs more than $100.
  9. Yesterday I ended Sega Genesis Superhero Games Month TMNT style! Ep 656: TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist
  10. In today's episode, I cover the first pack-in game for the Intellivision. Ep 655: Las Vegas Blackjack & Poker
  11. Sega Genesis Superhero Games Month continues with an expensive trip back into the Marvel Universe. Ep 654: The Punisher
  12. Nice selection! Dig Dug is really good on the 7800.
  13. Over on my YouTube thread, @RickR mentioned how he bought a loose copy of Shanghai for the Master System expecting a fighting game based on the name, but got mahjong instead. This got me thinking about games with misleading titles. Are there any games you can think whose title mislead you? Here's some of mine: Double Dragon NES The whole point of Double Dragon is the DOUBLE part, you know, being able to hit the streets with a buddy. But in this version you can't do that in the main game. Motor Psycho - Atari 7800 With Psycho in the title, I was expecting some more action, perhaps like Road Rash. But no. It's just a standard motorcycle racing game. It's good, but there is nothing psycho about it. Sentinel - Atari 2600 (also 7800) The words sentinel means a powerful guard of sorts and conjures up the giant robots from X-Men in my mind. What its doesn't make me think of is a giant marble floating through the air that mostly does nothing.
  14. My latest Sega Master System game review takes a look at a port of a classic Activision computer game. Ep 653: Shanghai
  15. The NSG effect line made me laugh 😆, but welcome to Intellivision land! You got some Burgertimes, so good start there! I also like Space Battle and Demon Attack. The Intellivision is pretty cheap to collect for too, especially if you get lots off of eBay.
  16. If you ever find interesting, whether for good or bad reasons, retro gaming ebay auctions, share them here! (I recommend video or screen captures so they'll last beyond the ebay expiration date). I've put two videos together showing some of the ones I found. I might even use some of your finds in future videos (I'll give both you and the site a shout out if I do)!
  17. I regret selling A boxed, working Jaguar CD A boxed TG-16 with CIB game from a TRU clearance A boxed Sega Nomad A CIB Crusader of the Centy (Genesis) Not for sentimental value, but I could really use them today for my show, but the cost of them is super high now.
  18. CD-Rom Comic Books From the mid 90s, these books offered animated panels & more.
  19. Today I cover another Master System game from the "Great" sports series. Ep 652: Great Volleyball
  20. Missile Command is the best game of the bunch, but if you had some extra money, I'd put it towards one of those 7800 games in the picture.
  21. Sega Genesis Super Hero Games Month continues with a trip into the Marvel Universe. Ep 651: Captain America and The Avengers
  22. You know I'm always down for one! It'd be cool to see another one happen here! Thanks for hosting! BTW, for those of you who are new to this, here's a video of a previous one we did here on the site last year. This should give you a good idea of what the box is about and what kind of items might make good contributions:
