nosweargamer reacted to RickR in Anybody know where I can find a relatively inexpensive copy of 2600 Mario Brothers?
The least expensive Ebay copy needs a RickR end label.

It was a great place.  I bought a lot of games there.  After the crash, that clearance table/bin was magical.  I remember buying ET for $2.  Infiltrate, Krull, and a bunch of other kind of obscure games came from them.  I remember saving as much cash as I could muster for those trips to the local mall.

Here you go, Harry.  This Yars' box is probably the very worst in my collection.  Here's a picture of the innards to give you an idea.  I can't pull the liner out, as I Elmer's glued the bottom shut.

What an amazing collection! @nosweargamer I was blown away the other day when I saw this on YouTube. That must've cost a pretty penny! I don't even know where someone could find that sort of an XE blue box collection. I have some new in the box but nothing like what you just got your hands on. As 7800 guys the XE always seemed like an alter ego, the other side of the moon 🌖

The timing of this cracked me up because it matches your status in so many ways.  Look what came in the mail today!  It's from a youtube giveaway for Rick Nineg, who just hit 100k subscriptions.  The thing is...I watched the giveaway and I didn't win.  Now a few weeks later, this arrives.

@nosweargamer Little House is on my wishlist. I picked up the Blu-ray set of Knight Rider a few months ago. Now if we all pitch in, maybe we can put a bid in for the Hoff's KITT that's up for sale.
@Justin I never watched Barney Miller while growing up. A few months ago, I saw an episode that popped up on my YouTube feed and fell in love with the show and its production style (looked like a stage play).
@RickR I too was a DVD-snob. Watching DVDs on 50" 1080p TV and 65" 4K TV really show all the warts. Smaller displays probably help a lot in this regard.
However, what I didn't think about until recently was that the compression varies from DVD to DVD. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider starring Angelia Jolie on DVD and made me the snob that I was. It looked horrible even in 1080p, and I was using an Oppo DVD player that was highly regarded for upscaling, and it looked worse, like a bad VHS tape, when viewed in 65" 4K.
And then I watched The King and the Clown, a high regarded Korean movie, on DVD, and my jaw dropped. It may not have been crispy as a Blu-ray on the 65" 4K TV, but it looked very good.

The USPS is massively backed up right now. I'm waiting on several packages.
My wife and I are constantly watch old shows. Right now we're mixing up Knight Rider, Little House on the Prarie (her favorite) and Dinosaurs.

Yes, USPS is a mess.  I had a package from a member here take about a month to arrive (and it was "Priority Mail"!)
You've picked some good shows there.  My wife and I have been watching Star Trek Voyager and Schitt's Creek as time permits.  But it's been slow going.  Mostly, we are so exhausted most nights that we just sit and read or watch our beloved Portland Trailblazers.  We still have the "Breaking Bad" full set to watch, but have not started.  Stupid COVID - we work harder and longer now than ever.
I've been a DVD person for a long time.  I know BluRay has better resolution.  But for the most part, I don't see any real difference watching DVD movies on our main TV.  It's only 40", and maybe that's why it's no big deal to us.  Son #2 is a real DVD-snob though.  Meh, whatever.

I’m looking forward to 2084. I’ll be 79 years old then. I’ll be sitting in my backyard patio, looking at the birds at the feeders and my domestic geese and chickens doing their things. By that time, I would probably have an Odyssey 2 and a Channel F, and hopefully a Crystal Castles cabinet. I’d just be sitting outside, enjoying the nice weather with a cup of Breakfast Blend coffee and a plate of plums and honeydew melon when BOOM! One of those annoying brainy guys beams me in the backside. Ouch.
